[Location] Ire Animal Enclosure
In the lower city along the eastern wall there is a field that stretches out away from the wall in toward the city in a rectangular shape. This long field is divided in two parts by a simple wood fence with various swing gates that allow people to enter from just about any direction onto the field. Pardahun Votar are more visible here patrolling the perimeter of the enclosure. It Is not really clear if they are trying to protect the enclosure from people going in or things coming out. The barks, growls, and screams coming from inside the enclosure might suggest that the Pardahun are fully geared up for protection against whatever is inside just in case those things get out.
As one approaches the enclosure, the stench gets worse. Inside the main gate of the enclosure, there is a simple wood structure with no front wall. A tarp of animal hide hangs over the front of the shack giving a good shade to those standing outside waiting to see the Dyr zot (Stable Master). Under the tarp is a wood table where an orc sits checking in and out animals to patrons, sort of like a valet service. Goblins wander here and there all over the enclosure along with the occasional orc carrying buckets of dung or armloads of food and fodder to established piles in various places throughout the enclosure.
Patrons that are part of the Horde come here for their entire animal training whether combat related or Lore. All animals that the Horde are required to learn about are housed here. Once you are verified as a Horde member at the check-in shack, a goblin will lead you out into the enclosure toward the left side. Along here is a long stable made of wood but reinforced by iron. Inside are housed bantis, horse, worg, etc. all used in battle. These animals are disciplined, well kept, and fed the best feed to keep them in top fighting form. Goblins, orcs, and even dark elves standby in this stable to offer you the Lore or combat training you need.
Patrons that are not Horde members must check in at the shack and wait to be assisted. There are many of these people loitering outside the shack and under the tarp. Sometimes this causes a real body jam when trying to sign up for training or Lore. Once you finally shove your way to the front of the table, the orc sitting there simply looks up and waits to hear what you are here to learn. Any animal can be offered here for combat training, Lore, or just ask for your own animal housed here to do with what you want. Trainers intermittently come to the shack and ask for “who’s next”. After a trainer has taken you on, you may proceed with training.
The non-Horde animals are far less disciplined. Inside the enclosure along the right side leading toward the wall are all of the un-broke animals. There are various pits where the more ferocious ones are kept like the worgs and such. Each pit has a heavy iron cage door covering it. An orc stands at each pit ready to assist you in opening the pit. The orcs are armed with long prods with ropes to subdue the animal if needed. The untrained horses run wildly around a fenced area and there is even a pig’s pen nearby the horse pen. These animals are raw but ready to be taught or assist in teaching the learner.
Along the far end of the enclosure set against the wall of the city is a row of stalls and cages housing the various animals owned by the citizens or the city. These stalls are the targets of many of the thieves in the city always trying to get their hands on things that they can either barter or ransom back to you. For this reason, there is a Pardahun orc specifically stationed here to stand watch. Even this is not enough to stop the better thieves. The Pardahun only lets the valet goblins and orcs take animals from these stalls and anyone not a valet is challenged. Keeping in mind that disrespecting (or stealing from) a Pardahun on duty is a serious offense that could lead to a date in the Pit.
Any buying or selling of animals is handled by the Dyr zot (Stable Master) named Baryll you are reminded by the valet orc. Patrons wanting this sort of service are pointed into the shack where there is a desk and an orc sitting. The orc sits in a chair and looks to be asleep. As people approach him, he barely opens one eye then shuts it again.
“ Wha ju want?” he grumbles.
