[Location] Ire Goblin Village
One way in, one way out, that is what you notice about the eight foot high wall enclosure at the Northeast corner of the city. Once you enter through the only opening in the wall, a whole village comes into view. Small fires dot a barren ground. Scattered in no real order are several mounds of stones with some having thatched roofs. Doorways can be seen with heavy wood doors and most of the mounds have no windows or windows basically a slot in the wall too small to really let any sun pierce the dark within. Walking through the village you can see faint orange glows from within these mounds and shadows pass by the window slots from time to time. What would live in such crypts? What inside these mounds would need such thick doors and not want bigger windows than a slot? Why is there a noticeable absence of Fos Rog or Pardahun Votar orcs here? These are odd questions to ask until you notice what race fills this village. Goblins, the smallest and most nefarious race in the whole city (next to the orcs). You begin to see them walking in and out of their mounds, slinking around dark corners, and the way they look at you makes you keep one hand on your valuables.
Goblins are not as developed as the orcs physically and that includes their ability to see in daylight. The goblins are hard to find during the day and mainly stay within their mounds out of the sun. At night, it is a different story. They are like insects that find their way into some of the most secure places. This has been a problem for the Pardahun Votar but the City Master has found it better to use this talent than trying to suppress it. It is no secret that the City Master uses goblins to carry out personal subterfuge missions and in fact, a very powerful goblin Thief Guild is housed within this very enclosure.
Zigzagging through the mounds that make up the resident’s housing, there is a clearing along the east wall with a large structure carved out of stone. This massive building has a gothic look about it with various goblin figures and symbols carved into the stone walls. The structure’s back is facing the main outer wall of the city and large iron reinforced wood doors fill the arch that makes up the main entrance. A large crowd is gathered in front of this structure. This must be the Thief Guild you have heard being talked about around the city. The crowds of unfortunates that loiter here are all after the same thing… work.
Working your way back toward the center of the village, there stands the only wood structure in the whole enclosure. It is the meeting hall and residence of the goblin tribal leader Krual. Krual is worshipped by the goblins that make up his clan as he is a living descendant of the tribal leader that fought to give the goblins of Orckon their unofficial title as a hosted clan of Orckon. Though no orc will acknowledge this title, it is not something any goblin will deny. For this, Krual is virtually an untouchable in the city and will do whatever it takes to ensure that title is never taken from his tribe.
You now know that the residents here live the way they do for a reason, security. In an effort to keep track of all going in and out of the village, the wall was placed around the village. What good will eight foot high walls do to keep a creature contained that can break into just about any place within the city is unknown. Perhaps, it is not the goblins the city is trying to keep track of.
