City Gates (Post Here First, Please)
Those approaching from afar can easily see the Fortress City of Nexus Prime. The size alone is awe inspiring, four hundred thousand people crammed in between massive stone walls. Some lived on the outside of course, the outer city was far more peaceful than the inside, hosting mainly peasants and people who farmed or worked the surrounding lands. For the land around Nexus had been heavily farmed for generations. It took immense amounts of food to feed the population of the Capital of Arium and the inhabitants took a silent pride in that they almost managed to do so all by themselves.
The road to the gates were never still though, the Southern Gate, an elaborate gate made by the elves of Silrosia as a gift to Nexus Prime in times gone by was constantly running with people going back and forth from Kyathis and Silrosia and to more exotic locales in Arakmat and beyond. The Eastern Gate stood silent vigil, from here the surplus fish that came from the large fishing fleet took fish products inland, delivering it to such places as Mileswick and Vortex. This road too was busy, filled with travellers going back and forth, some on official errands, others just in from the country wishing to make a living in Nexus Prime and others again had more shady business. The Northern Gates though were mainly quiet, though the road lead to Paxia most preferred to go by boat, it was faster, and often safer. Even though the West Wardens did what they could to keep the roads safe, the Northern Road was not on their list of priorities.
No matter which path one entered the city though the result was always the same. A guard strode forwards wearing the uniform of the Nexus guards and spoke "State your name and business here in the Capital." The next session was known to most people, although weapons were rarely confiscated the guards did like to know if people carried them and there was also a general showing of visas before the entrant was allowed passage past the walls and into the grand city of Nexus Prime.
NPCs
Name: Kerni Warrow
Race/age/gender: Human, 23, male
Appearance: Kerni has dark hair and brown eyes. He is the poster boy for the guards, a pretty human, somewhat muscular but leaning towards lean. Around 1,80 m tall.
Demeanour: He is a bit of a dandy, will not mind flirting with any pretty ladies that pass by, but will rarely make anything of it. Likely to let ladies by easier though. Sees himself as a gentleman.
Name: Turkan Konnor
Race/age/gender: Human, 47, male
Appearance: Turkan is Kerni 20 years later. He has balding dark hair, hanging down to his shoulder but bald on top. His six pack is more of a barrel, he's generally panting slightly from exertion. Smells somewhat.
Demeanour: Gruff and unfriendly. Will generally allow illegal things to pass by in exchange for a suitable bribe (should be rp'd by a mod no selfmodding if you're trying to smuggle things past the guards). Tired of his job, but doesn't mind harassing visitors to the city, safe in the knowledge that he is within his right.
Notes:
Dark races (ie dracons, orcs, giants, saurids, vysstichi, Esh'lahier, mer and rodenti) are very likely to be hassled at the gates. Expect the guards to go through your papers very thoroughly, checking everything in minute detail. Often putting such a person out of the line till they can get back to them.
The gates are closed at night time. There are watchmen on the inside and they may let you in, but it'll cost you. For a few crowns it is possible to spend the night in a stable somewhere in the surrounding houses. No inns/taverns exist outside the walls.

of Aslanica The Summer of Era II of the Celestine Mandate Era XIV Post Fractum
Kavene was worn and relatively angry. He had hiked quite a while and had been pestered by numerous little things along the road. He had run out of supplies last night, but was happy to see that he had finnally reached his destination.
Nexus Prime, a massive city by anyones standards. He was just surprised that they needed such a big wall. Portshires wall he could easily climb up, this one was different.
This one wasn't for show, but for keeping people out. Still that thought had only flickered through his mind for a brief moment as he went back to be grouchy.
He walked up to the gate expecting little resistance or acknowledgment at all. It was dawn and the gaurds should still be sleepy. He just hoped that they weren't as cranky as he was.
He walked to the gate pasport ready. He was just wearing a semblance of the grin that he usually wore. While he waited for them to read it over he opened up his cloak, showing 37 knifes, after pointing to the claymore and halberd that were each draped across his back, forming an X.
"Kavene Darklight at yer service! Former Guild master of the docs of Portshire, helper of the People, as well as the marines of Portshire. Here to learn the Golem Craft. Do ye know where the crafters in this city live?"
It was short and to the point. He wanted to get through the gate and find the information and get settled as soon as possible.
The sleepy guards eyed his weaponry. It was indeed worth envying, but kavene knew enough about using it that he doubted anyone would try to take it from him.
The guards eventually gave him back his visa, since he appeared to be someone of standing, and he continued on his way, unfortunately, without the information he wanted. He decided then to start his search at the library, where the fabled minitar golem's resided.

Kavene was content with his training with the golem crafters. He had learned enough from Boris and Martha of Nexus Prime and was ready to head back home, to Portshire. He was prepared for what was to come. He was sure that people would not be very happy to see him back home, where he would continue his crusade for the common man, but he was better prepared now. He had golems to watch his back and work for him. He had golems to sell and get rich off of.
He and His golems would save portshire, where others had tried and failed.
In 25 more days he would finally be home.
Little did he know, that his teachers fates would not be as appeasing. If he had stayed just a few more candelmarks, he could have saved them...

49th Brightening of Ioannes in the Season of Summer, Era XIV PF
They came in on the powers of the Silrosian ferry and their own two feet. That is: two men and a baby. It was a relatively odd sight for anybody who looked at them, particularly since the younger one was clearly a half-elf and the baby he carried was just as clearly fully human, but Lyr, at least, had grown used to the mystified stares the unlikely trio generated and had learned how to glower back in such wise that the starers speedily proceeded on their own business.
"City walls!" The Vagaran cried triumphantly as the gates of Nexus Prime rose before them. He'd spent enough time either traveling through the forest and or living in it, in the form of Silrosia - and, lately, traveling by boat or ferry through the wide expanses of the ocean. His city-bred sensibilities cried out for the feel of cobblestones under the soles of his boots and the smell of dirt and human waste in his nostrils.
"Serale, there." Lyr lightly saluted the surly guard who stopped him at the gates and motioned with impatience for him to produce his papers. "Right, just a moment..." Lyr fished around in his pack until he found the required documents and handed them over.
"Hurmph. I'll need to see yer pack." Lyr's smile faded as he heard the suspicious requirement for entry into the promised lands of Nexus Prime, but complied. There was nothing incriminating in his pack... nothing at all... good thing I threw away those boots...
"Er, the baby's mine too." Lyr admitted helpfully, nodding at Rose. The surly guard blinked in some surprise, looked first at Lyr, then at Rose, then in suspicion at Ken, then again at Lyr, who continued to smile blandly; and finally handed the vagaran back his pack.
"You're set. I'll need to see his papers too." The guard nodded at Kenkuroi. Lyr took a few steps forward, looking at the street leading into the heart of Nexus, as he waited for the half-elf. First thing's first: they'd have to find an inn, something cheap, and eat - Lyr was starving for some fresh-baked bread, cheese, and a large side of well-fattened ham. And then... then he'd see. He wasn't entirely sure what Nexus would have to offer him just as yet; but at least it was a city, and, therefore, a land of opportunity - just waiting for the picking...

Similar to Lyr, Kenkuroi was happy to see the city walls of 'civilization'..... more 'human civilization' or better defined as a more common scene for the idea of civilization to the average citizen. The young half elf's mood had lightened up considerably since they left the elven stronghold of Silrosia and its thick green, lush forests, which was peculiar seeing as how he had half the blood of the Syl'rosian elves, and a noble at that, or once had been.
But Ken did not grew up in Silrosia. He grew up with his Kemite mother, a vagrant who traveled between 'human civilization', therefore was not that appreciative of the elves love for Carmelya's presence or any of the elves's custom and culture. Besides that, the boredom of Moonwillow and Mithania's resignation to their fate was suffocating the fiery, high spirited youth; itching him to leave the doomed Keep before it too consumed his strength and will.... and Lyr was just the perfect ticket for his freedom, even if it meant having to babysit his pesky infant daughter.
Dutifully, the half elf shifted baby Rose to one side as he rummaged around his pockets for his visa. After a few coos from an equally excited Rose, and many jingles of coins, he produced his crumpled up but still valid visa to the guard who had that look on his face, sort of freak curiosity as to what business was there for a man, a boy, and a baby traveling together.
Ken too, had perfected his art of glowering back at on-lookers (though for the half elf's case, he naturally had that look whenever he was grumpy, which most of the time he was), and was now glowering, returning the surly look back at the guard as he impatiently waited for his visa to be checked.
"What cha staring at?" Both boy and guard growled at each other in unison. Something Ken instantly regretted but was too proud to back down now, the guard on the other hand, glad to now have an excuse to rough someone up.
Secretly, he pinched Rose's bottom making poor Rose yelped and scream in annoyance, knowing the last thing someone like that surly guard needs on his watch was a crying baby.
"Here's your paper! Now get out of my sight and shut that baby up!" the guard growled exasperatedly, annoyed at the nuisance, a nuisance that was even beyond his power of authority.
Gladly snatching his visa back, the half elf quickly moved on, urgently ushering Lyr onwards, Lyr no doubt not really happy with what just happened, but with the proper implementation, Rose could prove to be a boon more then a curse indeed, both males will soon learn. This was just a start...

TS: First brightening of the first cycle of Imperos in the season of Autumn, Era XIV PF
Several days had already passed since Duncan started his journey, leaving the calm existence of a farmer for the excitement and peril of an adventurer's life. Seeking fame and fortune, he had set his sights on the wondrous fortified city of Nexus Prime, the perfect place for anyone who, like himself, wished to make of the arms his trade.
The old man would probably not be happy with the son's decision, but the old man was no more. Faustus Barnevile, veteran of war in honorable service of the imperial legions, the Red Wolf of Carmelyn, had died a mere month ago at the venerable age of fifty seven patterns. He had died in retirement, leading a simple life as a farmer, a deserved rest considering what he had to suffer in the battle field and outside of it. But his son, Duncan Anton Barnevile, was not ready for a retired calm life, he didn't want to lead a tranquil existence as a farmer, he craved glory, excitement, and deep inside, revenge.
As he approached the massive walls of the eastern gate of Nexus, the young lad sighted in amazement. For someone who had spent the last ten of his whole twenty-three patterns of life in the countryside of the Carmelyn province, the gargantuan fortress of a city looked like a place of legends, the stone walls far to tall and wide to be the work of mere mortals. To the Barnevile youth, Nexus seemed like the work of gods or at least primeval giants of the remote past.
As he approached the gate, he readied his visa, and nervously handed it to the youngest guard. Kerni took it unceremoniously and begun to inspect it, taking a few dry looks at the tall strong and seemingly clueless human in front of him.
"This looks fine, but I still need to take a look at that for a moment if you don't mind."
The guard had pointed at Duncan's back, and it was obvious what 'that' was. With some hesitation, Duncan untied the leather belt and then carefully unpacked the bundle in which Fang rested. After that, he handed the old claymore sword to the guards with slow reverence for the tired blade. He also took his hunting knife from the belt at his waist, held it from the blade side and handled the hilt to the Warrow boy.
"I hope it is all alright. I am here to start a military career and the blade is an heirloom from my fath.."
"The big blade looks like good craftsmanship, a pity it is so old, the edge is all dull also" - Commented Konnor to his partner, completely ignoring Duncan's ramblings.
"Yeah, blade's a has-been, and the knife is rather worn out, but unlike the sword this was never a good one if ye' ask me" - Added Kerni - "Don't reckon farmer boy is going to cause any trouble with either inside. Ok, you may take them both and pass" - Finished the guard, once again talking to Duncan.
The Barnevile son was at first surprised by the 'farmer boy' comment, but then figured that with the clothes he wore it was an easy guess. He took back his visa and quickly stored again both weapons as he entered Nexus Prime, it seemed like a whole new big wide world awaited inside those gates.

Time Stamp: 2nd cycle of Imperos, in the Season of Autumn, Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum.
Treant walked up to the gates amazed at the security protocol these guards were taking. Nothing seemed to slip by them. "Hmmm I best be on my behavior."Treant thought. Behaving was a rarity for the gnome.
He was dressed in his normal garb of black pants and brown cloak...sooner or later he would have to get a better outfit.
As Treant got closer to the gates he notcied how people were showing their weapons to the guards as a courtesy. "Serale, I am Treant,"The gnome stated showing his visa. "I am here to explore your city and watch the battles in the might colleseum, and perhaps compete myself." The two and a half foot tall gnome said talking with his hands. "I am carrying weapons."The gnome said showing his short sword and daggers.
If all is well Treant will proceed to the colleseum, perhaps there he could fing a fighter to teach him Tessared-Tohiba.

Felina had spent some time in the city, but she was thinking of moving on to other things. There is only so much bread making I can stand after all... She thought as she passed through the gates with a few things with her, but not much. It was almost like when she had entered the city, but this time she didn't have a deed or an idea of what she was doing. Maybe I will just see the world... She thought, like many young people think. She began to walk and let her paws lead her.

From afar the Aedile of Imperia beheld the sight of the vast city of Nexus Prime. It towered like a stoic sentinel holding guard over the surrounding landscape, growing in intricate detail and consuming more of Eraisuithon's field of vision as he approached the great bastion of Arium's power on the mount of his stallion, Mor'nar. He had never set foot within it's great walls before, not in his one hundred and twenty nine eras of life, but he was aware of certain organizations inside that would aid him in his business plans.
At the gates he paid a moment to examine the great piece of architecture clearly elven for the way that it was designed and fashioned before turning his sights towards the gate guard. The raven haired Syl'rosyan withdrew a piece of worn parchment- his visa, and presented it to the man below him. "Eraisuithon Nan'tathren is my name, as my visa states, and I am here on personal business. I seek the moneylenders guild- can you tell me where they are?"
The elf carefully noted the information, and passed through gates wrought by the ancient hands of his people.

Abandoned as a baby this boy has never had a normal life. After spending the first years of his life in the gutter he has never been good at socialising with anyone. At the age of ten he worked out how to get out of the sewer and learnt how to steal and hide. At thirteen he was caught stealing a very valuable jewel from a store. As the guards came in he pulled out a rusted dagger (an item he found in the sewers) and slew the guard.
After that he found others like him, killers, rejects and learnt how to be an expert killer. Donned in a black robed etched in red with gold runes all over it he has travelled around the city stealing what he wants and killing whoever he pleases. He has never found if his parents are alive or has even bothered finding out what his real name is. As such the people of nexus prime have named him the shadow. For a large enough price he sometimes help the city guard repell attackers.

Just squeaking in 'ere, pretty much nothing to claim but a dagger & whatnot, visa is there too however, as long as he's just asked for his visa he doesn't talk to the guards at the gate any more than he needs to before moving on.

Unsure Entrance
Season of Spring
Era I of the Celestine Mandate
Era XV Post Fractum
Month of: Cyxatum
Brightening: Solaria
Mid-Morning
With her daughter walking next to her Zokia Zora was determined to not allow her fright to show, especially upon her Esh'lahier face. Her strength she needed to display and instill into her only child since she was left to be the one to raise her. Zo didn't wish Kaiota to be weak in any manner. Thus far her hand has made her strong.
Inwardly however the female found that her stomach was a mess. If she could find a place to break down, away from her daughter's eyes, she would but for now she needed to be strong and unwavering as they entered into the city gates of Nexus Prime.
Once amongst the guards Zo showed her Visa. The time of brightening brought with her a lull in the amount of people that were longing to gain access to the city. But for the female she was given just a tad bit of a hard time since she was clearly Esh, unmistakably.
After a while she was allowed to enter, mostly due to the fact that her daughter was not full blooded Esh. If it wasn't for her surely she would have been occupied just a little bit longer, possibly over night. Who knew? Either way that didn't matter now though. Eagerly Zo was on her way, if only to distance herself from the prying eyes that watched the pair enter.
