Keldon sat at his desk in candlelight in the darkening. He looked over his papers and leaned back in his chair pondering what to do. It was a long night and he had been writing the missive to the Ministry of War for sometime now, it was a subject he was not entirely how to approach however it was one he felt the leader of the Imperial Armed Forces should be advised of.
Setting down his pen he looked around the room and whistled for the guard outside the tent. "Send for Provost Stefan forthwith." he said firmly. The guard nodded and left the tent to get the man requested.

The messenger arrived not long after Vincent had finished his morning meal. He was siting in the chair at his desk when, a ramming sound began on his door. Stifling at small chuckle at the man's expense, the half elf waited for the legionnaire to get through the wooden barrier.
It took about three tries but the man eventually did open the door, only to have the half elf walk out it and into the open. Standing outside his tent Vincent waited for the legionnaire to begin. "His Provost Elsdragon requests your presence sir." remarked the man dryly as he rubbed the pain out of his right shoulder.
Vincent only nodded, pulled his door closed, locked it and then made his way to Keldon's office. Once there he stepped pass the guards and entered the office. "Ye called Provost." began Vincent as he remained standing in the center of the room.
Keldon's eyes fell to the letter sitting on his desk as Vincent entered the office turning the parchment face down so the words where not viewable. But when Vincent entered the office he also rose up with a brief nod and a smile. "That I did Provost, please have a seat." he said motioning for the chair infront of his desk and making his way towards the cabinet. "Brandy?" he would ask with a friendly tone and if so would pour himself a small glass and Vincent and make his way back to his desk placing the free glass infront of Vincent.
Looking to the Provost he smiled. "So how go your orders from the puppeteer?" he asked with a gentle yet sarcastic smirk as he took a seat. "Any news as of yet?"
The half elf excepted the cup, he needed it to hide his distaste at the Provost's words. Sucking the drink down in one gulp and shaking his head just slightly to show the effects. The Half elf began to speak a few seconds later.
"I have had no word as of yet." remarked Vincent, as he began to rub his head. "I don't know if things will stay that way but for now I am glad."
Walking over to the nearest seat the half elf sat down in it. "So, what's this about....I feel I am about to hear something I don't want to know." The Half elf's face spread into a large smile, though behind it his unease was almost plain to anyone.
Keldon smiled and shook his head. "No, and I think this is something you would rather know." he said with a brief pause leaning forward placing his hands together on his desk. "I have thought about it and have decided the sword to your neck is to be lifted. To do this you are going to need to face the actions of your past. The fact of the matter is you deserted the Imperial Army in the past, however the fact is you also were extorted to remain in service and those charges covered up to be used and wielded like a dirty political tactic seen in the Imperial Forum... this is not something I want to see in the military and something I know the Ministry of War does not either." he said with another pause looking Vincent directly into the eyes. "Which is why I am going to override Imperatis Kaldres's orders and send you to the capital, directly to the Ministry of War with this." he finished lifting up his hands that were placed over the parchment and pushed it forward for Vincent to turn over and read.

Serale sir, I send greetings from the Western Empire. Since we last spoke somethings have indeed changed, the local militia is being trained by imperial forces to further the cities defense, and the moral of the people and our own troops. It is also proving to be a effective means to raise the opinion of the imperial forces that are, and could be stationed here in the future.
But with great concern I write the true reason for this missive.
The intent for this letter is to address the legal concerns that's currently held over an officer of the Imperial Army that was going to be transferred under my command however recivied conflicting orders from a commander of the Southern Host.
This would not primarily be a concern for myself however it has been expressed to me that this commander is blackmailing the Imperial Officer to do his bidding or face charges of treason. As it seems in the past Vincent Stefan whom served under the command of now one Provost Imperatis Sheng Kaldres.
Provost Stefan has been assigned by Imperatis Kaldres to the 18th Imperial Legion. Which according to the chain of command is outside the Southern Host however it is currently a transfer being honored here per request. Provost Stefan has expressed concern that he is being used as a pawn in a larger plan that could indeed be outside the normal mandate of the Imperial Army. Which raises my concern given whom it is coming from.
He has informed me that in the past the Provost deserted from the Imperial Army and established a Mercenary Faction alongside his fellow men in arms who indeed did desert the Imperial Army, however they were arrested by Mr. Kaldres, and subsequently blackmailed into his service with the charge of treason over there head. Which is why Imperatis Kaldres believes he can trust the Provost so deeply as he fears for his own life.
With that being said I want to note the fact that Provost Stefan has served in the Imperial Army in both the siege of narim and previously. It was Imperatis Kaldres who gave im a commission and recently sent the newly promoted Provost to Paxia to keep watch over me, as I have been informed the Imperatis believes he can not use me as his puppet and thus believe he needs someone he can control near me, for whatever purpose that may require.
As this is not a matter of the law in a civilian level and the charges that are being held over him are those of a military nature and thus given that he has been serving and will continue to serve the Imperial Armed Forces and the crown that you extend to him a pardon for the actions held in the past.
In my opinion he is a valuable officer of the imperial armed forces and someone should never be used as a puppet with the fear of there life because someone can not get there own hands dirty.

Keldon's words did not make the half elf bat an eyelash or even say a word in thanks...To many had made the same clam. Offered an out where there was an in. Made offers of possibility's though had he taken the other rode he would be dead now.
Yet, when the Provost slid a parchment over to him. The Half elf began to read. no more then a few seconds into it the shock that lit up Vincent's eye was Considerable. It was true. The letter was to go the ministry The knife was going to be lifted. For the fist time in a long time, Vincent felt free, free of a burden that had been placed on him by an army of Imperial guard, in a place he had built from the ground up.
" I...I can not begin." Words failed the half elf for he could not come out and say the one thing he wanted to. It went against all he had suffered to just come out and thank a man setting him free of a burden that should never have been there in the fist place.
As he considered it, there was only one thing he could do. Reaching into his side pouch he withdrew a letter. It bore a seal that Vincent had never found out where it belong but the name was clear enough. It was time he placed all the cards on the table. Walking foreword the half elf placed the letter on Keldon's desk.

You may feel surprise at this promotion and indeed, it should. Though you have done exceptional deeds in Taralon as leading an attack on globins, but none of them warrant such a promotion. You are promoted because of one reason, you can be trusted to keep your mouth shut and if anything happens, you are easily silenced.
You will be given a simple task; you will be promoted to the rank of Provost and will be transferred to Paxia. The official reason is that you are going there to fill the vacancy left by a certain Provost Keldon Elsdragon. The unofficial reason is you are transfer there to keep an eye on the same Provost Keldon Elsdragon. There are rumors of misconduct on the part of Provost Elsdragon. However, there are no concrete proof of that on our part and we can only keep an eye on him and you part of that plan.
Maintain tight surveillance on Provost Elsdragon. Inform me if there are any news or concrete evidence of his misconduct. Only use men that you trust.

It was time this all ended. It was time for the counter strike to begin.
Keldon was about to tell Vincent to not even start to offer thanks, after all this was a situation he should not of even been in the first place and he was only going to be putting things to the way they should be. However he quirked a brow when Vincent handed him the letter.
He was not expecting the Provost to throw him a curve ball that would catch him off guard. He had expected to give the man the missive and to send him off to Aelyria Prime. However this, this changed things. The commander of the Southern Legions is promoting, assigning troops to the Central Host and also using those whom should not be here in the first place to spy? Thats a hairline short of treason in Keldon's book. However it was not his place to put such a motion into play.
Making a mental note of the fact that Sheng stated charges of misconduct, although with the information at hand he simply made the assumption that they were yet another ruse or plan to cover his mounting misconduct of his own.
Rubbing his head briefly he thought about the next course of action. He could easily send his mage to the Intelligence Buro and issue orders for the arrest of the Imperatis however that would be rather brash and something that could very well be unwarranted. However this was a situation that needed to be resolved, now and hopefully internally. "Return to me on the morrow, Mid-brightening. Bring with you monk robes that the healers in the legion uses. Ten of them, and bring your men aswel. I want you to conceal the robes in a chest or bag. We clear?" he said firmly.

Vincent nodded, He briefly wondered where to get such a set of robes but, then Vencenti could be very persuasive if he needed to be. Yet, why 10, how many peaple was the half elf bringing with him. No matter It was time this all ended and Vincent was will to do anything if that was where the end would appear.
"Is that all sir, if so then I have some preparations to make." Though his face said nothing the smile behind the Half elf's eye would have said all that needed to be said.
Keldon sat in his desk as Stefan left, pondering what to do. This was not what he had planned for his time, nor was this a situation that he wanted to deal with. But this... someone directly attempting to spy on him with an unknown agenda, and all the while wearing the uniform lacking the ability to carry out such attempts. This is something the Provost could not stand for, and would not allow. Although he feared to directly challenge Sheng. His house was one of considerable authority in politics. However, this is something that could not go un-addressed.
