[Location] The Womb of the World
~*| The Womb of the World |*~

Description:
A cave of enormous proportions, The Womb of the World was discovered a long long time ago, when the Kemite's first settled the Outlands and founded their shining city of the Sunn. However, not often explored, the Womb of the World is thought (by the Kemites in Zinn'Sunn) to be the place all life on Telath erupted forth. Housing an extensive cave system, the Womb itself is nearly a two hundred and fifty feet across and drops straight down nearly twenty two thousand feet. The bottom of the cave houses an enormous fresh water lake surrounded by ledges and banks that lead off in all different directions.
Numerous activities are conducted within the Womb, some being ancient Kemite rituals. Women often come here to drink from the numerous springs found within the cave system, hoping to be granted life within their bodies. Others take recreation to a higher level, often jumping from the cave roof and free-falling into the cave where at the last minute packs carefully stuffed with silk and canvas material are released, lifting the jumpers and allowing them to sink slowly enough at the very last minute so as to not slam into the water and to their death. Numerous suicides occur here, with people finding the irony of jumping back into the womb a way to escape their births from one. Paintings line some of the walls, and in some places couples have placed their names in hearts. The Womb of the World is an interesting place, often the sight of splunkers and climbers willing to lower themselves into the darkness (which isn't so dark once they get down within) and explore. Luminous fungi often light the way to some of the more far off caves, and indeed herbalists and druids from all over are constantly working with some of the unusual flora and fauna found within the cave system.

Sometimes, though often on rarer occasions, creatures emerge from the womb. These things are unlike nothing anyone in Lauryl has ever seen. Sometimes, scholars claim that due to this unusual fact, the Womb can be very dangerous and indeed might lead to a portal that travels to another realm. Others claim that no, in fact, the Womb is simply the entrance to the resting place of a great wyrm, one of Telaths last ancient dragons. They use score marks on the walls, some hundreds of feet high, to give credibility to their argument. Regardless, the rarity of these odd creatures appearing is such that the Womb is still actively used for recreation, picnicking, rowing, exploring, and ritual whenever the Kemites feel it should be. They all hold a special reverence for it, but they have no actual fear that something within will wake, or indeed something strange will emerge on their watch.
