A messenger, wearing the unique uniform of the Phoenix Legionaries, rode up to the establishment that he had been told contained the Riparian Commander’s Office. There he dismounted and moved to the door, knocking thrice he waited to be allowed entry. Asking of the person who had opened the door.
”Serale, I bare a message for the Commander of the Riparian Guard from His Excellency the Provincial Commander, Lord Raliric Ered`Gard. Once he was able to present the letter to the commander he would wait for a reply; if none was given he would ride back to Primus Gaudeo.
The letter read:
Unto the Garrison Commander here received,
Does His Imperial Excellency
Lord Raliric Ered`Gard
Provincial Commander of Centripax
send most humble greetings and salutations.
Commander,
A mission of great importance faces Centripax; if successful it should see one of the enemies of the Empire destroyed. It is my hope that you, as the garrison commander of Riparia will send fifty of your most skilled soldiers to Primus Gaudeo to report to the Provincial Commander by no later than the First Solaria of Aperitus, Era III of the Celestine Mandate, Era XII Post Fractum.
Unfortunately due to the nature of the mission I am unable to give you any more information other than it is a mission of great importance. The soldiers you send should be: intelligent; of human, dracon or katta descent; have at least a professional standard of at least one weapon of their own choosing; and above all others have no social attachment. I will advise you that it is foreseeable that these men will not return home to their families.
Do not let Centripax down in her need; supply these soldiers as close to the above mentioned date as possible.
