Retrospective XP

So I'm wondering if, as Moss roleplays his memories, if such a thing as retrospective XP exists? I can understand that something like combat might not generate XP because the risk of death has been removed, but for things where such a risk is never present regardless of the timing, (like sparring or totally non-martial activities), could XP be generated if it is roleplayed properly?

And in cases where it can't be used to earn XP, (assuming combat fits this category), can roleplayed memories in that category essentially be done without a moderator, ignoring bunny rules and the like?

We no longer approve flashback threads that generate experience. We prefer that people play out their characters in the present. The reason? Quite simply, anything should be able to happen in any moderated thread. Threads that happen in the past may thus impact your existing character's present.

You may do memory threads but you will not gain experience from them because they will be "Exposition" type threads, nothing more.

Thanks! Does that mean I have a bit of freedom within roleplayed memories to bunny when it comes to NPC reactions, etc?

To an extent, yes. Expositions used in that manner should be used to flesh out a character, not actively add/deduct anything from their character beyond story. It's mostly an apply common sense thing in what an NPC can be assumed to have done - like you're not going to have an NPC go omg, you were made Lord Thane of Jaedaxia in Era XX by the Governor, and then the fall from grace, etc being part of the characters history.

You can 'bunny' to the extent that you might be able to in a thread made in the 'present'. If it might make a GM/D frowny face at you or if you think you've perhaps gone too far where there might be some net gain from the encounter, then you've probably gone too far.

I know I've worded that weirdly, but the short of it is, this ruling exists because we had people try to gain experience in skills while also being adamant that they couldn't suffer wounds/injury because it was in the past. Or situations where people would have enough experience to do lvl3 in a skill, but had done nothing in the 'present' where there was risk.
