A Warm Autumn Brightening (Ravaska | Rioshi ..any katta for that matter)

The 5th Brightening of the 4st Cycle of Junctior, Season of Autumn, Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV p.f.

"Rav, I am in need of the outdoors away from the city. It'll give Praaal a chance to hunt, as can you and I for that matter. Will you join me? The weather seems to be perfect for a wilderness stroll." Parreyon asked the quick footed Cheetari.

She and him had differing views on life due to their different upbringings, Parr being less katta and more Imperial and Ravaska being just the opposite, but one thing was certain and it was that he needed to provide her with a little quality time. No matter her view, he had still wronged her in not telling her about Nim. It had been even more of a change for the tribal raised katta than had been anticipated, and he wanted to ease that transition in any way possible.

Parreyon had strange feelings for the Cheetari identifying with her wilder instincts because he could feel them from Praaal whenever he bonded with the great panther through the dream realm. He had spent many an afternoon during travels closing his eyes and joining with Praaal as he went on the hunt for food. He could feel the adrenaline surge through the great panther's body and even taste the warm blood as it ran down his throat. Praaal knew he could join with Rav in a similar way but felt that such actions were intruding even if she would be unaware that he did it. Praaal and he had bonded in the ancient tradition of great panther and pantheri, so it was different for them.

SunBlade strapped to his waste, Shield of Kaimelea strapped to Praaal's side, and longbow pulled across his back, Parreyon led Ravaska out of the city and into the Primus Wilderness towards Pegasus Woods. The newly appointed Imperial Judicator road on the back of Praaal while Ravaska ran. It amazed him to watch the wilderkatta run everywhere never once accepting his offer to ride the black percheron war horse in his stable. It was one of those amazing things about her that gave Parreyon his strange feelings. Not love, not lust, but a strong desire to know this female katta and see where that led.

The ride took a few candlemarks but soon they were in the Pegasi Woods. Parreyon placed the Shield of Kaimelea upon his back and held the bow in his hands. He unsaddled Praaal leaving it on the ground for them to return to later. It was a saddle designed to fit a great panther and thus was wrongly shaped to place on a horse. He did not fear it being stolen and could get others.

Enjoy your hunt, my friend. Honor your kill. Parreyon said to Praaal as he slid in the dreamstate with the ease of an expereinced arcanist entering clara. He only wished he could enter clara as a mystic with the same ease.

"I leave our first kill to you, Rav. I shall follow you and watch your back." He said to the beautiful Cheetari and followed wherever she led.

OOC:Assumption on the running part since he had discussed this earlier.

Ravaska is an upstanding Citizen
The wilderkatta loved the bond between the pair in her company. Both big black males impressed her and that they allowed her to join in their hunt thrilled her endlessly. Rav was finding Parr to be far different in his leadership of his growing pride than her father was of his own Cheetari group. She couldn't honestly decide which she liked better. Parr was generous, patient, and very very consistent. He thought things through before he acted, and always came off as far older than his physical age. He never gave her the nastier chores, never yelled at her, never struck her, and she'd yet to even remotely make him either clench his teeth or bare them at her.

Not that she hadn't tried.

Parr, and even Nim for that matter, was endlessly fascinating to the young Cheetari. She spent a great deal of time in their company, and in many ways reminded Parr sometimes of his Wilderkatta nature because things that were natural to her.... mutual grooming, piling up together to share warmth, absolute lack of privacy or any inclination of what personal space is..... all fell into her range of habits. Ravaska, if asked, would definitely say Parr had his share of strangeness too. He was tame, citybread, and he even went strange places inside his head. She could tell because sometimes he was there, and sometimes he just... vanished inside himself. It was the oddest sensation, watching him do it. And although she was curious about it, the time was never right really to ask him. If it came up, she'd bounce on the chance to hear his thoughts... but to know he could slip into hers at any time was something she simply couldn't fathom or would believe. It was just too outrageous of a notion for her simplistic ways.

Parreyon neither expected things a dominant male katta normally would of her, nor did he demand rights. He didn't make her eat last... in fact the whole pride seemed to eat together... and he didn't try to explain Nim... which was something to f a relief. The cheetari was baffled a little, and still made mistakes socially around him, but overall, was starting to fit in. Their group was small, still four in number, but she was content. She'd even started sleeping inside out of the weather, either near Parreyon or near Nim, whichever seemed closer when she tired.

The bath situation was still progressing slowly, but already she was using silverware like a professional.

And today... the journey out was much needed. The Cheetari had high levels of energy anyhow, and today she was especially strung out having been in the city for almost a full cycle without getting to stretch her legs much... at least not like this. The trio chatted as she ran, Praaal and Parr silently, Ravaska and Parr more vocally. The Cheetari had developed a sort of language with Praaal too that consisted of huffs and sniffs and alot of tumbling.... it was probably one of the first things that had surprised the Knight was when he returned one day and found the Cheetari and his bondmate wrestling it out in the back yard. Praaal always won, but Cheetari was always game to try and 'overthrow' his winning streak... still being very much a kitten and having so much useless energy.

But back to their running. Running never did seem to bother Ravaska's capacity for conversation, though she did enjoy her quiet times as well. And this day was no exception. "I think Praaal is getting fat...." Ravaska said, teasing both the Great Panther and his rider slightly as she bounced sideways, leaped a bit of brush and put enough distance away from the Great Panther to avoid a simple sideswipe which she knew he was perfectly capable of delivering to her without breaking stride for Parr. "You should bring us out to run more. Its a beautiful day...." Even though it was slightly overcast, Parr and Praaal could both scent the good humor and excitement rolling off her in waves. Ravaska rarely got upset. Though she was high strung and normally a nervous ball of energy, the Cheetari had one of the most level-headed optimistic outlooks of just about anyone. The problem Parr probably had trouble figuring out was whether the Cheetari actually believed what she said, she said what she said to be nice..... or whether what she said was always true in her world. Her scent, which changed as the day progressed... gave him clues. She radiated pleasure in her scent when she was happy... fear when she was afraid... loneliness when she was homesick... her emotions ran the gauntlet, but she never complained. When any negative thought came through her mind, she normally grew quiet and reserve, rather than complain.

She was pleased beyond belief when he let her pick tehir hunt. The Cheetari picked deer and announced her decision in a rather sultry voice... "Deer... I'm hungry for venison." And with that, she started ranging in a very noticeable pattern about Par and Praaal until she came across prints and fresh scent. "Deer... definitely... and here's our trail."

She added... pleased to be given the decision.

Kavene Darklight is an upstanding Citizen
Kavene had been meandering about the countryside for a day or so now, as he had finally gotten the first of his contracts in Portshire and was giving himself a bit of a vacation. He brought two of his golems with him to keep him company (NotIR and LG), which really wasn't very much because none of his golems spoke... unless ye count NotIr, who wrote. And even if they did speak, they wouldn't be able to hold much of a conversation due to lack of Personality, and the fact they didn't think for themselves!

Throughout the past day or so he hadn't seen anything particularly interesting. No bandits or thieves to hunt down, no Dorin's to taunt. It had turned out to be a rather bland vacation, and he knew that he would soon need to be heading back to get started again on the contracts for golems he had received.

He was about to turn back when around the bend of a small hill he saw something that filled him with envy, a feeling he hadn't felt for a long time. Directly in front of him was a Great Panther!

His mouth hung agap as he saw it looking at something out of his field of view thanks to the hill. THe great beast suddenly shot off, and as kavene started to climb the hill to look after it he saw a couple of katta dashing into the woods.

He blinked and rubbed his eyes to make sure it wasn't an illusion. LG slowly lumbered up the hill behind him, with NotIr sitting on his shoulder.

"Serale there!" He called out, hoping someone would respond, and not make him look like a complete lunitic in the middle of the countryside.

Parreyon watched Ravaska go about the area seeking a trail. He knew scents and knew his nose could tell him much more than his eyes but had never learned to rely on it. Ravaska knew how to use all of her senses and this made him watch with admiration as she went to work. Parreyon had learned the basics of tracking and finding tracks during a cycle long trip with a trapper and outdoorsman. He'd also learned to use a longbow during that time. He held the longbow in his hands just in case but knew this hunt was Ravaska's. He would only use it in defense.

The two had barely hit the path of the tracks Ravaska had found before they heard a shout from behind them near a hill. Parreyon instinctively pulled an arrow, knocked it, and stretched the arrow half way back as he scanned the horizons with his eyes while smelling the air. He would only learn to trust the scents his nose picked up by using them.

Within moments his eyes found the location of the voice. A fellow panthari! It was not often one was met in the woods and even more so that it was a fellow katta as well. It did not make Parreyon trust the situation though. He had learned quickly in Imperia that criminals were criminals and wore no particular skin. This one did not hold a weapon and did not have the look of predator. It did not mean that he was not a decoy for more mauraders to surprise them.

"Serááá Kattá." Parreyon said in kattaspeak. "You have enough time to state your business before I lose both my trust and this arrow. Give me a reason to trust you." he did not look at Ravaska but could smell she was still very close to him. his nose actually worked for something!

Kavene Darklight is an upstanding Citizen
Kavene frowned as it was no surprise that these people already went into attack mode, considering he had a halberd and claymore across his back.

That frown quickly turned into a grin however, it was obvious that this pantheri was not a brigand, being that if it was a brigand he would have already loosed the arrow. The fact that this fellow katta would immediately question the type of person one was and aim first then talk was exactly the type of person he needed in his crusades.

His grin widened, then he shrugged, "I'm on vacation... or i was until ye started aiming yer arrows at mi! I happened to see one of the fabled Great Panther's down here and it surprised mi, as it isn't their natural habitat, i was checking to see if it had an owner before decideding to go and try to tame it or one of its cubs... or was mi hope."

He frowned a bit, as that was actually what he was intending, and now it was obvious it was already claimed, this pantheri's precense explained that.

Kavene sat down, and the LG, the 1'10" golem stopped after walking right beside him. "Ye have no reason to trust mi, as i am a stranger to ye... but ye have no reason to shoot mi either, again because i am a stranger to ye... I really don't know what to tell ye, ye put mi in a bit of a hard position here mate!"

He yawned and watched the pantheri down range from him rather bemused. As far as he could tell this man was an innocent, meaning that kavene would not hurt or hunt him. He waited for a response.

Ravaska is an upstanding Citizen
Ravaska paused on the crest of the hill where she'd been tracking something delicious... rabbits by the scent of them. She wanted some, and was slightly annoyed by the interruption, but when she looked up she relaxed. Parreyong was posturing, all dominant and ready to use his weapon. The other Katta, another Pantheri looked relaxed and casual, though his accent was really hard for Ravaska to follow. Common? He had odd inflexions, and it confused her slightly... until she studied his body language and realized in an instant he was harmless.

She gave Parreyon an indulgent lazy amused look. The man must have seen a great deal to be so tense in strange situations. She supposed she was the same way in the city with all the city customs and silkskins, but out here it was different. This was another Katta and she didn't mind meeting him.

In three strides she was joining Kavene and looking curiously at the ... thing... he had with him. "What is it? Can we eat it?" She asked, curious. It wasn't alive. It didn't smell alive either. It had no expressions, and the air about it tasted rather... poisonous. Frowning, she took a step back. "It smells like poison and clay. What is it?" The Cheetari said, then glanced back to see if Parreyon might have been aiming at the clay thing instead. It seemed the smart thing to do, and explained his tenseness if he knew something about it she didn't.

"I'm Ravaska. That's Parreyon. He's a ... "
The name eluded her, so she explained. "Wilderkatta of justice and the law. Who might you be?" She asked boldly, and circled around the creature that made her uneasy.

Kavene laughed outright at her questions of his golems. "Nay, i would not eat it, it would taste like dirt, and if ye had accidently bit into the feversteel heart ye would surely die... Ye are right smart though, it is indeed made of clay, it is a golem, and it is called LG or Little Giant. I created him, he is no threat to you."

LG waved at the newcomer as she approached. He listened intently to their names, noting how odd it was that he might have met anouther hunter of criminals. "I am known as Kavene Darklight! Revolutionary for the common people, the thieves and murderers of Portshire call mi Phantom. I hunt them down and get rid of them before they can cause more harm."

THe pantheri did a low bow, as the golems with him followed suit rather clumsily. "What are ye all doing out here in the country side? I wouldn't think that Law and order would be needed out here with no sentient beings to mess things up with?" By this time he would have started speak Katta, the tounge his parents had taught him in his youth.

Parreyon listened patiently as the two exchanged words. Just because the individual was katta, and more specifically pantheri, did not mean Parreyon trusted him ... especially with this clay construction golem thing at his side. Parreyon held no trust to things he did not yet know how to handle. The fact that the pantheri admitted it held a poison in it, made the situation worse. Highwaymen had many gadgets and contraptions they used to rob anyone that came into their trap like a fly to the spider's web.

"The law is not based on city life only. It applies to all the land. so no matter where I walk, the law walks with me for we are one and the same."

Parreyon said making his lifestyle known if this katta did happen to be a thief. The fact that there was even a possibility that Kevene could be one saddened the Imperial Judicator greatly. Pantheri were the noble warriors of the katta people. The elite knights of Kyathis and Kattara who always held the duty of furthering the katta people. It was built into the ancient creed of the ClawKnights. What had the katta become as a race?

"As my companion has told you, My name is Parreyon Syndicus, Imperial Judicator of the Empire, Minister of Law of the High Courts. As for our purpose out here, I was bringing Ravaska and Praaal Ri out here for a hunt. Even lawmen need to get away from the city from time to time."

Parreyon said with a smile relaxing a little bit though still remaining cautious. Just then Praaal Ri came out from a tree to the left of the group. his mouth still dripping with the blood of his fresh kill. He knew Parreyon had met some company and left part of his meal unfinished to ensure his bondmate was safe. He walked towards them slowly with his eyes on the clay golem also a little fearful of something that he'd never seen before. He came to the side of Parreyon looking clearly at the animation. Praaal did not like the thing, and the hairs along his back raised along his back.

"This is Praaal Ri."

OOC Sorry guys for missing this thread ... my bad!!

ooc: Np, i wasn't active for about a month, ur wait wasn't that long XD

ic:

Kavene sensed that there were still distrust lingering in the other pantheri's mind. It made sense though, as they had indeed met randomly by chance. He immediatly put his thoughts of it aside when the great panther arived.

Kavene's jaw hung agape as it moved closer. Kavene went on one knee as one would when calling a house cat and instinctually blew to puffs of air towards the face of the great panther, in greating. He had forgoteen where he had learned it, it came second nature to him, as if these motions were in his blood.

He had forgoteen that he came from a line of knights, and thought his dead fathers stories only stories until this moment.

Kavene shook his head and stood up again, as if coming out of a dase and looked slightly embarissed. "Sry don't know what came over mi!" he said shrugging it off.

"What are ye all hunting in these woods? I haven't had a good run since i hunted down some of those black and grey wolves back in Portshire." He grinned as he said this, as he fondly recalled his vigilante viglianty hunting of theifs and murders.

Parreyon could not help but smile as he watche Kavene go straight towards his natural katta instincts in the presence of his blood. Pantheri were descendants of Great Panthers and that bond was something thgat magic, time, or a differing society could take away from them. All Pantheri felt the beating of the call inside them which yearned them to seek out the majestic beast and bond. Most pantheri of the Empire had learned to look away from this, though it had been to strong in Parreyon's heart to ignire. The act of finding and bonding with Praaal had nearly killed him which was evident by the huge scar on his face.

"We were going to hunt the great stags of the Pegasus Forest. We'd be honored to have you join us."

He added looking to Ravaska to see if it was okay with her. Parr knew she would be since every katta the two had come across, she had gone out of her way to talk to. She was extremely friendly to those of their race which made Parr feel good around her.

"Tell me though about this clay golem animation you have. What does it do? Wil it be quiet if we are to prowl and hunt? It is hard to trust anything I know nothing about even if it is at the side of a trusted katta."

Kavene listened intently to what his Pantheri brother had to say. "Aye! I would love to come with ye all!" he exclaimed grinning widely. He waved his hand in dismisal to the other pantheri's second question, "As long as i don't command it to, or as long as nothing is stolen in front of it, it shall be as quite as a clay figure is atop a shelf. It may make noises as it moves through the forest though, for golems are generally clumsy things."

As soon as the words left his mouth though, his eyes sparkeled as an idea came to him, "Though that may be used to our advantage, i could very well command LG" he indicated the larger of the golems, "To move around our prey, to startle it and have it come straight towards us, ye see, it has no scent, i do believe, it should smell of baked clay, which is dirt, as that is what i made this beasty of"

He waited to see if Parreyon aproved, while looking over the great panther. Oh how he wished to have one or two, he had a plan to build a reserve for cats of all times as soon as he got rich off of his golem business.

If the concept was for food, then Parreyon could understand the distraction created by this golem. If the idea was the thrill of the hunt, thenhe could also understand not wanting to use this thing. The decision was Ravaska's because it was her hunt. Parr was along to help her, and Praaal simply wanted the taste of fresh blood which he had taken earlier.

"I relinquish that decision to Ravaska for it is her hunt. I am merely along for the chance to get away from the city and enjoy the sights."

These golems were strange creatures which he did not understand. They had no true ability to think from the way Kavene just described them. They simply obeyed like a dog. He was curious what use a thing like this was for, but that was for after the hunt. He knew that Ravaska would not want the distractions of conversation to ruin her game.
