The Asunder Wedding... [Invitation Only]

Dianara the 2nd of Optia Era XVII Post Fractum

The Temple of Diana was the location of Dante and Hatorania's wedding. It's beauty and Dante's affiliation with it made it the perfect place for their nuptials.

The creamy marble walls of the opulent building make it instantly recognizable to any traveler, while the golden gates that open up to the massive gardens serve to reinforce its status among the other Temples of the Faith in Diana. Inside, a long polished stone pathway leads through beautiful gardens matched only by the Gardens of Hope, through to the huge cathedral. The double doors are an amazing sight, with gold lingings and ivory carvings laid into the oak. Carvings of mythical battles and appearances of the Goddess could be discerned from the multiple carvings. A great battle scene sticks out as you can see the great Goddess hovering above the battle, shielding a figure infront of his army. A moments hesitation is required before the doors, as though opening them once more would somehow diminish their beauty. Inside, the church is every bit as opulent as the rumours have spoken of. Stained glass windows rain beautiful, softly hued light onto the polished ivory benches below. A large statue of Diana sitting and watching the congregation stands at the front of the hall.

The only noticeable change for the wedding was that several narrow flower stands had been position along each side of the center aisle with ribbon chains linking them together. Within each flower stand was a bouquet of Candarose and Ioannolius flowers. Several priests had been recruited to be ushers. The robed figures seated the guests so that the bride's guests were on the left and the groom's on the right.

OOC: To be honest, you can describe most everything, I have no real idea of what happens at a wedding. Not in detail anyway, just the groom and bride say "I do" and kiss. There might be something about vows... O, btw, is Carnasch invited?

IC: Everything was prepared, Dante and Hatoriana (mostly Hatoriana) had seen to that. Guests were arriving, slowly at first, and then in more numbers as the time to begin drew nearer. They were all dressed finely, but appropriatly, not overbearing, as this was not thier day.

They greeted each other, after congradulating Dante and Hatoriana if they were present, and then seated themselves with audible anticipation for the coming event. The priest that Dante arranged to preside stood at the front of course, serenely waiting to begin.

Mixie stood outside the temple of Diana for a long moment, a look of suspicion on her face. It seemed ill-advised to go into the house of the gods, but then Dante had described Diana as benign. With a shrug of her shoulders, she decided to advance, giving her Raven to Sung-Te, and then entering the building.

Today she wore a shortish dress of black silk, with a silver braclet in she shape of a serpent that coiled up her arm. She carried a large flat rectangular package under her arm, which she left with the other presents.

She had some confusion with the ushers as she had never heard the term "groom" before, but at last got seated on Dante's side of the aisle.

Fizden arrived at the wedding. He had worn his best clothing for the occassion, and was more than happy to have received an invitation from his friend Dante. There was a package in his arm, a wedding gift for the soon to be married. He left it on the table and seated himself on the groom's side. He even recognized Her Grace Mixie Shadowmuffin, Thane of Abestat, from the thanal ball. He smiled and mingled with the other guests as he awaited the ceremony to begin. He gave a polite smile and friendly 'Serale' to Mixie from his seat. "It seems we share the friendship of Dante, Your Grace. How do you fare these brightenings?" he asked with a sincere and charming smile. He then returned to waiting politely for the cermonies to begin.

Breeze D'Rinishad is a benevolent AdventurerBreeze D'Rinishad is a benevolent Adventurer
Breeze D'Rinishad had never been to a wedding before. In fact, she considered, she wondered just what all the fuss about weddings was about. But still, this was a perfect opportunity to wear a beautiful dress (that Straylor had paid for) and some gorgeous jewellry (that Straylor had bought) and, come to that, some to-die-for shoes that Straylor had, well, bought. Maybe they weren't such bad things after all, these wedding things, she decided.

So, in to the soon to be happening celebrations stepped one Breeze D'Rinishad. Her long blonde hair was piled up atop her head with a few stray tendrils falling down in cascading curls. Her dress was a vivid blue, halter-neck and backless with a flowing silk skirt which ended at her knees. The waist was wrapped around with a wide sea-green belt of silk and her shoes were sea-green also. At her neck sparkled a necklace of gold with vivid blue sapphires in a pattern of trailing leaves, with long drop sapphire earrings and a gold and sapphire bangle on her wrist.

She had arrived with Straylor and Elmaryia, delighted at the prospect of coming to this wedding, and so she clutched her sea green handbag and walked in, looking around with interest.

Amongst the guests arriving was Carnasch, one of Dante's trusted freinds and employees, and a very large Vagaran. Somewhat of a barbarian, Carnasch was dressed very nicely compared to usual.

He wore tall black leather knee boots, with tan dubloon pants. Above his pants was a deep green finely cut and ebroidered in gold coat, with a white shirt underneath. He wore a silver medalion imbedded with a large emerald at its center. His normally long, ragged hair was trimmed and combed neatly, as was his beard.

A smile was on his scarred and tattoo'd face as he greeted his Draconic freind. The human stood head and shoulders above his freind, but that had never mattered between them. They each had thier own talents and they respected each other.

After greeting Dante, Carnasch found a seat near the back, because he wanted to make sure that everyone could see, and he knew his large stature would block peoples view of the events.

Niven is a famous HeroNiven is a famous HeroNiven is a famous Hero

Finding the temple with very little trouble, Niven looked up at the beautiful building in all it's splendor and smiled. She was so honored to have been invited to Dante's wedding and was very happy for him and his wife to be. Smoothing the wrinkles from her emerald coloured silk gown, which made her eyes shine brighter than normal, the elf made sure she looked her best. Self consciously she put her hand to her hair, which was swept elegantly into a stylish up-do, a handsome deviation from it's normal free flow down her back. Taking a deep breath, Niven gracefully made her way inside the building.

Spotting Dante immediately, Niven waited her turn amongst the throng. When it was her turn she smiled and greeted her friend warmly. She then looked around for anyone she knew. It wasn't long before she spotted a woman with green skin and wondered if it could be the same woman she'd met in Paxia a few eras ago. What was her name? Niven couldn't remember, but she made sure to find her at the reception after the ceremony.

Pulling her attention away from the green woman, Niven turned and spotted Carnasch sitting in the back. An amused smile played on her lips as she wondered how she'd missed him before and she made her way towards him, happy to have found a friendly face.

Antonius Verilius is a glorious SuperheroAntonius Verilius is a glorious SuperheroAntonius Verilius is a glorious Superhero
The Leonard family had been invited to a wedding. Good for them. When Antonius had heard the news, his first thoughts were of wondering how that had anything to do with him. It was only after a few moments that it really sunk in. The Leonard family had been invited to a wedding. And even though Anton was newly known to the bosom of the family, that meant he had been invited. And again, he wondered it had to do with him. He didn't know the bride nor the groom. Why would he want to go to a stranger's wedding? Then it hit him... the Leonard family had been invited to a wedding. That meant the family was going to go and they were going to like it. Anton was going to have to get used to this. It was almost like being in the military again... only with better clothes.

The family had arrived together, but somehow Antonius had gotten seperated from them. He didn't know how he'd managed such a feat. But if anyone were going to achieve something as silly as that, it would have been Anton. So here he was at a stranger's wedding, alone. Tightening his cravat, the man entered the ceremony hall. He had remembered to shave this brightening, which was a feat in and of itself. Chocolate eyes scanned the room in hopes of catching a glimpse of a member of his family. No such luck. That would have been too easy though.

When an usher came up to him and asked who he was here to see, Anton fell silent. He hadn't even bothered to inquire as to which side they were going to sit on. He knew the wedding was for someone called Dante Asunder and he was marrying Hatorania... but that did nothing for which side he was to sit in. Once again, he looked around praying to whichever god decided to listen to him. Considering the surroundings, it would most likely be Diana.

After what seemed like an eternity, Anton still could not see anyone. Either his prayers had fallen on deaf ears, or they had been heard and it deemed much more entertaining to watch the man fend for himself. This trend was starting to get tiresome. "The... bride?" he answered the usher and was quickly shown a seat on the bride's side of the ceremony. He had a fifty percent chance to be correct. There was a sinking sensation in his stomach that indicated he had chosen wrong. It was too late now though.

Dante swallowed nervously as the moment was fast approaching. He was wearing the tuxedo that Hatorania had picked out for him. It was black and matched his scales so much that it was difficult to keep track of where the jacket ended and the dracon began. He had on a white shirt with black buttons and a silver vest, that actually only fastened around the back underneath the jacket. This suited the dracon well enough because he had already had to pay for alterations to the tux to accommodate his wings and tail.

He smiled nervously at his friends as they entered. Many were closer than friends, even though they weren't outright blood relatives. Carnasch was one of those. He had fought side by side with Dante more times than the dracon could count. Only one time in their long history together had Carnasch ever not been there when Dante needed him and as such the dracon had chosen him as his best man. With a look of irritation at the Vagran for standing in the back he waved the giant forward to stand by him.

Dante gave Niven a hug as she was a dear friend who had stood by him through many a trying time. "I'm so glad you could come," Dante greeted the elf with a smile before releasing her from the hug and allowing her to take her seat.

OOC: Im switching this to a peer mod so that I can post with Carnasch. Apparently you cant NPC your own PC. Period.

IC: Carnasch saw Dante waving him up, so he stood again and started up. He saw Niven who ironically was on her way to sit back by him, and he greeted her pleasantly, giving her a gently hug. Her tiny elven form was, of course, engulfed.

When Carnasch reached the front he asked Dante, "Yes?" It was somewhat of a quizical question. He knew he was the best man, he just didnt know what that meant. Marriage was very different event in his culture, and ceremonies were rarely held outside of the family. They also often involved tattooing, or sometimes even branding.

Pleased by the hug she got, yet disappointed that her seat mate was now otherwise occupied, Niven stopped and looked around. She saw no one else she knew, aside from the green woman she was curious about, but that could all change with a little patience. Niven hoped that she'd see Jirael here.

With a slight shrug, Niven changed direction and moved to sit a row behind the green woman, but a few seats to her left. Niven wanted to make sure that she could keep the woman in her line of sight in order to get a chance to talk to her later on. She also wondered how Dante knew her, but she could always ask her friend that later.

Once seated, Niven's green eyes observed the decorated temple, taking in the loveliness, in order to keep herself occupied.

Jirael'eri tel'noss Luschae is an upstanding Citizen
Jirael had been avoiding the city, but at the same time he could not decline to be present at Dante and Hatorania's wedding... They were perhaps some of the closest things to family that he had ever known; and though the boy had begun to learn of his true family, he could not turn a blind eye to the things that Dante had done for him.

Standing outside, the boy stared at the Diana's temple... it had been quite some time since last he attended any event held in accordance with the Church; once a member of its clergy (so to speak) he was hesitant in his approach. He wondered, even though Dante had invited him, how Diana herself would respond to his presence...

Still The air of defiance was clear, for those who knew the boy. He was a little different from his shy self this day, partially because he was in this city! He was dressed in simple clothes, light cotton pants and a matching tunic, both left in their natural white color. The notable thing however were his wings, in stark contrast to the light skin of the Esh'lahier, were dark black wings, reminiscent of the statues of the Ancients that graced the city around the temples... This, was his act of Defiance... though he still had not become accustomed to the stares that still came.

Calmly he entered into the Temple, bracing himself a little after the first step, unsure as to what would happen... On the inside, it was as he had expected it to be... He tried to hold in his awe, as this was the first actual wedding that he had been allowed to attend, but there was the tradition behind it all that gave it away. Still, there is something to be said for seeing a temple in decoration for such an event for the first time...

There were so many people that had already arrived, and most of them were unfamiliar. Though Dante, and Niven were simple for him to spot... As well as Carnashe, though he was more nervous around that particular human, and instead headed towards where Niven had taken stay, hoping to avoid getting accosted by any of the crowd before being able to make his way to safety; giving a small wave towards Dante just in the hopes that the Dracon would be able to see him as he moved about.

Arrivals ~Entrance of Straylor and Elmaryia

Straylor and Breeze had come from Trysvale, while Elmaryia had met them in the city. As such, a small fleet of carriages marked the arrival of the Barony of House Leonardes. It was a known fact that Straylor and the groom had a particularly strong friendship. Their lies had come far before the material wealth and prestige. The two were brothers at arms, having defeated a demon during a bounty hunt in Narim, and the pair had been business partners and entrepreneurs before the dreaded Longest Winter. It was no surprise, therefore, that Straylor was quite excited for his good friend. Dante had always stood beside him, and now it was time to lend his support and encouragement. One could only guess what the dracon and priest of Diana was thinking about on his wedding brightening.

The Baron donned a more elaborate suit for the event. It was made from navy blue silk and velvet and carried the style of the Legion. He purchased it in Abestat during his brief visit and encounter with one Mixie Shadowmuffin. An elaborate dress saber hung on his side, a faux symbol of his military prowess. The suit even came with a triangular officer's hat which was custom ordered with the suit. Extended a gloved hand toward the first carriage, Straylor helped his wife ascend the few steps toward the ground. Behind them, Breeze was helped by a handsome young footman wearing House Leonardes livery of crimson and gold.

And the Baron and Baroness' gift to the couple-to-be?

Well, that was a bit of a surprise to be sure. But it was small enough to fit in the left front pocket of Straylor's jacket. But apparently valuable enough to keep close to his heart. An octet of Imperial bodyguards flanked the trio as they proceeded toward the hall: four marines from Straylor's security duty as Governor, and anther four for Elmaryia as Royal Consul to the Carmelyn.

Should Straylor, Elmaryia, and Breeze find Dante in the group of strangers and acquaintances, the Baron would go ahead and greet his friend first. "Congratulations", he said in solemn tones, shaking Dante's hand with his own. "To new beginnings, my old friend. And to a lifetime of happiness." He smiled.

Bladewyn Imaire is a glorious SuperheroBladewyn Imaire is a glorious SuperheroBladewyn Imaire is a glorious SuperheroBladewyn Imaire is a glorious SuperheroBladewyn Imaire is a glorious Superhero

Bladewyn was no stranger to the Temple of Diana. In addition to being the city's Thane, she was also a priestess of the Goddess, and frequently came to the temple to pray and worship her patron deity. On most brightenings, she visited the temple in her brightening-to-brightening clothes, but this brightening was a special occasion. The Thane of Diana arrived in a long blue dress with a translucent ivory shawl to cover her shoulders. Her long blonde hair was plaited back with little white flowers intertwined--the handiwork of her talented housekeeper, Marcelle. Bladewyn's adopted son Luricor wore as sharp an outfit as could be expected of the toddler Mer, in colors to match his mother. With wide blue eyes, he looked around the opulent interior, gaze lingering on the glimmering stained glass windows.

The Thane paused upon entering the temple, silently thanking the goddess for granting such happiness to Dante and Hatorania. Thank you for allowing my friends to celebrate their happiness within your walls, My Lady. Her short prayer done, she raised her head and proceeded in, beckoning her assistants behind her.

Five of Bladewyn's assistants came behind her bearing three enormous boxes of a bright robin's egg blue. Two of the boxes were four or five feet tall, and the other was extremely wide. Bladewyn led the assistants over to where all of the other wedding guests were placing Dante and Hatorania's gifts. They managed to clear space enough for the eye-catching boxes, then opened them to expose the items inside.

Each of the two boxes contained a six-layer wedding cake which was wide for support at the bottom and gracefully tapered at the top. One was frosted in white with shimmering fondant roses and rose petals made to look as if the confection had been set beside a flowering bush. It smelled of delightful lemon--most likely indicating the contents of the cake. The other gave off a scent of decadent, seductive chocolate, with chocolate shavings cleverly arranged into dark leaves, with raspberries acting as the blossoms of the rich flowers covering the cake. The third and final box contained an assortment of truffles made of several kinds of chocolate: dark, milk, white, orange, raspberry, mint... And each tiny truffle was streaked with edible gold or silver dust. They gleamed like marbles, scattered around the base of each cake.

Of course, the wedding guests would have to wait until after the ceremony to taste the delicious, pleasantly chilled cakes and truffles, but they were on display for everyone to admire before they got sliced and served. Pleased with the Jaedaxian boulangerie's successful delivery, Bladewyn thanked her assistants and allowed them to take their leave. The Thane then took a seat near the back of the church in case Luricor needed to get some fresh air during the ceremony. It also allowed her to have a full view of the beautiful temple.

Bladewyn's bodyguard V'lar came in shortly after to sit next to the young Thane. He was wearing his usual Vigile uniform and armor, and a sword at his hip. Bladewyn gave the younger man a surprised look up and down.

"Nice of you to finally give your uniform a wash."

V'lar gave Bladewyn a carefree grin. "Well, I figure a wedding's as good an occasion as any."

Bladewyn rolled her eyes and hefted Luricor so that he was dozing against her shoulder, and Thane and bodyguard waited for the ceremony to begin.

Mixie watched the guests enter with interest. She had not thought that she would recognize many of them, but four of the faces were familiar. Besides Straylor and Elmaryia, she also recognized Bladewyn, thane of Diana, and Niven, an elf that she had met in a tavern an era or so previous. Mixie had met so few people that the name stood out to her. She turned and gave a nod to Niven, but the room seemed ceremonially quiet and so she waited to speak.

Sung-Te, her bodyguard, came in and sat down next to her. His dress was formal Kemite garb, and his long hair and been caught back in a clasp. He took a slow look around the room and then settled in to his chair. It was unlikely that there would be trouble at a wedding, but Mixie had snuck away from him so often that he was inclinded to take note of where all the exits were.
