Elegia's mailbox [IC letters here, please]

There were some houses at the docks of Portshire. One of them was the home of Elegia Godiva, the courtesan.

Near the fence that lined her house and little yard there was an old mailbox that was waiting for letters. Sometimes there was one from someone she had known for a long time, maybe a relative or a friend. Sometimes it was from a client or someone wanting to know more about her services.

The mailbox was battered but it still could hold a lot of letters. She loved it and waited to open it each afternoon after the postman had walked by.

Would there be anything there today?

[OOC: If you have any letters for Elegia, post them here please. Also you might want to check this topic in the Herald.]

Timestamp: the First Month of Winter, Era XIV Post Fractum.

A messenger donning a fur-lined deep blue jacket, white poet shirt, and riding trousers arrived atop a chestnut colored thoroughbred. He was a young man, possibly in his late teens but held the air of an aristocrat. Both mount and rider eased their gallop as they approached the address provided for them. And with the ease of a professional messenger, the dark-haired man hopped off his mount and prepared his advance toward the good home before him. From his jacket, he produced a scroll tube from which he placed evenly in the mailbox outside.

It was sealed with an odd symbol pressed into blue wax depicting two spears and a shield. It read:

Portshire, Principality of Prime

Greetings from the House of Nourbeau,

This letter is a response to your notice posted in the Herald earlier this month. I wish to hire your services for my son who is turning seventeen summers this Second Month of Winter.

We await your response. Please include any additional information we may need pertaining your visit.

Elegia heard a horse stop at the front of her house and put the book she was reading down. She got up and went to the yard but the rider had already left. She saw hoofmarks in the front of her mailbox and went to see. And indeed, there was a letter.

She broke the strange seal after looking at it thoughtfully and read the letter out there on the street. She frowned slightly while walking back inside her house. This wasn't new to her, this kind of a job. It wasn't something she wouldn't like to do, but it wasn't her favorite either.

She went to her desk and began to write:

Jaedaxia, Sodality of Carmelyn

I thank you for your interest in my notice and my line of work.
I would be happy to come to your residence and meet your son. Would 35th Brightening of this first month be suitable or would you like to wait until the second month? Either would be good for me.

I hope you can make sure I have a proper room with a bath and a clean bed through my visit with you, so the meeting with your son would be as smooth as possible.

Also if you could help me with the arrangements with my travelling, as I don't own a horse of my own and would probably need an escort anyway, I would appreciate it.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Elegia Godiva
Elegia closed the letter in to an envelope and sealed it. She didn't have her own seal these days, so she just made sure there was some kind of a seal on the letter. He went around the corner and rushed to the first decent tavern there was near the docks. And she was right, the messenger - he did stand out even in outside the tavern, he didn't look much like the average person in the docks - was getting back on his horse.

"Excuse, might you be the young man who delivered the letter to me at the docks, I'm Elegia Godiva." she smiled at him.
After a brief conversation she handed her letter to the messenger who nodded politely and rode off the city.

The messenger glanced around to find Elagia and nodded stiffly. "Oui, I am" he said dispassionately. Recieving the letter, he placed it into the folds of his coat before hurriedly climbing atop his mount. "Au revoir", he said plainly before urging the thoroughbreed onward at great speed. He was off before the Elegia could even wave a fair enough serale on her behalf.

One cycle later, the coujesan would find another letter in her personal box. This time, however, the rider was well gone before she could finish her reply and find him. It was written in the same print as before, except this one seemed to hold more information -- as was custom in most noble circles. It also seemed to have been hastily drafted since the ink was a bit muddy in some areas. Not enough time to dry perhaps?

To Lady Elegia Godavia
Portshire, Principality of Prime

Greetings from the House of Nourbeau,

We hope that this letter finds you and yours in good health.

Your letter was recieved and we grant your requests. Please be ready to depart Portshire on the eve of the 36th of Kalendryas. If this date will not suffice, please return this letter as soon as possible. If this date is appropriate, no reply is needed.

In regards to payment, we hope to negotiate that aspect with you in person.

Sincerely,
Duke Ellington Nourbeau
Secrets :
OOC: you may assume that Elegia was transported to Jaedaxia via the Duke's personal carriage. It is white and pulled by a team of four white horses. Its driver is a grey old man who seems to hate women of any kind Feel free to post in Jaedaxia's City Gates when you are ready!
