Arrow Completely New to Aelyria? READ THIS!

Serale and Welcome to Aelyria!

1) Aelyria is not a graphical MMPORPG - there is nothing to download at all. It is played by writing about the actions of your character in a post, which will be in a thread in a forum that represents a city location. You can see the In Character forums here. To read about the open cities, click here.

2) If you're thinking "How do I play the game?" the Quick Start guide is exactly what you are looking for. If you still are not sure about how to get started after reading this guide or you want something clarified then either follow point (3) below or add your question to your introduction thread in this forum. If all else fails, head to chat (see point 7)!

3) Have a specific question regarding an aspect of play? Once you have introduced yourself and read the Quick Start and the Help pages, you can post specific questions in the Questions forum, where players, GMs and Player Advisors are there to answer questions. Or if you'd rather contact a Player Advisor directly, click on the following names to send them a private message: Sonya, Duvel, Dr Genesis. They will be more than happy to help you out.

4) If you have signed up with an online nickname e.g. CoolBoy or KingDude, you will need to change your username. Character accounts in Aelyria must have original names that fit in a fantasy world, as your account name is your character name. A suitable name might be 'Alenya Gildstar' or 'Jharn Helgor', or even 'Yan Steelhammer', depending on what Race you pick. An unsuitable name would be: 'Rincewind', 'Tanis', 'Richard Rahl', or any variation on famous fictional, mythological & real live people.
Quote:
To get your name changed, please post in the Help Desk. The post title should be something along the lines of 'Account Name Change', and include your chosen name. Please be aware that this will change your username when you log on again, and please be patient. Those who tend the help desk are very busy people.
5) Still need help? In the end, you really need to read the guides that have been made available. Another good one is The Beginner's Guide to Aelyria. Chances are your question has already been answered in there.

6) The rules! In the Discussion forums please refrain from the following: advertising, discussing politics or religion, flaming & insulting messages & general spam. Don't be rude to people, and look out for Player Advisors, as they are here to welcome new players.

7) You can always join us in Chat! Get immediate answers to questions from seasoned players, or just hang out and meet the community. The square icon in the top right corner of this page will take you straight there!

What is the Matchmaker Forum?

This subforum is designed to help you get into the game faster. It holds threads which contain the following information:

1) Threads made by established players who are keen to write with new players. These threads contain information about the established player's PC, where to find them in the game, and how to get in touch with them to discuss ideas for making contact. You can add a question to their thread, or send them a private message.

2) Threads made to promote adventures around the Empire which are open to new players to jump into. This list is a little thin at the moment, but there are usually threads in individual cities for such adventures already, which aren't promoted here. Best thing to do if looking for open threads is to browse the forums of your chosen city, or to ask about them in the OOC thread for that city!

3) Threads made by established players who are looking for new players to become part of their family. Yes, this means you can start out as a blood relative to an established player. It may mean some tweaking of your ideas for your character, but that can be worked out between you and the PC whose family you are joining. It's fine to alter your character concept in this way at the start, even if you've already made a few posts in the game. If joining a family means you need to change your characters name, this can be done by requesting a name change in the help desk.

4) Threads made by new players who are looking to write with other players. By posting such a thread in the Matchmaker forum, you are letting the community know that your PC exists and want to get involved. Players may ask questions in your thread or they might send you a private message about meeting up in the game.

In the Welcome thread for the Matchmaker forum, there are suggested templates to fill out so that important information about your PC is clearly given - and the Matchmaker Lists track each thread made so you can find the PC you want to write with easily.

The Matchmaker forum has only recently been launched, so it's worth checking back every now and then to see what new threads have been made.
