[Location] Temple of Internal Enlightenment

~*| Temple of Internal Enlightenment |*~

Description:

Situated in the tranquillity of the forest; a mere brightening’s walk away from the city of Zinn‘Sunn; a temple stood high on a hill above the tree-tops. The temple held a look of wisdom and mystery to all who gazed upon it; the elders believed the temple was used by heathens in a time long ago. Shrouded in mist, the temple was often hidden from sight while the heathens sacrificed their souls and participated in demonic activities. This was never proved however, but the legend of the temple lived on in the Kermite’s minds and not many dared to venture to the temple. The temple remained vacant as the city of Zinn’Sunn grew and prospered.

Then one day a group of mysterious Monks came to Zinn’Sunn and brought the deeds to the temple. The citizens threw distrustful and suspicious stares at the Monks; whispers filtered through the streets and fears grew about the temple and the Monks business there. Hushed questions were asked ‘Are they the servants of Torek or are they servants of other demon gods?’ Upon walking the streets of Zinn’Sunn, the citizens fears were soon laid to rest as the Monks were seen consulting with the Monks of the city and giving their blessings in the name of Torek to Zinn‘Sunn’s people. As the citizen’s caution was abandoned they openly and boldly asked the Monks questions about the temple and the Monks intentions. The Monks answered all questions with humour and kind smiles while never actually telling the secrets they held. The monks then kept to themselves and began their work on maintaining the building. The Monks were often seen in Zinn’Sunn gathering supplies and running errands. No one knew what exactly they were doing with the temple but they believed in their hearts that the Monks were harmless and good servants of Torek.

Life continued and the Monks were hardly seen walking the streets of Zinn’Sunn. The other Monks of the city were consulted and even they would not tell but would only give reassuring words and a smile. Brightening’s turned into cycles and finally the group of Monks returned to Zinn’Sunn and unshrouded the mystery they had been harbouring. The Monks dressed in matching red robes announced the news of the temple; they introduced it by its new name The Temple of Internal Enlightenment and explained in soft tones what they intended the temple to be used for: a peaceful place where meditation is taught; “for meditation,” one Monk explained, “not only strengthens and shines light upon ones self but also strengthens ones spirit.“ There was another mystery of the temple the Monks kept secret. They wished for the mystery to be revealed only to the people that visited the temple; for the secret of aiding and healing what is internal should remain a mystery; each person who was brave enough to confront their own demons, conscience and fears would benefit from the secrets and mysteries the temple of internal enlightenment held.

As one made their journey to the temple; they would find a clear path through the forest and upon the tree trunks signs were displayed informing and directing one's way to the temple. Upon walking half a brightening the temple could be seen secreted amongst the trees. The temple’s demeanour had changed from seeming dark, mysterious and evil to now appearing beautiful, welcoming and sacred. Upon arriving at the temple's doors a Monk answered the knock with a warm smile as he ushered the person inside. The Monk walks the visitor to where another Monk is seated behind a grand wooden desk. Refreshments were offered and then business went under way. The Monk looked up from his paperwork and said in a open but proficient tone “Are you here to sign up for meditation classes? We offer a very fair price. We also offer you the experience of entering the dungeons of light...” The Monk leaned forward and whispered their most beloved and miraculous secret. “Dungeons of light is mental training. It offers you the chance to face your demons, your fears and your conscience. This is a way of facing up to your truths and making you stronger in spirit, internally strengthened...” The Monk arched his brow. “Are you brave enough to take on this internal crusade? When seeing your inner reflection will you like what you see?”

16th Brightening in the Month of Imperos, in the Season of Autumn, Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum.

After having been meditating in Zinn'Sunn for many months, Veleraen had found out about a temple in the hillside outside of the holy city. It was a place of solitude dedicated to the strengthening of the mind, body and spirit and it was a place that Veleraen surely could have benefited from.

It was a good brightening's trek up through the hills to get to the Temple of Internal Enlightenment as it was so called. When the Knight had asked around the city for good places to meditate, the name of the Temple came up and the Giant instantly had to go explore as his curiousity and pursuit of self betterment got the best of him. Any new place where there was a possibility of opening one's mind to the world and preserving it from the evils that sought to creep within it was a blessing and Veleraen could not turn that down.

The autumn had brought rain and clouds and even though droplets fell from the heavens and tried to bring the spirits of the world down, Veleraen was still light on his feet, still opting to take the high road. So many of his experiences in Zinn'Sunn had helped him gain that internal confidence that he had lacked for so long and now it was starting to show as he trekked through the forest. He was in full pack, as he wasn't sure how long he was to stay, all of his belongings, armour and weapons upon him, even though he was sure he wasn't going to need them, he brought them anyways.

Hakan stayed low to the treetops, opting to flutter about, flying and hopping off of tree tops as if they were his own personal perches. He was making a lot of racket, more than Veleraen was used to hearing from the giant bird of prey. "Silly bird..." He sent up a sarcastic thought and all he received was a cacophony of caws and clucks from above as the falcon made his way through the forest canopy as his leisure.

Veleraen had been told about the legend of the temple and how it had been turned into a temple run now by the monks. It was a place to confront one's demons, one's fears and conquer them internally, fighting them off mentally and gaining the strength needed to push through that boundary of peace of mind. It was something Veleraen had sought for such a long time and hopefully the monks of this temple would be able to help him achieve what his soul sought for so long.

Peering through the fog, Veleraen spied the temple above him, atop a large hill protruding through the forest. It was a welcoming sight, so peaceful, so tranquil. There were signs and clearly marked paths towards the temple and Veleraen easily found his way up to the front door of the Temple, knocking with his large hands upon the entryway.

"Serale, my name is Sir Veleraen." Veleraen gave a slight bow as he was welcomed into their home. He took off his helmet and tucked it under his arm as he showed his face and looked around. He was in a bit of a small room, in comparison to what he was used to, where another monk sat behind a desk. Refreshments were offered and Veleraen gratefully accepted as the trek had left him a little thirsty.

"I would be grateful for any lessons given and am willing to pay for them. I would however like to enter this, dungeon of light you refer to. I have not heard of any other place like this and want to take the opportunity to explore my inner thoughts, my subconscious, my very being. Perhaps you or one of your fellow kinsman can lead me on such a journey. I have been meditating for many eras now but still seek the comfort to ease the agony put upon my soul. Aslan guides me in his ways but I still seek to face my demons and take away all that plagues me. Can you help me?" Veleraen's deep voice was filled with truth and sincerity. He stood tall and awaited the monk's answer, curious as to what this 'dungeon of light' had to offer. It was something that most not strong of mind could not handle and Veleraen felt he would be able to test himself yet again, to find the answers for himself and for Torek, once and for all.

OOCI'm already under going 2 training threads atm, so i can't take on a meditation class at the moment, but a romp through the dungeon of light would be cool.

The Monk seated behind the desk tilted his head up to look in the eyes of the giant. Slight wrinkles around the monk's eyes creased as he smiled and nodded his head in response to the Giant's words. "Dungeon of light. Well Sir Veleraen I think a journey through the dungeon of light is just what you need. I must inform you before we proceed; my order does not take any responsibility or blame for what may happen through your personal quest as well as the mental damage and harm your inner demons and ghosts may bring upon you. Do you understand?" The Monk held the Giant's gaze with a look of intensity and seriousness.

The Monks had found from past experiences that some could not confront their reality for what it was; some people did not like what they saw on their personal crusade and instead of facing the truth of themselves, some left the dungeon in denial with blank faces and eyes that held looks of silent fear; while others left the dungeon in anger, placing the blame on the Order rather than themselves; trickery was a better justification; to a few it was the only justication of their experience.

When the Monk was satisfied the Giant had clearly understood, the Monk spoke again in a friendlier and lighter tone. "Now then. I see that you have brought luggage with you. I cannot give you any indication of how long the dungeon of light will take, each person has a different experience and a different time frame. From past experiences the quest has been tiring and taxing on each person. I suggest we place your luggage in a room and you can decide afterwards whether you would like to stay or go...Now that will be 350 golden crowns to be paid now in full and please sign this parchment pledging that no blame or indecent action will be placed on the Order." The Monk slid the parchment across the desk whilst he held out a pen to the Giant.

The Monk rang a bell and in the next instant another Monk appered to offer assistance with the Giant's luggage and to lead the Giant to what the order called 'the waiting room' -- a small room left bare of visual objects and furniture except for one wooden chair situated in the middle of the room. Once the visitor has been shown into the room, the Monks left them in silence; allowing them the time to get mentally prepared for the journey before them. Some of the more religious people liked to spend that time in prayer, others in meditation; everyone had their own way and were left undisturbed to find their own peace of mind before their world was either turned upside down, or came tumbling down inside of them.

OOC: Reply to this post in a new thread: [temple of internal enlightenment] Feel free to rp following the monk into your room to drop off the luggage and then to the 'waiting room.'

Secrets :
I sure can take you on that 'romp' through the dungeon of light. And I hope once you finish a training thread you can return
