[Location] The Relator of Dreams

~*| The Relator of Dreams |*~
Description:
In the outlands appropriately situated on the outskirts of the Forest of Dreams a mysterious, almost disturbing, building could be found to those who sought the Relator of Dreams. Like the Forest of Dreams, the Relator's home was located on a mystical region; however the Relator’s home in the surrounding forest was surprisingly different to that of the Forest of Dreams which held enchantment and beauty. The building and forest area of the relator was said to never have seen the sun. In its place, the moon shone brighter here than it did in any other place in the world. Many people thought it made sense dreams mostly took place throughout the darkening. The dark was the condition for, and place of sleep even when the darkness was through the mere closing of one’s eyelids as they embraced sleep.
The moon’s light added to the eeriness the area offered all visitors. Mist cloaked the surroundings adding to its mystery. One had to focus all their attention and peer through half closed eyes as they cautiously walked through the location. Nothing except for tall ancient trees could be clearly seen. No one, even those with the best eyesight could see more than a few steps in front of them.
As one walked deeper into the vicinity the once alert and focused eyes began to feel heavier; feet nearly stumbled; one could try rubbing at their eyes, or even pinch their skin to keep themselves awake and alert but the urge to sleep is overwhelming. It sometimes took a person brightenings of darkness to find the Relator of Dreams. In that time one could not help, could not resist, the call of sleep. Their feet faltered before drawing to a halt and in the Relator's forest, visitors would lie down and sleep on the forest floor. Their subconscious minds would touch upon the realm of dreams. What type of dream or nightmare one had upon the forest floor varied. The dream or nightmare was dependent on the person, the person’s heart, soul, nature and their intentions in the world they lived in. The subconscious mind never lied, everything about the person was stripped naked and bare in the realm of dreams. The person’s dream stayed with them in the wakeful realm. And often this dream was one of the first items on the agenda the Relator was consulted on.
When one did finally wake the moon was in the same position, not a creature was seen nor heard. A visitor’s possessions remained untouched; their physical body remained in the same condition it had been before the sleep took hold. As one got to their feet, standing before them were large stone pillars constructed in a line resembling a fence. A few steps behind the fence a beautiful female stood with wavy hair running down to her hips. The female looked like an angel clothed in a long luminous white dress which seemed to capture the brightness of the sun while possessing the moon’s soft gleam. She seemed as though she was floating, wisps of hair floated in the breeze yet one could not feel even the slightest of winds. A smile displayed itself upon her pale lips as she beckoned you to follow her as she made her way into her home.
Upon entering inside the building the remaining strands of tiredness and fatigue evaporated as visitors felt revitalised and refreshed. The house seemed as though it was made of only one large room alone and there at the back of the room the female sat on a pile of cushions with her legs folded. She gestures to the cushions opposite her and then in a surreal voice that seemed to be of both high and low tones all at the same time, the female spoke. “I have been expecting you. I will fetch us a tea and then we can talk.” She smiled an angelic smile before she left seeming to disappear in the blink of an eye. As one looks to where she had been sitting, not a dent could be seen in the soft cushions she had been seated upon. These were but a few mysteries of the Relator. Returning a short while later, she poured two cups of chamomile tea; the relator purposefully chose chamomile tea for its calmness she often found was needed when talking about a certain subject which often came up, nightmares. With her tea in hand, the relator seemed to float to the cushions before she seated herself again. Her deep eyes seemed to change colours as she looked into her visitor’s eyes. “Now tell me child, why have you come?”

Mid-winter, era XV post-fracture
"Dreams. I have dreams."
The old elf spoke. Or at least, in the waking world, he seemed to be an old elf. The truth was rather different; and any incursion into dreamworld would show this. In the dreamworld, his hands were claws, his body was scaled, and his wings were full. A great blue-scaled beast; scarred beyond ages and mercifully free of the soft-skinned condition he had adopted for so long. In his dreams, he hunted. In his dreams, the world burned; and it was beautiful.
But regardless, the ancient within an elf shell was speaking, describing in a halting voice- a voice twisted with an identity long suppressed- the dreams which had brought him to this location.
"I wake up, and my memories are already fading. But I have sensations, sometimes. Snippets. It's like a child of mine has died. Two children- two beautiful children. One, twisted in mind- a innocent thing turned into a ravenous beast, one lost in spirit- in a city of light, waiting alone for the dark. I feel like I've been there before, but I can't have... my hands reach out, and they're claws that turn into elven hands; and suddenly my other child- she's screaming, ripping at her own skin.
I'm struggling to reach both of them; across some sort of boundary, but I can never touch them. They don't know who I am. If they saw me, they wouldn't recognise me. I don't know who they are- I've never met them. But both of them are lost; far lost."
He paused, his green hair dropping forward over his eyes as he slumped. His eyes seemed dull, free of their characteristic spark. Teeth glinted, almost seeming to sharpen with frustration. Even as an elf, deep within the the shell of frayed vis-strands and barely hidden hungers, there was an air of alienness surrounding him. And here, so close to touching the dreams that haunted him, the thin shell of elf-nature that hid the truth of him was wavering.
"It makes little sense to me. But I've learned not to underestimate dreams. The visit, then... I want to know what they mean. Perhaps remember more. I would like you to analyze my dreams, if you can."

Zeherah’s hair turned green reflecting that of her customer as her grey eyes stared intently at the aged Elf. After a time she softly spoke. “You are wise to not underestimate dreams. In some way dreams are connected to reality.” The green of Zeherah’s hair darkened until it was black; it seemed to swirl as if it has a life of its own. Customers often found her appearance disconcerting or distracting at the very least. One had to put effort into hearing and comprehending her softly spoken words. The demon outcast took no notice however; she continued to speak in her silken tone.
“When we sleep our souls leave our bodies and travel to another plane known as the realm of dreams. Dreams exist due to a number of reasons. Dreams can be an indication of the thoughts and feelings of the individual that are given form in the subconscious; Dreams can occur due to supernatural aspects; Dreams can form as a way of visiting and having contact with ancestors; Dreams can exist in the form of prophecy..."
Her words seemed to not only be heard and registered by the Elf but it also left a distinct impression upon him. The reality of her words seemed to exist within him long after the demon had spoken them into the air. Each sentence lingered, it teased; it caressed his soul and demanded contemplation; dreams spoke the truth and the words demanded the truth to be known and acknowledged by the Elf, yet it was a puzzle and there were so many pieces missing and illogical. Because of this, many believed dreams were stemmed from anxiety, a physical illness or stimuli in the woken world affecting one's sleep such as a noise. Others believed dreams were nothing but evil; the devil was believed to fill the living's mind with poisonous thoughts in the attempt to mislead the dreamer down a wrong path....
