Magnolia di Ambra is an upstanding Citizen
A Darkening of Bloody Erotica [Private]

~[Month of Melora, Season of Winter, Era XVI PF]~

Winter was so much better in Secyclion, and Magnolia wanted to celebrate in her style. With sex. And blood, preferably.

Magnolia hated cold almost more than anything except maybe abstinence, that was definitely worse than anything else. On this particularly brightening, or rather darkening, the redhead had selected to go to the Nexus. It was the dingiest of Secyclian bars and, on this darkening, the draconess in disguise hoped that would work for her. There was a reason that shady places on Telath worked, just for people like her.

On this particular darkening, Magnolia was dressed extravagantly in a robe sewn of black velvet. It hung thickly, draping richly around her svelte frame. It clasped at the shoulder in golden ties and dripped in rich folds around her delicate curves. The neck dove deeply, exposing much pale flesh before rejoining at the waist. It was cinched around the waist with a matching gold loop belt. It fell heavily to the floor. Magnolia was a petite woman, both in stature and in weight, and the dress accentuated that characteristic.

The Nexus was known for its cheapness, but that was not why Magnolia chose it for her location of pleasure for the darkening. It was for the drunk men. She swept in with an air of importance, her blue eyes sweeping through the room though making sure not to land or rest on any man. She raised her chin imperiously, her pale flesh exposed on the chest and arm. She swept forward as close as she could to the bar. She did not, however, order a drink. That was for someone else to do.

She tucked a stray lock of flaming red hair behind an ear and surveyed her surroundings. She was looking for men, especially men that were by themselves. Though, she was not afraid of groups.

"Cigarette, m'lady-love?" offered Robarthes, the bartender. It wasn't often any girl this attractive (or rather, this attracitve AND classy, unlike their resident nereid Psamathe, who, while beautiful, was a bit of a tramp given she never wore more than a seaweed sash and some oyster shells on a modest day), and the Ariumite wanted to impress. He handed her a Kyriazi Adelphi cigarette and offered a match.

In the background, Phillip of Daltina, resident minstrel, was singing, through a rough, cracked, drunk and harshly smoked throat, a madrigal, and playing a fiddle off-key while a couple of drunkards stomped around. Psamathe, one of only three women in the bar, the others being Magnolia and a grubby Nexian urchin who'd come along with the rest of the Nexian punks, was dancing on a table with a bottle of Glorf Glinsson whiskey. Classy place, right?

"Chairete, sugar-lips. Robarthes, get this pretty figure a half-pint of your finest house ale," grunted a greasy, unkempt looking Secyclid from one of the really backwater islands nearby, who plunked himself down on the stool next to Magnolia.

However, it just so happened that a small group of young Mainlander men had ventured over to the Nexus from the Mouse and the Mask, probably to get wrecked before going to the beach. A slim, fit-looking one, probably the son of some minor noble in Prime or Enamoria, came over and put his hand on the greasy Secyclid's shoulder. He was wearing loose, baggy silks, sandals, and a feathered Carnival mask which was still in style with some of the fresher prodigals on the Nephele Beach scene.

"Get out of here, slime-bucket, and shave your ass while you're at it. You're practically a dorin," he sneered, and the Secyclid mumbled something in Eunesian about tourists and sauntered back to his table, alone, staring jealously at Magnolia.

"Barkeep, two ouzo and two shots of Glorf Glinsson, for the lady and I." To Magnolia, "I can't even begin to imagine what you're doing in this hole."

oocI am already excited :D

Magnolia was a graceful woman, or so she strived to be, but she was not one to decline a cigarette. No, she appreciated the gesture as well as the soothing fumes of the rolled herbs and accepted gratefully. "Thank you very much, sir. It is not often that a lady is fortunate to find a gentleman so... gentlemanly as you are, sir." She accepted the cigarette, placing it between pursed lips painted red and leaned forward to accept the match. When lit, she took a slow, long drag and let the smoke out of her nose. She was no inexperienced smoker.

While the draconess in disguise might have found herself in one of the least classiest places in all of Secyclion, she was still not attracted to scum bags. She had tried it, a few times actually, and really the scent of blood could never cover up the scent of greasy filth. She had come here because she was at a distinct advantage, one that she had guessed, she was one of the few females to enter this dump. While she could not compete with the nereid (what mortal could?) she was certainly a much greater beauty than the hag dancing on the tables. Stupid filth.

Still she looked over with a smile at the slimy man that approached her with a smile painted on her face. If there was one thing that Magnolia was good at it was at being fake. She practically thrived off of it. She smiled warmly at the man and beat her eyes furiously, which was more of an act to hide her scanning eyes than anything else. "Oh, thank you. I was growing quite..." She planned to say parched but she did not have the opportunity before she had to assume the damsel in distress role.

She lightly placed a pale, small hand on her breast as the obviously non-Eunesian (not to mention, significantly more attractive) man turned the other man away from her. Her hero! She beamed at him, flashing her pearly whites framed by rouge-painted lips. "A shot? That is presumptuous, though I assume I owe you more than a shot for coming to my rescue..." She tucked her head to the side, a flush filling her cheeks so they were colored a shade that matched her hair. Her black, thick eyelashes worked furiously.

"What am I doing here?" Magnolia looked away, as if embarrassed, "I am afraid I lost my escort and party and I did not know where to find them. And then I came here and was accosted my all the strangest of men until you came." She turned to face him, beaming. "I... I am afraid I have never had this drink before but I would like to in your honor..." She held the shot up nervously as if she had never seen it before. In fact, this was a lie, but a lady never tells.

"To..." Magnolia looked suddenly embarrassed, "I am sorry, what can I have the pleasure addressing you with, sir? My name is Magnolia di Ambra." Another flutter of her eye lashes, the shot glass still held gently in her delicate fingers.

"Magnolia di Ambra. What is that, Alyxandryan? La Quistian?" asked the pretty Primean boy, clearly more familiar with the continent than his new Eunesian home. "Lord Federico Iachimo, of Talestra." Talestra was a small city on the coast of Prime province.

"Now, before you start to get the wrong impression, my friends and I," Federico gestured toward a handful of similarly dressed fops at a table, "are only here to get absolutely tight before we attend Lady Imo Viragus' manor party. She lives on Nicephorus Avenue."

Nicephorus Avenue was the street in Neos Megalis where the wealthiest of Mainlanders kept their vacation homes or, for the new permanent residents, their new manors. They were largely barred or unaccepted in Toichos Kikkimos or Arthro Galanos -- or at least, manors of that size and conspicuousness were highly frowned upon in those two far more traditional districts. While Mainlanders were allowed to buy property there, the people weren't very fond of it, and the bigger the house the bigger the disapproval. Neos Megalis, on the other hand, was the local laissez-faire of urban planning.

"Since you've unfortunately lost your party, I must insist, Magnolia, that you join ours," Federico took the shot and drained the ouzo, "Barkeep! Two more ouzo!" Then to Magnolia, "How long have you been here?"

Everybody asked that question when they knew the other wasn't from Secyclion.

The Secyclid at the table kept staring, bitterly at Federico, and perversely at Magnolia.

Her name? That was an unexpected question, though, considering the type of man that was before her maybe it really should not have been so unexpected. Certainly a foppish man dressed to the nines down to the very last frill would want to know the blood of everyone he encountered. The only problem was, Magnolia's name was purely fictitious. She fluttered her thick lashes at him and with a careless flick of her left hand, sent a shower of red locks over her shoulder, exposing more white, tender flesh on her chest. Distraction was key, "My father used to have an entire yard full of magnolia trees, he thought that there was nothing more exquisite than the delicate pink and white petals resting precariously on smooth, slender branches. That is, until he had me." She smiled playfully.

Apparently absentmindedly, her thin fingers traced the line where her dress touched her chest, lingering a moment at the corner, her eyes drifted to the window as if she intended to study the moon though now she was giving the man a chance to gawk without her 'knowing.' Magnolia felt that one must be able to show off her assets without making it seem like she was doing it. Slowly she turned back, "And di Ambra, naturally, is also from him." She winked playfully.

If only the man knew he flirted not with a redheaded girl but a dusky-scaled red draconess. Oh, to watch the blood drain from his face would have been next to orgasmic.

Damsel in distress. That is what Magnolia needed to be so that this foppish man could rescue her. Her eyes became doe-like, clear and wide, at the mention of where they were going. In actuality, Magnolia knew of the place for she had lived in Secyclin long enough to get a grasp of the place and she always acquainted herself with the rich first. Her heart pounded and adrenaline coursed through her veins; she was getting thrills and excited. This darkening promised to only get better.

"I am afraid I have not heard of the place," She blushed furiously in an attempt to make her mockery seem more legitimate. "I am afraid I am quite new to the island, just a few brightenings, and the terribly foreign names have made everything so difficult to learn." She scanned the man and his friends, "But I trust that in such good company it must be divine. I would be flattered to go." She drew in her arm, holding it at the elbow.

When the drink came Magnolia made many half-hearted protestations that she could not, she was such a slight girl, and that another drink would do her in... and many more of the like. But in the end she took the drink, sipping it first and then finishing it. She crinkled her brow and patted a petite hand to her lips as if it was much over powering then suddenly beamed at the man. "My Diana, that was... um... strong, was it not?" She made to rise and suddenly stumbled, reaching for the man's arm for support.

What was better than a damsel in distress? A drunk damsel in distress for she was ll the easier to slip between the sheets after a rescue, no? Hopefully Magnolia could keep her acting skills up for the rest of the darkening, though if he continued to drink, it would not be much of an issue.

The Secyclid glowering at her, and him, was noticed by Magnolia from the corner of her eye. She said nothing, but she kept him in her sights. While she was not afraid of him, she was mildly concerned he could put a damper on her plans.

"If it were that divine we wouldn't be getting tight before we went, would we?" quipped the Lord Federico Iachimo of Talestra, and his friends, who were all intently listening to hear whether or not their friend would pick up this clearly lost, clearly un-acclimatized damsel or not, and they gave a good round of laughter.

He downed his ouzo, and when Magnolia mentioned its strength he said, "The locals have something right. But, if you think it's a bit too strong, I have something more refined. Ieffreonian Kefalesso, if that tickles your fancy.

"Of course, I wouldn't want to make such a bold imposition on a lady such as fine as you.

"Barkeep! Another round for myself and the lady -- 'rale, there, careful, m'lady," Federico said, catching her as she stumbled, "Here, take this ouzo. Maybe you and I should go for a walk before we go anywhere else, don't you think? It's a bit mouldy in here, I don't think that helps. Some fresh air, I think."

He turned and winked at his friends, who, if Lord Iachimo was lucky tonight, would go on enviously to Imo Viragus' manor party, each of them thinking about what it would be like to be in Federico's place that night. Federico attempted to take Magnolia's arm and, if she were willing, lead her out of The Nexus leaving his friends behind him. The grimy Secyclid, however, seemed to take a great deal of offense at this forward-thinking manner. The Secyclid stood up, knocking his chair behind him, and yelled,

"Now boy, you Mainlander scum, that ain't no way to treat such a fine lady as that there!" as he broke his mug over the table.

"You're paying for that, Ekheneos!" shouted Robarthes, the bartender.

Lord Iachimo's friends, however drunk, stood up to meet the bastard, but first, everyone hung on to see what the lady might say. Finally the man had broke, and Magnolia's seduction wasn't going to be as darkly romantic as she might have hoped.
