The Zoo, like most of the public amenities on the Island, are sponsored and maintained by the Nobles and House of Cives. The Zoo however, isn't just being built by any other Noble of Secyclion. It was commissioned by the Thane for the people, and thus admission for locals are free. Tourists need only to pay a small, affordable fee to tour the entire compound, which goes to the wages of the keepers as well as maintaining and caring for the vicinity.
Through the Thane's travels, animals, sometimes even exotic and strange ones had been brought back to Secyclion, and these are always generously donated to the Zoo for displaying, one of the ways of showing foreign delegates the collection of the Thane, and the other as a form of attraction to the Island, whose income is based largely on tourism.
Built on the gentler sloping lands between the Red Wall and Arthro Galanos, the massive half an acre enclosure houses over thirty species of different critters, as well as some of the rare fauna that the Thane's wife have a penchant for. White, three story high walls surround the structure, while many fountains, including a gigantic man made structure that jets water over a series of sophisticated aquaducts can be seen positioned within the park.
From Elephants to White Tigers, rare species of birds to native species of wildlife, many kinds of animals can be seen living in their mimicked real life natural habitats. Other docile animals including deer, peacocks and rabbits are usually free to run about the pathways for visitors to pet, touch or feed, while the Menagerie is also home to several species of extremely poisonous creatures such as the Red Snaggled Tarantula and the Blue-eyed Frog of Syl'rosya.
Because Secyclion is also home to several dozen species of birds, a small aviary has also recently been constructed to house the native birds of Secyclion as well as migratory birds that often become a safe haven for these birds during Winter. Bird and animal shows are designated throughout the Brightening, and spectators will no doubt be thrilled by the dazzling performances and prizes to be won during these shows.
All walks of life would be impressed by the structure, be it the young or old, intellectual or ignorant, for many of these creatures that the Menagerie houses are so rare that just being able to witness them would be a thing that many hope for in their lifetimes.
