During the process of
Character Creation, it is possible for experienced veteran players to customize their initial knowledge, skills, abilities, and possessions, by exchanging among them and obtaining game master approval. This supports an experienced player's goal of developing a character that more closely fits the character concept they have designed, and is known as a Starting Package.
Basic Package
All new Characters in Aelyria begin in
Aelyria Prime and start out with the following possessions:
All characters can begin immediately using the basic package, and there is no need to await approval since nothing has been modified. It is also the most fair and balanced package, ensuring that your character has all options open to them for advancement and progression in skills and abilities, with a modest starting stipend and a single family heirloom that helps identify your character's background. If you decide to forego your deed to your starting home, you can add an additional 1000 Gold Crowns to your inventory.
Game Master Package
If you are a veteran player, you can create a character that starts in any city in Aelyria - just ask the local game master's permission before you begin there. Either the game master of Aelyria Prime or other local game masters can approve some minor changes to your initial possessions and abilities. You can ask a game master to grant you a First Level Proficiency in a basic, non-magic skill at the cost of no less than 800 gold. Along with Arcana, no group skill package can be added such as Sword Dancing or Basic Wilderness Survival (which has a unique training and skill progression being multiple skills combined into one) because the tradeoff would cost more than a starting character is allowed. They may also add some knowledge or social connections, but these enhancements will have additional costs from your possessions. In some cities, it may be possible to begin as minor or petty nobility, or with an apprenticeship with the local craftsman.
Director Package
Anything that is more substantial than the game master package, including requesting a First Level Proficiency in a magic or advanced combat skill, or requesting permission to play a special race or creature, must be submitted as a written request to the
Help Desk where it will be considered by the Directorate, the group of supermoderators that manages Aelyria's
contributor teams.
Secrets of Foresight
After a starting package has been approved, your moderator will create a thread for your character in the
Secrets of Foresight forum and then provide you with the URL to this thread. Though you cannot access it, this address will help other moderators keep track of any special occurrences throughout the life of your character. It's a good idea to enter it in your options under your
User CP.
