Daittern Ruins
a living image of the past
The Daittern Ruins were at the end of a long, beaten-down path. The enormous buildings were visible from almost a mile away, still standing after uncountable patterns had worn them down to their now rather dilapidated state. Still, the large, half-broken columns and the huge, sweeping buildings that defined Daittern remained, chipped and cracked and weathered down by time.
As the traveler got closer and closer to his or her destination, more details began to emerge. It seemed like there had been some sort of a wall around Daittern--stones were piled up high in what appeared to be a circle that encompassed the entire city. Some areas of this wall were still intact, others had been broken down to make pathways into the city.
Inside the city wall were the buildings that used to make up the city, and now just stood as a reminder of what had been. Most of them were in states of disrepair--stones crumbling, walls missing, even an entire plot of land with one lone wall left standing of whatever had been there previously. Almost all of the walls has dull colors flaking off of them, which appeared to be the remains of murals and paintings that had once covered the city’s walls. The city was large enough to rival Taralon, yet the lack of any living presence gave the ruins an eerie feeling that was almost impossible to shake.
Near the center of the ruins the buildings seemed much more intact, and in fact some of them appeared to have no damage at all. Yet upon closer inspection, it seemed that there were certain places where the stone looked newer, almost as if some kind souls had taken it upon themselves to attempt to return Daittern to its former glory. In fact, some of these areas appeared to have been newly constructed, resulting in a curious mixture of times both past and present.
