There was no mistaking the security arrangements or the arrival of the Imperatis as a goodly Centurios of troops arrived in Paxia a brightening before the intended meeting. Pulling rank – if need be, although given Provost Drake and the history between them and the Nexians it probably wasn't – the Nexus contengient set up camp inside the walls of the Imperial Legion Encampment in Paxia.
Thus, half that Centurios rode into Paxia with the Imperatis and his First Provost, unwilling it seemed to let up security arrangements too far. In their approach though, Larinthorpe prominent with his blonde hair waving and Du'Villier conspicuously armored for battle as a cavalryman, it was hard to tell their reaction to the summons from the Minister of War's representative in Paxia.
None the less they had come out of loyalty and duty – and both come too, leaving presumably some third-in-line Provost to take care of such matters as babysitting Nexus for a few brightenings.
Removing his helmet and shaking his hair to remove the sweat from it Du'Villier tossed it to a neighbouring Legionnaire and dismounted with Larinthorpe as the Legionnaires spread out, some dismounting and retrieving bows from their saddles whilst others trotted off in small groups to begin a patrol.
Was this distrust of the Paxian Legion? If anyone was asked then the answer would be a negative, the Imperatis and his Provost trusted the men who had fought alongside theirs at Paxia explicitly, they just knew that the Paxians were stretched enough as it was without being responsible for a neighbouring city's Legion High Command into the bargain.
What was perhaps unique though upon consideration was the momentum of this occasion. How many times in the past Eras had senior officials from neighboring Legions met beyond social gatherings and polite chat? Never? Certainly not in the memory of those present from all the rumours they had heard about lack of activity.
“Serale.”
Greeted Alexander with a blink of his violet eyes, Larinthorpe but a step behind and to his left. Admittedly neither looked particularly amused or convinced at this stage but then they were not usually the type to get summoned without so much as a hint to the topic. Still, neither commented – yet – giving Keldon a chance to explain his remoteness and lack of clarity...and why he felt it necessary to throw his weight around, before they grumbled.
Professional, after all, was the watch word of the Nexus Legion.
