Dagger Aslan's Tenets of Honor

I have served Aslan now faithfully for many eras as his trusted, always willing to take up my blade when battle calls and willing to help others when the banner of victory has been won. I see many new faces in the church of late and it warms me to embrace such strong brothers in the glory of the mighty one.

Now, I am no royal scribe, just a warrior. But it seems that in battle, many questions arrive from my brethren. Indeed my own crusades have questioned my valor many a time when I walked through the dark corridors of shadow. I hope that these codes that have been passed down blade to blade, and honor bound shall keep the young ones safe. So that in the end they may be called home with honor.

Codes of the Blade

First Tenet
Blades Forward

You shall never engage a foe from behind. This act is cowardly and unfitting of the might of Aslan. Let the foes of darkness see the light of your eyes and honor of your heart.

Second Tenet
Stand by your Banner

When you leave a friend behind you forsake your banner. All of Aslan's warriors are special to him... thus they shall all be embraced as such: protect your brothers. The time will come when some must fall, but bring them back. Allow their families the chance to continue holding honor in you and others.

Third Tenet
Horn's Last Call

To sound the horn of retreat is to admit defeat not in your blade but in your heart. It is a move saved only for when you are in dire peril. Still there is honor in saving lives and not squandering them needlessly. The blade of wisdom is granted to those who know when to use it.

Fourth Tenet
Shields Up Against Aeternian Might

Never let your heart or soul falter to darkness. Keep your soul pure lest the forces of darkness might see it. You must always be cautious of your situation. Never let your guard slumber for it is in those moments that evil strikes.

Fifth Tenet
Meditation of Valor

Remember even in combat to always meditate. Prayer is important to morale. Keep your faith in your heart and your words when each brightening comes. To falter in this task is to break your blade. A warrior without his faith can never truly be a knight of Aslan.

Codes of the Soul

Tenet Six
The Black Heart

You shall lose something on your quest of honor. At some point we all have. You must never strike back at your foes in the manner that they struck you. Your honor must always be held higher than theirs. Vengeance does have its place, but revenge on the unarmed is no different to murder.

Tenet Seven
Brother against Brother

Betrayal is an act of cowardice and one of the highest forms of treachery one can commit. Should you betray your brother by blade or action you have struck your family down. You are a child of Aslan and your brothers will stand by you until the end, be sure you do the same for them.

Tenet Eight
Silver Tongued Words

Greed is a powerful foe of honor and it has brought down many a young knight. You must keep a constantly vigilant heart. Never hide something from your brothers in your eyes or in your spirit. To do so is an act against your family and your god.

Tenet Nine
Shelter for Innocence

It is hard in your journey to know who will be your ally and your foe. No matter the situation we hold as one of our deepest regards to never strike down an unarmed woman or man. They might throw words at your soul but you must keep strong. Children are sacred to Aslan; to strike one is to condemn yourself forever.

Tenet Ten
Family Oath

Your oath to your family is as important as any vow or sacred rite you take to Aslan. Keep time for your children that they might see the glory of Aslan and grow in it. Love your spouse that they might find the love Aslan shares in you. Never fail to neglect that which you hold most dear.

I pray these Tenets offer as much assistance to others as they have to me. I believe that with them, the banners of Aslan’s followers shall sail higher than the tallest mountains once again. Evil always seeks my blade ever faster with each passing brightening. In setting this on the desk of the priest, it is my wish that it might find the eyes of other followers, so that they may always keep the honor, and the faith.
