The first brightening of Melora in the season of Winter Era XVII Post Fractum
As usual Isil went to the city to work pro bono as a healer and thaumaturge. Upon his arrival he noticed the Redwood Market was decorated with banner and streamers. It was a sight to be seen. Isil wanted to acquire a new bow string and when to The Valiant Heart Weapons and Archer Shop. As usual he would propose the owner an exchange of services. Isil didn’t receive money for his services as a healer and thaumaturge and asked nothing in return, but when he needed something he would offer and exchange of services. People who had helped him could just call him brightening or darkening and expect to be cured or helped in any other way Isil was able to help.
Thus, Isil entered the shop. The elf was amazed by the magnificent bows and weapons all around. He had a powerful weapon himself, having brought a long war bow, a weapon listed as having siege impact potential, from the imperial army. But he knew this shop could provide him with a much lighter and much more elegant weapon from the same class. That however wasn’t a priority, and he was much more interested in function than looks so this bow was good enough. Isil addressed whoever was attending to the shop and asked if his exchange of services was acceptable. He knew how to make ropes and he could make a new string on his own, but not with the same quality, and he lived from his hunting and was a protector to the city and the surrounding forests; so, he needed to have his weapons well tended to.
Should he receive the new bow string or not he would thank the person in question and then inquire as to the reason of all the decorations. He new it should have something to do with the end of winter and the coming of the spring, but this was his first proper spring in Silrosia and he was always so busy in the town he didn’t have the time to now what this was all about.

OOC: since you're the only one - I'll keep it all in this thread.
OOC2: this thread is now closed to new players, as it is GRANDFATHERED
OOC3: Since the shop where you start is peer modded by a PC please contact Rhiannon for details of the transaction.
IC:
Isil's communication with the Dwarf at the Valiant Heart was over, and he asked the Dwarf, Grum, what the decorations were for. Grum chuckled at Isil and waved an arm. "It's the festival! Are you deaf and blind, laddie?" he asked, and then he went on to explain the rules to him.
"You can have your 'treasure coins' laddie, and I'll give you a task. The have to come to me with the five items you've been asked to get. First thing you've got to do is to bring me a cloak of the forest - but beware! If you simply use yer treasure coins to buy the five items, you'll fail in yer task, for each thing is worth at least five coins. So, a cloak of the forest, lad, is yer first task. Good luck!"
That said, the dwarf chuckled and shoo'd Isil out of the shop. A cloak of the forest... where would he find such a thing!?

This was Isil’s first festival ever. He had never witnessed one and didn’t really know what the dwarf was talking about. But the dwarf seemed so positive that everyone should know it that Isil didn’t even ask. He had important things to do with his time. But he thought it would be impolite not to enter the game proposed by the dwarf. It seemed to be a costume of the people that had welcomed him so well into their lives and he didn’t want to be rude. Also, a bit of fun with the town’s folk would be good for a change.
Isil’s first assignment was to find a... cloak of the forest? What on Telath was a cloak of the forest? Probably a cloak to be found in the forest or a cloak that would you seem part of the forest. Isil had no idea. He decided to head for the ranger’s hall and warn people that he would be doing no healing that brightening as he had decided to join festival games. He would also ask around to see if anyone would tell him what a cloak of the forest was. Perhaps it was a local expression for something and he didn’t know it because he was a foreigner to those parts.
If he didn’t find out anything he would probably just go into the forest and see what he could find out.
ooc: Rhiannon seems to be away, but I will try to talk with her upon her return. Anyway, the string was just a pretext

The Ranger's Hall was there, and the news that Isil would not be doing any healing there this brightening was met with good natured teasing about joining the festival, good luck wishes and chuckles.
When he asked around, about a cloak of the forest, it was a fellow Ranger, by the name of Larksong, who answered him. She laughed and shook her head "A Cloak of the Forest? I have no idea, and I've never heard of such thing. But if *I* was looking for a cloak, Isil, I'd go to a shop and buy one. Not head out in to the forest or over complicate things."
She smiled and gave him a friendly slap on the rump before wishing him good luck and going off to practice with her bow. Other people that he asked said either that they had not heard of it, or something very similar to Larksong.
As he was leaving the Ranger's Hall, the Lady Ranger herself stepped out and smiled and waved at him in a friendly manner "Isil! How are you this brightening?" she asked, falling into step beside him and glancing at him thoughtfully as she did.

His fellow ranger’s reaction was met with pleasure. It was the kind of behaviour people had only among friends and made him feel like part of the family. And the ranger’s, particularly those who worked as rescue rangers during the longest winter, were like family to him; another pack he belonged to.
So... no one seemed to have any idea of what a Cloak of the Forest was. Isil was getting more and more puzzled. Of course that it was part of what made the game interesting. But how to acquire something when one doesn’t even know what it looks like. Isil thought perhaps Larksong was right. The easiest way was to buy one in an establishment where someone should know what it was. The problem was that his coins were limited and he could only buy one of the items... and this was only the first one.
“Still, perhaps I should go to a clothing shop” – Isil thought – “and... Well, if not for buying, at least for asking what it is.” – So, Isil stepped out of the Rangers’ Hall and was going to the nearest clothing shop when the lady Ranger showed up. –“Well... a bit puzzled, actually.” – The elf answered with a smile. –“I decided to join in the festivities to try and enter a bit more in contact with the Syl’rosyan culture and spirit... But I was asked to obtain a Cloak of the Forest; And I don’t even know what that is. So, I am on my way to a clothing shop to try to find out. Anyway... how do you do this fine brightening?”

She looked at him, her exotic make up as present as ever and she grinned "Well, Isil, I am sure that you will experience many of Syl'rosya's pleasures throughout this excursion of yours. I would suggest that a clothing shoppe is a good place to start your search for a cloak."
She walked along in silence for a few moments, amiable and companionable with him and then she turned and smiled "Tell me, Isil, how would you feel about some company on this quest of yours? I'd quite like a diversion from the routine, and this sounds like a most fun one. I understand entirely if you do not wish company, on this endeavour, so please feel free to say no if you do not wish it, but I am feeling somewhat whimsical and it sounds to me like this is a somewhat whimsical endeavour"
She smiled and looked at him with a question in her eyes. If he did not wish company, she would not be offended, she merely wanted to know if it was something that he did want.
