Basic Mining / Jewel Crafting - Gondil Brokenblade

OOC: Sorry for the late startup of your thread for the other training, but hopefully we can now start to get you on your way.

IC: The Mining Company had looked to recruit some new staff, a notice being posted on the City Noticeboard. The chief of the mine, waited with patience for new people, whether they had mining experience or not, to come to the mines to be sized up to see if they would be suitable for the work that was needed to be carried out.

Gondil was trying desperately to remember the directions from the notice in town. “Hmm, I think it was about hea’…” He turned the corner around a large, run down building. It was on the outskirts of the inner city and he could see the drastic decrease in shops and the quality of property. Sure enough, in the distance, a huge encampment of machinery and workers littered the side of the mountain.

Although it seemed rather crowded, the notice said that they were looking for new staff. Most of the tents in front of the mines seemed very small- most likely living quarters. The biggest one, however, seemed to outweigh the others considerably. “If I know mines, that’s probably the chief’s…” Gondil muttered to himself.

He had just seemed to stroll into camp and nobody even asked him any questions. Everyone seemed entirely too busy to even glance at anything that didn’t concern them directly. Gondil was used to this. Peeling over a flap on the massive tent, he peeked his head inside the door.

“Hello, is anybody here? I’m here about the job…”

OOC - there would have been some guards posted at the main door to the mining company but we'll dismiss that for now.

IC: The chief of the mining facility looked up as this new person looked in on his office.

Come in, Come in Lad. Take a seat. Now ya say ya here about the job. Have ya any experience in mining at all? If ya haven't it's no real problem as ya get training on the job here.

OoC: Heh, oops…

IC: Before Gondil could even think about his answer, a clanking of mail and armor sounded outside of the chief’s tent.

“Hmm, looks like somebody was slackin’ off hea’…” he whispered to himself, with a smirk. “Oh, no sa’, no experience, although that may seem strange coming’ from a dwarf. However, I did dabble in some lumberin’ in my younger days.”

Gondil was trying to make himself seem older, but wasn’t sure if it was working. He was careful to keep standing up straight and halfway presentable. This was the first job he was applying for without the help of his father. It was starting to become more of the necessity of his independence, rather than of his money pouch.

The Mine Cheif smiled for he knew what it was to have to start to learn what it was to work in a mine. His mind went back those forty years when he firststarted work as a younger dwarf. Times were a changing all the time, and methods changed a liile since the tim ethat he had started. In essence the job hadn't changed much, but there were always improvements that could have been made to the work carried out.

OK then Lad, it would seem as if you have just enrolled as part of my staff here at the mine. Whilst ya are learning the trade of mining, ya will be paid twenty Five crowns per cycle. The training takes roughly about a cycle, so after ya complete the training, ya will then move up to the rank of Miner grade one, this gives the princely sum of Thirty two Crowns a week. If you are ready to start I first need ya to sign the employee log to show you are now part of the mine.

As part of the mines employees, you are legally bound to allow the mining company to take any praise for this new design. So sign the log and then we can begin this new training.

Gondil gently rubbed his chin in intrigue. “An extra 7 crowns a cycle after the first?” he thought to himself. “That’s at least a few more ales.” He said with a smile. “Well, les’ see hea’…”

Gondil Brokenblade, he wrote on the employee log with the best penmanship he could muster. “Alright, sir, when do we begin? I’m anxious to get to work!” he said, with thick anticipation in his voice.
