To the Nest of a Katta...
Out of a simple glass jug came the gentle flow of water. A pair of thin, pursed lips reach to the flow and drink deeply, a needed refreshment. Each brightening is long indeed, yes? Peering down a slender, well formed nose, across a fur covered face, were two haunting eyes, each one a pale yellow, slit, cat-like, and they watched silently as the water crept out of it's jug.
The room was a simple one, but exceedingly well kept. The small fireplace, the single force of heat in this old home, shone a clean, comforting light across the simple furnishings of this home. The soft, clean linens on a simple, oak bed...the ungarnished and quaint arm-chair and it's accompanying desk sitting just far enough from the fire for the sake of safety.
Chyatur sat in that armchair as he had many a time before...but more often, he seemed to recall, had it been his father in this chair, reviewing with him something learned in school, sometimes going so far as to taunt him, challenge him.
The ages he had spent growing and living in this house...his youth...they had taken their toll upon him. His parents had long since left...the house had been his for quite some time...but his schooling had kept him away. Now he returned to the home of his parents, determined to make it his own. It had never been large, but it had fit the need.
His right eye, unblemished and clean, blinked once as he set aside the flask. The other, his left, barely moved at all. Set just a but further back, the lids were slightly more shut, but above and below extended three scars, the marks of a claw rake. Nonetheless his appearance was still rather remarkable. As are all Cheetari, his fur gave him a rather clean and intimate comfort, keeping him both warm and protected...at least more so than those raw skined others.
Sitting up, Chyatur of the Telemus family smiled faintly and yawned, his sharp white teeth glaring.
Another day, and still he had accomplished nothing...after graduating from the elementary schooling of the academy, he was finally home.
The only question was what to do now...

Chyatur sat across from the hearth, just as his father had done before him.
He gazed at the stones in the hearth. Though he knew each stone and how they interlaced each other, something was peculiar.
One stone seemed out of place.

Taking a moment to gaze reflectively, Chyatur was amazed that he saw anything peculiar at all. In fact very little of interest had occured since his return home after all this time...so of course this piqued his interest. Taking a second glance, he was sure of it. There was a stone that wasn't quite where it ought to have been...
"Well then...maybe just a little tug..."
Gently, almost playfully, Chaytur gave a few light pushes on the stone, just to see if it gave way, and of course if it was...well, they do say curiousity killed the cat. One swift pull to remove it perhaps?

The stone loosed in Chyatur's hands. His hard tug partially disloged it. Loose mortar fell onto the hearthstones below.
The stone pulled out and then stopped. It appeared to be held in place, or perhaps hinged so it would swing freely left to right.

"Well then...isn't this interesting..."
Having spent such time in this house as a youth, Chyatur seemed almost awestruck by the fact that there was anything at all within it that he had never seen.
In response, he tried sliding the brick in whatever direction it seemed inclined to move, curious to no end.

Curiosity at its peak, Chyatur pushed the stone to the right. A small opening was evident. It did not go very deep. There was something in the opening.
It looked like a metal edge. It was shaped like a small box.

Imagining to himself that there was almost no possibility of anything within this home providing danger to him at all, he simply reached in and withdrew the box-like object, eager to unravel this mystery. He had intended to make this house his own, and this seems a good first step.
Removing it, he examines it and, should it seem possible of course, attempts to open it.
"Hmm...I wonder..."

Chyatur held the metal box in his hand. He tried the lid. It moved readily.
He pulled back the lid. A cloth covering, tattered with age was wrapped around an object.
Chyatur moved the cloth back. Inside was a dagger. The blade reflected the light. The hilt appeared made of bone. On the pommel of the dagger was a gem. It was deep red in color.

Chyatur smiled to himself for a moment. Quite the luckly little find...but why? This little compartment had seemingly no purpose, and now that he had satiated his need to see what was inside, it was time to determine this strange little compartment's secret. First of course was to check the box. Carefully removing the dagger and it's cloth covering, he placed them on the desk and looked through the box.
Finding anything or not, the next step of course was to check the compartment. If this was something left behind by his father then it would be put back right where it was. Klemmar Telemus...both fleet of foot and mind...yet his heart was never quite in the right place. He had considered himself above his wild bretheren, and this household was an object of just that belief. When Chyatur had been a youth, his father had been a harsh master. His school of thought was that being hard upon a child created a stronger adult.
Klemmar though...he thought it was wise to send the youth away. Spending all his youth in the academy, Chyatur rarely, if ever, visited his home. One such visit had been the yule festival almost a year and a hlaf ago...he came home to the scene of his mother, the victim of a dorin aggressor and would be rapist. With his father nowhere to be found, Chyatur fought off the attacker, recieving his three scars as a prize.
His mother had been killed...a dagger through the heart, and his father had been nowhere to help, off buried in his books as always...a dagger through the heart...a...no!
This couldn't be the same dagger could it?????

Chyatur turned the box over. A strange symbol was drawn on the bottom. It had faded with age, but it appeared to be an irregular piece of land surrounded by water.
There was one word written underneath, but it was not in a language that Chyatur understood. It was curly letters and flowing script. The first letter was E.

The symbol confounded the Cheetari. In his studies he had never come across something such as this...thus he came to the decision that perhaps it was best that he bring it to a more scholarly man than himself.
The most likely option would be the Institute...yet they were far too busy with the allegations they are charged with...the great scholars occupied with criminal charges...
On the other hand...there was always his father. But turning to his father would mean far more of a journey than Chyatur was currently willing to make, which left only a single option open. To wander about aimlessly...
No wait...poor idea. Yet maybe it was wisest to see if anyone knew where a scholar, most specifically a lunguist, could be found. Thinking it wisest, he took of towards the Aedile. If anyone could help find someone of this nature, the Aedile was the one...
With that, Chyatur donned his brown longcoat, carefully placed the dagger withing the box and took off down the street. Answers...he needed answers, and quickly.

ooc: Hi Chyatur,
Please PM me when you find someone to translate and/or examine the dagger.
Also, PM me if you use it before you know its origin.
Serale,
Charlie
