Seeing Without Eyes - Hearing Without Sound (Teacup)
TS: Imperos, Autumn, XIV (pf)
Setting: A glade uptop the Sunn Mountain, outside the Sunn Monastery. |
|
|
The fae should have had no trouble following Lileth's directions. The stream flowed gently, quiet in the heart of autumn now that spring was over and the summer suns had drank it all but dry.
The glade was easy to find, so too was the Sunn Father sitting upon a cushion next to it beneath a tree. A second fae sized cushion was beside it. The monk was still, almost devoid of life, as if listening to the silence and communing with it in a way that could never quite be described. Kimsan didn't greet Teacup, nor did he twitch a muscle in acknowledgment that he was even there. His breathing was even, deep, and relaxed.
There was peace in the air, even as the alder released their leaves... one or two here at a time... and turned golden, welcoming the winter and getting ready to sleep.

Teacup floated high over the tree tops, slowly being nudged along by the gentle breeze occupying this altitude. He was enjoying himself, navigating the eddies that emerged into existence with no more cause or reason than just to be and disappearing again with as much notice. He had found out long ago that his light frame was extremely susceptible to such disturbances, being thrown around as though he was a human’s rag doll. This was of course unless he kept his wits; offering the flows the respect they deserved. After years of practise these eddies were no longer a hazard but a thrill, when ridden correctly they offered his light form power and fast changes with no effort at all.
Just as with a human’s walk, teacup’s flight and navigation was operating in his hind-thoughts as he carried on with his main task. It wasn’t difficult to find the stream running down the mountain side, now he was following it up towards the spring in search for Kimsan the Sunn Master whom Lileth had spoken of. There were two things she had said that kept playing back and fourth into his thoughts;
Quote:

He sees without eyes.. .and he hears without sound
|
All of Lileth’s words were succinct as Teacup had remarked upon earlier. It was for this reason that all she had said was sticking firmly in his mind. There could be not doubt with all the arcana energies flowing through this plane that an individual of learning could be capable of such a feat. Yet, again, Teacup felt that casting a spell would be too crude a measure for the Sunn Monastery, especially for such a passive activity as observing. Perhaps Lileth simply meant that the Sunn Father was very observant to his surrounding physicality’s, but perhaps it was also possible to passively observe the arcanic flows that had been touched by the physical forms in the world. Teacup could not be sure.
Up ahead Teacup sighted the spring, he smiled to himself, it was indeed a lovely place as Lileth had mentioned. Of course all nature appeared beautiful to Teacup so this was hardly a surprise. Teacup was not sure which tree Kimsan was under but he assumed the Sunn Master would be very close to the spring itself. He decided to land a short way out; assuming the Sunn Master was human, Teacup was trying to be courteous by taking the ordinary approach of a human. A slight well of contempt flowed through his head as this thought flowed across his minds eye.
Teacup shot down weaving through the leaves, again enjoying the challenge, having to think three steps ahead and dangers presented. After no more than two seconds Teacup was through the canopy and floating just off the ground. A blue shimmer, seemedly hovering on the edge of existence, let his feet touch the ground. He could see the Sunn Father now.
As expected the individual was a human; Teacup remarked that he was beginning to like these mountain humans, they appeared more intelligent, less self obsessed than those in the city. Teacup’s suddenly guarded his thoughts, becoming self conscious; To what degree could the Sunn Master see him? How naked was Teacup to this man? This man who would not move, to greet despite his obvious knowledge of Teacup’s coming, as was made obvious by the cushion. As small flare of arrogance and defiance flared through the fae’s thoughts before he had a chance to stop it. Teacup stood there dead still for a second, guarding his thoughts, holding the previous few thought sets tight behind a blacked out wall before he realised the pointlessness and irony of what he was doing; hiding the thoughts he was here to release… from a man whom, were he capable of feeling Teacup’s energies could probably delve a great deal deeper than Teacup could hide.
It was futile and a waste to hide his thoughts, here of all places; Teacup let go of his mind and for a brief instant he let the arrogance, defiance and contempt of humans spill out. This did not cure them as he knew, but they could not be hidden. Perhaps they should not be cured, they were after all part of him.
With the knowledge that he must walk forward or simply leave, Teacup let his feet guide him forward, eventually reaching the larger occupied and smaller vacant cushion. Standing there Teacup looked up the Sunn Master, who still had not moved nor greeted him. This did annoy Teacup as, hypocritically, it struck him as arrogant. Teacup thought of speaking but it did not seem appropriate to say hello here as right now, in this tranquillity, words felt out of place. Perhaps this was a test, to see whether Teacup was worthy of teaching, or perhaps it was simply a test to see how to teach him; qualitative rather than quantitative. Perhaps it was both. It felt best to reproduce the actions of the Sunn Father, Teacup had few suggestions otherwise so he let his feeling guide him in this instance.
Teacup sat down on the cushion, closed his eyes and waited for the Sunn Master to respond to his presence. With the previous realisation that ‘his energies might be more than obvious and the foolishness of attempting to hide them’ still strong, Teacup did not goal his thoughts. Instead he simply sat there and relaxed his mind and body, letting his thoughts run through.
His thoughts quickly settled once again on Lileth’s words;
Quote:
|
Kimsan meditates there. If he is willing, and your words are wise, he will see to your training. But be kind, and be thoughtful. He isn't an ordinary Sunn Father. He sees without eyes.. .and he hears without sound
|

He sees without eyes.. .and he hears without sound

Teacup wondered if perhaps the Sunn Fathers perception was more acute than he had prior conceived. Perhaps Lileth’s words were less riddled than he had prior thought. It was obvious that he had nothing to loose so Teacup, sitting relaxed with eyes close, thought the words;
“Hello, my name is Teacup... I wish to let go and look at the core of what is me... can you help me?”
With that Teacup relaxed and waited.

The Sunn Master was enjoying himself. It was a truly lovely day, a brilliant one in fact because all within his world was at peace and enjoying a harmony that was often overlooked throughout life. Kimsan had no prejudices, despite what little Teacup might have been thinking. He was wise to understand that within the world, size had no meaning. Race had no meaning. Sex, color, religion... none had a meaning. All the meaning that contained everything was bottled up in the mind and heart of each individual, no matter what form they took. The Sunn Master was one of the highest ranking Sunn Monks within the Monastery. Had Teacup known they'd sent him right to the source, his angstful mind might have relaxed a bit more and realized it was an honor to go sit with the Sunn Master rather than be sent to one of the numerous Sunn fathers for teaching.
At Teacup's words, Kamsin opened his eyes and looked over at the Fae. His shaved head glittered with the fallen sunlight as he bowed his head to the fae and studied him intently. "Why do you wish to look into the core of what is you?" His question was forthright and firm, but there was no accusation or predetermined judgment about the tone. It was curious, and that was it. The Sunn Monks blue eyes stared into Teacups as he waited for the answer.
Regardless of what it was, he'd speak afterwards as well. "You're ability to see is not in question. However, to truly understand that which you see is going to take a lot of work. That you are here speaks volumes to me about your desire to understand. What do you know of meditation?" The Sunn Master said as he perched on the silk pillow. His expression was more animated now, as if he'd hit on a topic that truly interested him. Mediation for the Sunn Monks was a way of life. They lived and breathed it, feeling it was one of the lifebloods of their world and something that truly kept them grounded in their studies. They were always glad to teach it, and though they sometimes charged... eager students were often simply taught without request for compensation.
