Reporting In (Keldon)

47th Brightening of Melora, Spring, Era XIV (pf)

Just last brightening, Ralston had arrived in Paxia for the first time ever. In fact, this was truly only the second city he had visited in the Empire. He smiled as he reflected back on the fact that joined the military partially because of the fact that he wanted to travel around the Empire and live in different places.

The recently promoted Shield-Daekin spent the last brightening exploring the city. It became evident very quickly as to why he was here. A good portion of the city was in rubble. Buildings were lying on the ground in haphazard crumbles while others were charred black from fires which gutted the entire interior. There were still paths leading through what was left of the town, but those paths led to nowhere for the most part. He could see the occasional person working on restore buildings here and there, but until he got to the center of town, Paxia simply seemed dead.

It was not too difficult to find where he needed to report-in. The center of town was busy, but not difficult to navigate. The Provost had not been very specific as to where to find him in his letter, but he quickly realized it was not needed. He found the most likely building, and entered, looking for signs he was in the right place.

He looked around for the Surveyor-General and found his office. Knocking twice, Ralston listened for permission to enter. With the go ahead, he opened the door and approach the desk or chair or wherever he was and saluted proudly. "Shield-Daekin Ralston Sarwick reports as ordered, sir."

Keldon was standing looking over a table of plans, it was the map of the city that had very carefully drawn lines, numbers and words all over it. Plans for the walls of the city that were in progress. The walls needed to be rebuilt, buildings needed to go up and all sooner then later.

When the knock came Keldon looked to the door that was open and smirked. "Enter," he said as he looked back to the papers as Ralston walked into the room and spoke. "Wonderfully timed Deakin, tell me do you know why your here?" he asked while he kept looking over the map making small edits to things.

Ralston came into the room when commanded to and noticed all the plans surrounding the Provost. At first, the soldier was slightly confused but remembered that he was in the office of the Surveyor-General. When he was asked if he knew why he was here, the scene on his way to the center of the city made sense and clicked the pieces together in his mind.

"Sir," he started, "From what I have observed over the last couple brightenings since my arrival, it seems like the city of Paxia is in the midst of a major rebuilding phase. I would assume that the government is aiding the restoration process and they need able bodies and sharp minds to assist." It was a guess, but the Shield-Daekin thought it was rather close considering what the city looked like and who he was reporting in to.

Keldon nodded. "Close enough, there are also things that need to be taken care of in the local area that you and a small group should be able to take care of that the local commander has failed to do so. However first I need status reports and that is going to require some leg work from you. But I also need reports on quarries and other installations in the area from someone I can count on. Which assignment would you like?" Keldon asked looking down at some papers.
OOC: Going to get reports on resources will be in the mountains and will likely involve some combat and so forth also finding some new locations to get stone, and so forth, and various other things like that. Getting reports from some legions will get you traveling around the empire to specific cities I need to get things from so you can do some minor threads at those cities and get a little development going. Or you can stay in Paxia and ill assign you lots of task's some won't be overly exciting but will develop your character.

Ralston thought about his options for a few moments. He considered them all and decided upon task that he seemed most suited for. "Sir, I'll get those reports for you immediately. Just let me know what information you need and where to get it. I have my horse, Yvain, with me, so travel will not be a problem." The soldier looked forward to going around the Empire. Besides, it presented the opportunity for him to meet new people, see new places, and who knew what else. If he had to stay in a place for any small extended amount of time, he could also get more training along the way.

For now, Ralston stood and waited for his orders. He was excited to help in any way he could as this was the first real assignment he was given since his promotion to Shield Daekin.

Keldon nodded his head. "Very well, you will be heading West to my homeland to obtain the reports needed. I need reports from the 2nd Legion stationed in Arakmat City, another from the 27th Legion in Zairu Keep along the borderlands, and the 11th Legion stationed in Imperia. I will remind you that these are the legions on the boarders to our enemies so speed is needed. I need one report by the second cycle of Cryxatum, the follow two reports by the last day of Cryxatum. Understood?" Keldon asked as he took out a quill and started to write on several pieces of parchment,

Ralston considered the assignment. He had never traveled to the area and was looking forward to going and seeing new things. He hoped, however, that his journey may not be as boring or mundane as it seemed like it may be. He shook the thought away and replied, "Yes sir! Three reports, one by the second cycle of Cryxatum, the others by the end of Cryxatum." Repeating the orders made the soldier realize how simple the task was. He did not even have to survey the forces or gather the information himself, only get the reports from the individuals who had the information.

As he waiting on the letters to be written, Ralston thought about how much time he would actually have and if it would be enough to do some things for himself along the way.

Keldon handed a document to Ralston. "Here are your order's present it to the legions in question if they require proof." he said affixing the Ministry seal to it.

Any and all official's of the Imperial Armed Forces are hereby directed to assist the Daekin in this pursuit, as so instructed.

All reports must be given to Daekin Sarwick upon request to be issued to my office for address to the Minister of War.

Looking to Ralston he nodded. "If there is nothing else Daekin then you are dismissed, you have a long road ahead of you."
