The Needle and Thread -Clothing and Tailoring

In the center of Narim’s ever busy port city, a small, two story building stood, out of the way, blending in with the architecture around it. Yet it is unique in the way, that it is the only one of its kind in the whole of the city. A wooden sign hangs from the small roof overhanging the porch that leads to the front door; on the sign, painted in delicate white paint is the symbol of a needle, and a wooden cotton reel. It is obvious from this that the shop is for the selling of clothes and tailoring. The sturdy wooden door stands open, welcoming any that wish to venture in for a purchase.

Once inside, the clean and fresh smell of new material hits the senses, as the silks and velvets, linen and other materials glimmer in the new beam of light that had entered the store.
A clerk sits behind the counter working tirelessly over a few pieces of clothing. A stitch here, some cloth there.. Sometimes the work is of tailoring, other times, it is merely of putting the finishing touches on some of the store's newest items.

“Serale,” she says in a quite and welcoming voice, “Welcome to the Needle and Thread, where your clothing and tailoring need can be met. My name, is Karliyna. How can I be of assistance this fine brightening?"

The same question and introduction met the ears of all that entered the Needle and Thread. It was customary and friendly, something that was needed if they were to have the best business possible.

Behind Karliyna and to her left, a plywood board was mounted. On it, prices were painted in a delicate hand, easily legible, even when read as far away as from the door.

Karliyna smiles brightly at every customer, it seems. Every now and then, while waiting for the newest person to venture through the shop's door to speak, she tends to twirl strands of her blonde hair around her finger. It was a habit, really. Blue eyes continue to hone in on all who enter, seeking to help them, as tailoring and clothing were her passion.

Theodrin entered with the intent of getting some extra clothing. He wanted to look a little better then some poor peasant, which the clothes he wore now gave the appearance of.

Fine quality of tailoring was found all about the inside of the shop, and Theodrin was indeed satisfied with the merchandise present before him. He knew he had picked a good shop to find excellently made clothing for reasonable prices. He immediately went to the desk and was greeted by the shopkeeper.

“Serale,” she says in a quite and welcoming voice, “Welcome to the Needle and Thread, where your clothing and tailoring need can be met. My name, is Karliyna. How can I be of assistance this fine brightening?"

He immediately knew she was kind and her customer service would be just as great as the clothing that she was selling. So far Theodrin was very satisfied with Narim. He was politely treated at Fovart's and now here.

He was immediately interested in purchasing a cloak.
"Excuse me, I'm interested in purchasing a cloak. If you have a dark blue one in stock, I should like to buy it," he said to the woman behind the counter.

Theodrin:

Karliyna smiled lightly at the customer for a moment before thinking over her stocks. She wasn't sure if they had a dark blue cloak.. Hmm...
"Let me go check, Sir. One moment."

The clerk quickly disappeared from behind the counter. She was, without another word, outside her place of sitting that she spend most of the brightening at and looking around and through her stocks.

After a few moments of digging through various articles of clothing, a sound of success issued from the woman's mouth.
"Aha!"

Scuttling back over behind her counter once more, Karliyna laid out a rather nice looking cloak made of linen. It had a simple piece of rope strung to it to tie around one's neck and a little hood to put over the head when things got cold or the light needed to be kept out. It had a bordering vertical sides where, when tied tightly enough, they hung side by side, was embordered in a simple light gray thread. The pattern was of leaves.

"I particularily like this design. Rather nice, don't you think? Most all our cloaks that aren't specially requested are thirty-five crowns, like the sign reads, if you'd like to purchase this one." Spoke Karliyna as she laid out the article of clothing over the countertop for Theodrin to look at and pass proper judgement on as to whether it woudl suit him or not.

Theodrin picked up the cloak, looking more closely at it. "Yes, it is a nice pattern," he replied.

She told him the price, which was well within his range. "I'll take it," he said. He counted out 35 Crowns and handed them over to her.

"Thank you for your service," he complimented with a nod and a slight smirk.

"Before I leave, I have another question," Theodrin began, glancing at the woman behind the counter. "Is it possible to purchase a leather surcoat, or perhaps a linen one here? If so, I'd like to purchase a dark green linen one, or a dark brown leather one. If you could tell me if this item is possibly available, and how much it would cost, I'd appreciate it," Theodrin told the woman.

He patiently awaited a response.

Theodrin:

"Why yes, of course you can get a surcoat here!" Karliyna replied with a wide smile. She promptly left the counter, a measuring tape in hand, and moved to Theodrin. She measured just about any length she could think of, eager to perform the job she so loved to the finest extent, and scrawled the numbers on a wooden board which lay on the counter.

"Now, if you would just tell me from what material you would like your coat made, as we have both linen and leather, I'll be happy to make it for you." Karliyna said when she returned to her position behind the counter.

"I'll take dark brown linen, I suppose," Theodrin said almost undecidedly. "Yes, that should do..."

He was happy the shop was able to provide him with a surcoat. Now he would just wait for it to be made and then he would purchase it.

Theodrin:

"Sure thing, hon." Karliyna retorted, still smiling. "That'll be 15 crowns, another five for the color, and it'll be at least half a cycle until it's done. If you want, you can pay when you next come back. You're lucky business isn't strong right now, usually ye'd have to wait much more!"

Having informed him of the neccesary payment and waiting period, Karliyna promptly scribbled a note on a piece of parchment, and handed it to Theodrin. The details of his orders were written there, in spiralling letters, as well as the payment required. On another blank piece of parchment, she scribbled the measurements she had taken earlier, along with a short description of the order.

"I'll pay now," he said. He quickly counted out the twenty crowns and handed them over. "I guess I'll be back when it's ready," he told her as he headed for the exit.

Galford:

Karliyna remembered him. Oh, how well she remembered him, the man she once loved, and the man that she hadn't seen for almost a pattern. She recognized him as soon as he set foot inside her store. When Galford had reached the counter, and asked her the question, Karliyna moved from where she sat, and came up close to the man. She looked deep into his eyes, and smacked his hard across his face. The blow was stinging with a year of anger, concern, and genuine fear. Galford could have no doubt- she had remembered him.

Now that the matter was cleared from the way, she returned behind the counter. "How may I help you, sir?" She asked Galford with a cold voice. Though she didn't show any other sign of recognition, there could be no mistaking. Her initial reaction, and the icy color of her blue eyes, spoke as powerfully as any words could.

OOC- It's only a girl, lad! There will be others!

Theodrin:

OOC- You know, you don't actually have to wait five days in RL. You can just post that you return after half a cycle. When you do that, I'll reply and give you your coat.

OOC-Opes, silly me.

IC-

Theodrin returned hoping that his surcoat was finished, he might've been a bit early. "Excuse me, I ordered a surcoat a few brightenings back. I paid in advance and I was wondering if it was finished?" He questioned.

Galford:

Karliyna continued to stare at the man as if she didn't know him. "How may I help you?" She questioned again, speaking slowly, and in a voice mocking in its coldness.

OOC: Galford, lad, you haven't seen her in a pattern. Usually, when you tell tell your GF nothing, and leave her for a year, she's bound to be majorly pissed off. Also, in that case, she doesn't really count you as her boyfriend... It's over, man! Please, don't write only OOC messages anymore. Your sorcery practice awaits, as well.

Theodrin:

Karliyna slid the crowns into a small chest at her feet. When she straightened up in her seat, and noticed Theodrin was on his way out, she bid him a short "Serale", and turned to speak with the next customer awaiting service.

Five brightenings later:

Karliyna lifted her eyes from the wool tunic she was knitting as Theodrin entered the store. "Serale to you as well," she replied sarcastically. "If you've a pending order, and payed in advance, I probably gave you a note with the details of your order. I'll need to see it before I can give you anything. Do you have it on you?"

Theodrin handed over the note she had written out for his order several brightenings earlier. "This should be it," he said. He awaited the completion of the surcoat so that he could take it and head out. He assumed it's quality would be on par with the cloak he had previously bought here.
