Brightening 8 of the Fourth Cycle of The Month of Ponutis in the Season of Spring
Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum in the Age of the Darkening
Jonas Brightwing at the Silver Woundwort. Amber had been quite surprised at the answer on her question where she could find some silverwork. It had been some time now since she had met anyone else with that name and she was wondering if he was related somehow. Not that she indented on finding out. She was going to keep a low profile and had no intention to converse more with the Fae population then would be needed.
She was flying according the directions she had been given without her body guards. Such big escorts only attracted more attention, something you generally avoided when keeping a low profile. The main reason why they had come along in the first place was that riding a horse was quite a bit faster then flying, but not something a Fae-sized being was able to do. The added security was nice of course, but not a necessity. She generally relied on hiding and was quite capable of fending off trouble on her own. There were several dead orcs and Imperial soldiers that were the proof of her capabilities.
As she pushed open the door, she couldn’t help but feel claustrophobic for a moment, uncomfortable at the sudden lack of space. The place was no doubt big enough by Fae standards, but it had been a long time since she had seen much Fae sized stuff or been in one of their buildings. After a the initial short disorientation she quickly pulled herself together again and walked over to the counter.
“Serale, I’m looking for some simple rings. Ten of them to be more exact and preferably of excellent quality. They’ll need to serve for imbuements.”
“ I can assure you, all our rings are of excellent quality so that shouldn’t be a problem.” Two hazel eyes focussed on her, almost challenging her to prove the contrary, but the smile on his face showed that there was no harm in the statement.
“Which ones of these fit you the best?” A few rings were laid before her to try on.
“What Sphere are you practicing?”
Harmless conversation, but not a question she could truthfully answer without getting into problems. She would have sighed at the question if it wasn’t that it had been an expected one. She could have tried to avoid the subject, but then what did one need ten rings for? It would almost certainly have come up at some point so she had decided just go ahead and get it out of the way. Lying was something she tried to avoid, but right now it was just the easy way out.
“None so far. They are to be a gift for a friend. I think these will probably fit him just fine.” She held up one of the rings she was given and handed it over to the smith.
“Ok. I don’t have that much in stock though, so you’ll have to come back in a few days. We’re the eight now, so I should have them done by… Well, if you drop by in the afternoon the tenth they’ll be ready for you to come and pick them up.” He took a piece of paper and started scribbling.
“I’ll come to five crowns for the lot. What name can I put the order under miss…?”
“I’m Amber.” She put five crowns on the counter, not concerned on whether she only needed to pay a part in advance or not. The sum was such a small one compared to the number she was used to working with these days.
“I’ll be back to pick them up in two days then.”
With that she left the shop again, returning to pick up her package a couple of days later.
