Negotiations with Cass'dae (Cassidy, Private)

Outside the Thanal manor, a beautiful carriage could be seen approaching. Nobody knew exactly where it had come from, because usually the person who was now visiting Cassidy kept a low profile, but for once he, the person who was approaching, was actually doing something noticeable. Furthermore, he himself had plans, plans that Cassidy would be wise to consider, though he knew that in the end, she had the most power in what happened within New Coldmoon. Thus, he approached the guards with a few personal guards of his own, though he did order his own guards to stand down and go back to guard the carriage. Nobody could hear the words that were exchanged between the guards and the wealthily clothed man, who was charming in his appearance.

It wasn't before long though, that Cassidy heard a knock on her bedroom door, a voice presented itself as Minuel "Serale Lady Cassidy Al'lende, a wealthy merchant wishes to have an audience with thee. It concerns New Coldmoon, or so he says, shall I lead him to the Salon milady?" Of course, it could be that Cassidy wasn't even in her room and so Minuel would have to find her first, not an easy feat in such a large manor.

Cassidy, who had luckily just entered her chambers, looked up, rather startled at the knock at her door. Her lips pressed together curiously as she listened to his explanation. "Hmm..." She pondered aloud, but not nearly as loud for Minuel to hear her. "Whomever could it be?" Gracefully floating to her closet, she opened the finely engraved armour door and stared at her countless gowns and dresses. Minuel had probably left, thinking she not there, but several seconds later; with a absent voice she muttered, "I'll be down." Strolling to the bell, that connected to the servent's quarters, she rang it quite loudly and went to her bathing room.

Several seconds later, four maids came rushing into her room, about the ages of ten and six, smiling proudly to be in the presence of such a noble. It seemed they thought her demands were compliments. Cassidy sighed and ran a hand through gelded curls. "Quickly wench, choose me a fine gown that will be appropriate for such a call." Cassidy snapped at a brunette, with large brown eyes. And the young woman fled to her closets, admiring each gown to its fullest. Another maid sponged Cassidy's arms and legs, another sprayed rose water on her, and another started to comb Cassidy's glossy locks.

Now feeling rejuvinated and fresh, Cassidy stared at her reflection in the mirror and smiled smugly. Her feet were in ivory slippers, her curves hugged wonderfully in a snug forest green gown. Her bodice swept across and revealed the tops of young, full breasts, the color of creamy milk. Her hair was pulled in a sweet entanglement of braids and curls, twisting and swirling along the slender nape of her neck. Her lips were rouged and she was on her way.

Passing through the several halls and corridors of the East wing, she finally reached the Salon. Walking with confidence of a lovely dove, she cascaded through the room, closing the door quietly behind her, turning to face the man who called for her presence.

Minuel, not having gotten a suitable response from Lady Cassidy, decided to go off to look for her. Afterall, she would typically announce her leaving the manor with much fanfare, so there was good reason to believe her to be still within the large 'palace' somewhere. The man who waited was patient, as any person would have to be in the company of nobility. After Cassidy was done preparing herself with the help of her four maids, she met Minuel walking through one of the halls, also towards the Salon.

"Ah, serale Arctrina Cassidy, I see you must have recieved the message of our visitor, considering the way you are dressed. Please, allow me to accompany you to the salon." He did not dare to extend a hand or an arm, for if Cassidy desired help to walk, then she would say it, all Minuel was asking was whether she needed company during her walk, no more and no less.

When they, or she as it could turn out to be, arrived at the salon, the wealthy and good looking merchant stood in his fancy silk suit, admiring the walls. Apparantly, he had once been in the military, though not for long, considering the badge he had. It was hard to tell exactly what it represented, but it seemed to have some sort of connection to the military in one way or another. "Ah, serale lady Cassidy, it pleases me that you have this instant to speak with me, I hope I am not taking too much of your time, but I desire to speak concerning some of the laws specific to New Coldmoon and also whether you would be willing to sacrifice some more of your precious time in order to take part in the opening of a coliseum that is nearing completion. Do you desire to hear more or shall I leave already?" His eyes showed trust and his straight hair had recently been cut short, though not cropped.

The elegant elven woman slowly slithered towards her desk, running a nail along its perimeter. She listened to him, not saying a word. He was seated, and she was standing beside his desk, her posture incredible, her head raised proudly… Even after he finished speaking, she sighed, showing slight annoyance.

“I wish for anyone who wishes the best for our lovely city to speak with me, indeed.” She paused, her eyes drawing him in. “However, before we do anything, could I not at least have your name?” Her lips pursed, Cassidy smiled at him flirtatiously, perhaps this was why many believed women shouldn’t have a political place…that never stopped Lady Al’lende, though.

Cassidy studied the handsome man, and instantly her eyes twinkled merrily, her lips twisted in a confident, wicked and utterly sinful smile. “Oh, there’s much that I desire, good lord.” She sent him a meaningful, measured stare. “I’m not sure if your presence is part of it, but I’m not displeased so far.” And with that she grinned, finding her seat at her booming, oaken desk. Settling inside it, she crossed long legs, and listened patiently. As he spoke of the coliseum, her eyes widened. “Oh, how splendid,” She murmured, almost in a monotone, “There is so very much happening in New Coldmoon right now, I suppose that and the Coliseum would help drawing people from the Empire here, don’t you think?”

She sent him a half smile and looked down at well manicured nails, placed them in her petite lap and continued to speak. “There are some questions, however. How long until the coliseum is actually completed? When would you need my presence?” She waved him off, “Do not cease talking, my lord-” Cass’dea licked her lips, “I’m very interested, aren’t you?” And with that, she tilted her head, locks of gold twirling about her slender nape.

ooc: I think Roland Moonstar is somewhat of a hero somewhere, isn't he?

"Of course your..." He seemed to struggle to remember the proper way to address a thane "...excellency? My name is Richard Moonstar, and no, I have no bloodline linking to the ever-famous Roland Moonstar." He sat down as well, following Cassidy's example and he didn't seem to particular mind Cassdae's flirtatious nature, on the contrary, he was being very respectful about it; he was enjoying it, thereby making Cassidy feel wanted, and not giving in to it, thereby respecting Cassidy's position as a thane and as a lady.

He nodded at Cassidy's remark of interest in the subject and continued "The Coliseum should be finished before the spring festival and your thanely presence would be needed at the spring festival itself, which is informally and apparantly also formally in this city, the eleventh brightening this month." Having answered Cassidy's questions, there only remained his own ideas to voice. He expected more questions, but was prepared to answer them after having talked about his propositions.

"It has come to my attention, through my study of New Coldmoon, that often times, it is due to the fact that people are allowed to carry arms and weapons, that riots and battles turn as bloody as they do." He paused for a while, he knew that Cassidy didn't want riots in her city. "Considering this, we could lessen the effects of riots by restricting weapons to certain kind of people, the kind of people that actually Need weapons. Some might argue that nobody needs weapons or that everybody needs weapons, But! I believe that the common citizen doesn't need weapons and that your common guard needs one." He tried to rephrase himself.

"See, what I mean is, why allow every person out there on the streets to arm themselves in fear and paranoia? The real problem is that they fear that their neighbour is a thief or murderer and can easily get his hands on a weapon, so they get their hands on a weapon and everybody fears them... it's a vicious circle. If we prohibited weapons from people, then only guards and unlawful people would have them, thus reducing fear and your common citizen could rely on the guards to save them. We have some very good guards around here afterall." He paused for a while and then came with his final comment. "Of course, there's more to this than what i've said, but how does this sound to you?"

Cassidy's eyes raised, [i]Roland Moonstar?[/b] She shrugged, and recalled inviting the man to her ball...he was popular, and entwined in social circles...she hated those types of relationships. She listened to him, and was suprised to hear about weapon talk. "Ah, I agree with you, my lord...The guards certainly do...and I've noticed after...several riots, that the mere weapon causes things to get worse. The problem is sir, that eliminating the weapon will not banish the rebellions...Surely they'll find other things to fight with." Her nose wrinkled, "It is just awful," She replied softly, staring at a diamond statue on her desk.

"Hmm." She wondered quietly, studying the man in front of her. "That is something to consider, but like I said...the people will find other things to fight with...why I cannot take away their working supplies, in case they might have an urge to use it as a destructive tool."

Uncrossing her legs and gracefully sweeping to her feet, she paced across towards her bookstand, letting her fingers trail over the old bindings of several volumes. "Another problem with your idea is that, if they don't use something they have...illegal crafting of weapons would be happening, and that cannot be controlled always.."

She turned, gelded locks bouncing and sapphire eyes twinkling with life. "Nonetheless," she started, lips pouting slightly, "It is a productive notion." And she flashed a half smile, pearly white teeth gleaming.

"While it is true that they would find other things to fight with, they will have to find them first and that might be enough to discourage many people from using weapons in a riot. I believe the primary thing we need to ensure if this is to work is that the people need to feel that the have no need for weapons. Secondly, we must teach those that do own weapons how to properly use them, so that they don't start using them against their fellow citizens. Of course, it is up to your grace to decide what is considered a weapon and what is considered a tool. If you're worried about illegal trade, then your grace might consider a military campaign against such things?" He stood still, observing Cassidy "If your grace does decide that something could be done about these weapons, then might I suggest we take it all out in one strike, if possible?"

He then suddenly remembered one last major problem "Oh yes, and does your grace have any suggestions as to how we handle visitors with weapons?" Again, he stood still, regal, almost in a military stance. He did try to look convincing though, by tilting his head slightly, depending on where Cassidy was when he was saying something.

Cassidy stared at her manicured nails curiously, pausing and listening to his words. "Visitors..." She murmured, then replied simply, "Well it depends on the length of their stay...if it is for religious reasons, which is the cause of a lot of our visitors, they'll need no weapons...why would they? So perhaps the city gates could store them...would that work properly?" Her shoulders raised in a shrug, "I hear men are very protective over their weapons..." She laughed and leveled her icy blue eyes to his,

"They treat them like their women."

Grinning, she continued, "I like it. I think it's a fabulous idea. Of course I'll need to bring this up to the churches and other congregations to see if they have any objections... I see that it's flawless however."

Sighing, she continued softly, "The guards will be trained...if anyoen uses their weapons improperly against a citizen (Which I'm sure might happen), their own weapons will be banished."

He smiled at the semi-joke that Cassidy made while speaking, it could have been a full joke, had some men not really been as protective about their weapons as Cassidy was saying. Sometimes, they probably even treated their weapons better than women, and women were clealry more important than their weapons, so far as any reasonable man could see. He finished off with a small speech "In that case, although it will be a bumpy ride, then I cannot help your grace any longer. As you will have to write the law so that people are satisfied, I suggest that you avoid taking away the livelihood of people, both smiths and hunters. As it is only inside city that we are worried about people bearing arms, perhaps people could place an order at the weaponsmith and then pick up their weapon at the gates in the same place that we will store all weapons? I trust that as Lady Protectress, your grace will handle this matter with some care, for some may react violently to their so-called 'defensive' weapons being taken away. One can never please everyone afterall, so just try to please as many as possible."

"Well then your grace, I have enjoyed your grace's time and I am certain that you will be able to write the law in a satisfactory manner. I have nothing to discuss with your grace anymore, so if your grace has anything to say, say it now, for I will be leaving." He was prepared to leave and prepared to stay, it was all up to Cassidy. She was still left with the job to write the law though, whatever option she picked, for she was the lady protectress and it was her duty to manage the city, including the writing of laws. She had people to help her of course, so if she didn't want to figure out all the complicated stuff about writing the laws, then there was probably somebody in the manor who knew something about that.

Cassidy pursed her lips sadly. “Oh, you have to depart, how…” She searched for the word, and at a loss for finding one, sighed, “saddening.” She dismissed the thought and leaned forward, an ample amount of her cleavage being revealed. “In that case, I think we are finished.” Placing both dainty hands on her desk, she stood, and curtsied.

She talked, though she wasn’t looking at him when she rang the bell that was nearly attached to her desk, calling for servants. “I am offering my hospitality if you are in need of a place to stay this night,” her tone was still of business, “For it might be late to leave, unless you’d like to ride your horses through the night.” She shrugged, “Do what you wish, good lord.”

She had to talk to Minuel about the laws that were going to be created…why; everything was so tiring in this city. No one was ever happy.
