30th Brightening of the Third Cycle of the Month of Imperos in the season of Autumn; Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum.

Here he was again, riding alone with his trusted Arthalof as company. Eyvind had chose this desolate and abandoned place far from all civilization to meet with someone he didn't see for ages, or someone sent in that person's stead. He still remembered the face of the Elf that had found him in the Crown Tavern almost one Era ago and had offered himself, back in that Brightening the Vagaran had been offered a present, an earring that allowed him to summon aid whenever it was needed and time had come for him to ask for aid. Unmounting from his mighty Warsteed the red-haired man tied the reigns to a nearby tree and removed his Corynthian style helmet. Shaking his head to freed his long mane the now Cencoris raised the steel helmet to the height of his head and looked at it as if looking to another man. The black and white plume swifted a bit with the wind and a whistle came from withing the shadows of the helmet as the same wind found a way in and out of it. Time had come.

In his mind the Vagaran focused on the earring he carried and thought: "concordia salus"

Soon he would meet with someone who would be able to help him, or had he been forgotten?

Seasons had passed. The frost-speckled ground, long kissed by the cold touch of Carmelya, had now melted away, giving birth to the greenery and vivid life of summer. The cycle of birth and rebirth continued.
The elf gazed down on the city below him as he passed overhead, traversing the astral plane with his mind, his body ethereal, riding along the currents of psionic essence. He had travelled the realms, searching for strength, and making it his. Yet, it was not for that purpose that had brought him to this place here today.

Beyond the veil, someone called to him.

Draped in illusions of the highest grade, and disguised by wards upon wards, the elf stood in the desolate lands. He had materialized, though invisible. The moon alone bore witness to his solitude. To all others, he was no longer an elf, nor even a mystic. His aura was masked; he held the powers of a thaumaturge, and was surrounded by illusions - they, too, were masked. A dwarf, he was, dimutive in height, grizzled in demeanor. His eyes sunk into his face.

With his auras up, he could sense the demands of his adherent. The casting process, by then, was instinctive. He was the Undermage; magic was his slave, an obedient servant before the master.

A portal appeared.

"Go, and be where ye wish to be."

Eyvind saw the dwarf appearing before him and before him he saw a shimmering portal, in the other side the harsh ground of the plains around the city of Nexus Prime. Somehow this emissary of his mysterious helpers knew exactly where the Vagaran wanted to go. Arthalof snorted nervously, not used to see the forces of arcana being nearby. With a gentle touch of his feet the Cencoris made the Warsteed step through the portal.

There was no need to say he needed the portal open for two or three Brightenings, the emissary could read his thoughts.

Eyvind Redbeard and his mount disappeared through the portal.

32nd Brightening of the Fourth Cycle of the Month of Imperos in the season of Autumn; Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum.

And again, they were through. But this time Eyvind didn't come alone, with him came a child, a child he had taken as his own. Rainn rode with him in the mighty black Carmelyn Warsteed and slowly they moved past the area where the portal was located and, as suddenly as it had appeared some Brightenings before, the portal vanished.

The red-haired man cuddled Rainn's head.

"Welcome to Sheria."

And they rode off in the direction of Taralon.

Rainn opened her eyes to look around when she felt that they were through the portal. The man cuddled her and she smiled at him. She felt good and safe around him and his black horse. She had no reason to be sad or lonely now.

Suddenly there was a roar that the horse turned its ears backwards for. The child giggled. It was her stomach that roared. She was hungry again.
