Winds howl down from the Khardran Mountains and rains trickle down the eroded path that leads to the North Gate to the city/fortress of Orckon (or Ire as the Aelyrians call it). This gate resembles the Main Entrance to the city with its massive iron gates topped with battlements but with one difference; this gate remains closed except to the Horde and certain government officials. Anyone trying to enter this gate will receive a much more rude welcome than the one that is usually seen at the south gate. The purpose of this gate is more of an escape route into the Khardran Mountains or a way for persons not to be noticed coming or going from the city.

There large swath of dead earth that lies between the gates and the foothills looks to be deserted but in fact, it is one of the most heavily guarded places in or around the city. Eyes are everywhere here and worg riders patrol the foothills nearby to ensure none try to use the hills as a perch in which to spy upon the city. Those caught trying to approach the city from the north or simply those that wander too far south of the Charisma Pass in the Khardran Mountains find themselves under attack from orc patrols from the city. Those actually captured from these attacks are drug down to the city and hung from the walls or worse!
Getting past the patrols in the foothills was just the first step in reaching the North Gate. The obvious silence one experiences approaching the gates over open terrain gives the not so subtle feeling down the back of your neck that you are indeed being watched. Though orcs can be seen atop the battlements above the gates, only glimpses of shadows can be seen in the surrounding area, atop the walls, and in the hills from which you just came. As you approach the closed gates, a sinlge orc will yell down to you from the battlements attempting to speak the best common tongue he is capable of:

Wha biz-niss ju hab here?” the orc demands.

NPCs to use at this location:
Name: Grug
Race/gender: Orc, male
Appearance: You can barely make Grug out. He is only visible when he peers over the battlement at you over 20 feet in the air. All that can be made out is that he is an orc.
Demeanor: Highly suspicious of anyone wanting access through HIS gate. He takes great pleasure in knowing that his words only can open this gate to a visitor from the outside.
