Basic Battleaxe - Grenore

Master Go'axa was inside the room waiting for the new student to show up. He began going through some warmup exercises, situps, pushups, stretches, and a little light running on the spot. He mixed up all the warmup exercizes, continuing until the new student arrived and he continued until his routine was finished, so if that meant the new arrival hadsd to wait for a moment, then that was something that he was used to, but as the master, the student had better respect this, for Students were likely to find that a teacher could hurt them quite nicely.

[Grenore]

Grenore walked to the room instructed to. When he entered the room he found a man do some excerises. Apperantly preparing for the training. He walked up to the man and said, "Serale m'names Grenore. I'm guessing your my trainer?"

[Ladon]

MAster Go'axa waited until he had completed his exercises before answering the new student.

Aye Lad, I'm ya trainer. Go'axas me name, and you be master Grenore. So now the introductions over, ya better get ya butt in gear and start to warmup, as this training ya are about to start will involve the use of muscles that I doubt that ya have used in a while.

First ya need to do some stretches as this will get your musles ready to work. Then, I want ya to run around the edge of the room thirty times, and then come back before me and do fifity pushups, and fifty situps. This will get ya warmed up, and if ya do it correctly, it should mean I wont be carting ya off to the local doctor with pulled muscles. So get to it lad, and then we will get ya on the road to the first part of ya training.

[Grenore]

"Aye sir," is all Grenore could think to say to Go'axas' statement. With that he bent down and did some toe touches, then multiple other streches after that. He cracked his back and took off running around the edge of the room. He did'nt think this part wound be hard on account of the fact he traveled alot. And that made his leg muscles pretty strong. But he was very wrong by the time he hit that last lap his legs where ahcing. He ran over past Go'axas and started his fifty push-ups. At first it was fairly easy then by the time he hit twenty-five his arms were getting tired. But he pushed on for he could'nt fail. When he finished those he laid down in position and started the sit-ups. This was the part he dreaded. He never worked his abbs. He had a half beerbelly and half was just plain gut. After about twenty his abbs were burning. But still he pushed on until he finished.

He stood up and said "All done sir" and stood there awaiting his next instructions.

Master Go'axa continued his own warmup routine whilst Grenore carried out the warm up that Master Go'axa had stated he needed to complete. It wasn't easy for a dwarf to do some of the exercises that MAster Go'axa had asked Grenore to perform, but all in all, He had had to learn and complete these exercises, and they had helped in the making of the dwarf that he was now.

Grenore, now that you are all warmed up lad, I want you to go gat your weapon, if you have it with ya, otherwise you can go to the rack of practise weapons that we have against the wall there. When you have gained a weapon I want you to come and stand in front of me in a stance that you feel would be the correct way to stand. I'm not asking this to see if you are clever or something lad, I just want to see what you already know, and if you don't know, then have a think 'bout it, and try to stand as you think would be the best way.

[Grenore]

"Aye sir." Grenore went over to the corner and picked up his weapon. He decided it would be better to use his own so he could get the feel of it; and so he could get used to it. He walked back over in front of Master Go'axa and thought for a minute. Then he decided on his stance. He put his left foot slightly in front of his right, because he likes to step off with his right. Then he gripped his axe at the near bottom and about halfway from the top; and he held the axe out about ten inches from his chest so it would be easy to swing.

He looked up at Master Go'axa and waited for him to make a comment on his stance and to give him his next instructions.

Master Go'axa was no fool and he had always taught this way, for he found it gave the best results. He watched as Grenore picked up his axe and set himself in his stance he thought was the best to stand in, Master Go'axa was now able to deduce two things; Grenore was righthanded. because of the way he stood, with his right leg slightly back form the left. It was always good to have the strong leg back a little ways as this was the leg that would be relied on to give power and strength. The second thing was that Gondil had a good idea of waht was a good stance to stand in.

Good lad, ya have the right ideas here, but ya need to make sure ya keep ya lags about a xoulder s legth apart and that ya don't have too big a gap between front and back legs other than that, ya stance is set. this is what ya need to remember as ya Basic Stance, so if I ask ya to get into this again ya know what ya need to do.

Now for ya first swing. I want ya to take a swing with ya blade from right to left. Be careful as ya may not realise how much strength, and power ya need to use but what ya will realise as ya swing is that ya ciontrol the power with ya strong, right, hand, and help to control the movement with your left. Your right hand will also move naturally down the shaft of ya axe as ya swing so, again be aware of this. Anyways have a go at ya fist attacking swing and we will see what ya make of it.
