Ranger Festival: Horseback Archery
The Horseback Archery tournament was about to begin. There were a total of four competitors, each were given 10 arrows with an assigned colored fletchers.
Which are
Demant : position # 1, red fletchers. Quantaos: position # 2, yellow fletchers. Synrei : position # 3, green fletchers. Tev : position # 4, brown fletchers
The judge was standing on a raised platform. Archers give me your ear. As you see there are three target for you to hit on your pass, you will start at the flag to your left , this flag was placed in the ground about 30 feet into a wooded path. When you pass the second flag, located 35 feet from the first flag you may string your first shot. At a full out run you have one pass to get off all three shots at the three targets, one per each obviously.
Points are scored as follows. The outside blue ring is worth 1 point, the white ring inside the blue is worth 5 points and the red bull in the middle is worth 15 points. You will have three passes total, and you’ll take your best score.
In the case of a tie, there will be one more pass with one shot, and the closest to the center of the bull wins. Good luck to you all. First rider please take your position and I will drop this flag signaling you to start your run.

Grinning, Demant spurred his horse to a slight gallop over to the flag. Archery was his strong suit, however horse back riding was night. It was almost bittersweet, and it would be interesting to see how it turned out. Rubbing his black horse on its mane, he leaned over, "C'mon, don't let me down when I need you. For the glory of us both...Perhaps if you perform well for me, we will see about some treats and grooming." Leaning back upright, he sat smuggly in the saddle, his custom ranger shortbow in his hand, which also grabbed onto the reigns.

Tev mounts his horse and pats the side of Zuni's neck.
With bow in hand and his quiver hanging from his belt, Tev watches the others as he waits his turn.
He leans forward and talks to Zuni.

OOC: Again, No order just post. The position is more for the crowd to know who is who. There will be a billboard of sorts to show everyone the position as well as scores of the competitors.
We will play it as you all went in oder, but I don't want you all to wait until your turn, that would take to long.

Demant spurred his horse, readying for a full out charge. Letting out a loud cry, he used the reigns to direct his horse in the direction of the second flag. Leaning low to his horse, he peered over its mane, scanning to see the flag and the target which followed. He wanted to be prepared for the approach. Nearing the second flag, the dark elf would let go of the reigns and attempt to find a center of balance by leaning low as he was.

With War Bow in one hand, arrow in the other, Tev uses his knees to guide Zuni, and his heels to spur him to a gallop at the first flag, headed for the second flag. At the second flag he nocks the arrow that was in his hand, aims at the target and releases the arrow.
He quickly draws another arrow from the quiver hanging from his belt, nocks it, takes aim and snaps another shot.
With another rapid motion, the Ranger extracts a third arrow, nocks it, aims and shoots.
Tev relaxes his legs, causing Zuni to slow his pace. The Ranger looks to see where the arrows landed as Zuni lopes off the course.

Demant
Demant stands ready at the starting position, the judge drops the flag and he begins his pass. As he passed the second flag he let go of the reigns, he finds his center of balance and is ready to take his shots.
Tev
Tev starts his pass as the judge drops the flag. As he approached the second flag he readies his equipment, one, two, and three arrows are let go. All hit the mark, the first is a bull, the second is a bull, and the third strikes the white. And excellent run with a total score of 35.
The crowd lets out a large roar of cheers, they have come to see the best of the best and they graciously gave their approval of a good run.

As with the archery contest, he followed his normal procedure of drowning out his surroundings as trained. It was the only way he was accustomed to, and it was the only way that worked. His arrow notched onto his custom designed short bow, he slowed down time within his head again. Freezing the current moment, he pulled back the arrow all the way. To make up for the movement forward, he shifted the target back towards him in his mind. Now aiming at the imaginary target, he took aim at the bull's eye and allowed for a slight arc, firing in between a heart beat.

Tev looks at the results of his first run. Two bullseyes at a run are good, but an opponent might get three. Perhaps he might grip a bit tighter with his legs, thus being more steady in the saddle.
Once again, with Warbow in one hand and an arrow in the other, he taps Zuni's sides with his feet, urging him to a gallop as they approach the first flag. At the second flag, Tev nocks an arrow, aims and releases the arrow. Quickly he takes another arrow from the quiver hanging on his belt. He nocks it, aims and shoots. The third arrow is drawn, nocked and fired at the last target.
He eases his legs, signalling Zuni to slow down.

Demant
Demant’s training prevailed as the three arrows it the target. The first was a bull, the second hit the white, and the third was a bull. Score 35.
Again the crowd cheers loudly as the score is posted.
Tev
The one thing that must be considered in any horseback competition is; with every pass soil is removed and ruts appear. It really isn’t the blame of the Archer or the Horse, but each pass will be slightly different. Tev’s adjustments served him well, but the soil didn’t this time his score was 25, one bull two whites. No change was made to the scoreboard since his first run had a higher score.

OOC: I'm going to be nice and pretend I didn't read that about the deviations in the ground
IC: Snickering at his tying score with Tev, Demant was anxious to go for his second run, but he needed to take a breath and take himself out of the game for now. Relaxing, he would play this next run as if the competition had just started, fresh and ready to go. Upon his horse, he trotted back over to the starting line. When given the signal, he beckoned his horse to charge into a gallop. As he got to the second flag, he strung his bow as before, however, he would repeat the process over and over again within his mind before he reached the next target that way to remind himself incase his form began to deteriorate over the course of the run.

His final chance to improve his score, Tev mulls over the problem with Zuni's footing. He pats the horse and whispers reassuring remarks to him. Zuni has served as a sure footed mount. Tapping Zuni's sides with his heels, the Ranger gets to the first flag at a gallop, an arrow in one hand and the War Bow in the other. He glances at the turf beyond the second flag.
At the second flag he nocks an arrow, aims and shoots at the first target. Quickly getting a second arrow, Tev nocks it, aims and shoots at the next target. Finally, the last arrow is nocked, aimed and flies off toward the target.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Tev eases his legs and pats Zuni's neck.

Quan mounts up onto the back of Celequin, a trusted mare who has been with the moriquendi for some time. The dark elf watches the progress of the other two before making his run, with a gentle urging of his knees Celequin jolts into a gallop. The ranger calms his breathing, raises his bow and arrow towards the first target, and settles into the rythm of his horses galloping. As he draws close enough the dark elf lets loose his arrow at the first target, having drawn the bow string back to his ear.
The dark ranger quickly nocked another arrow to his bow and brought the string back to his ear as he sighted down the shaft once more. The dark elf fell into the rythm quickly and placed the arrow to hit the target, compensating for the resistance it would meet from Celequin. After firing at the second target Quan quickly repeated this process with the last target.

Demant’s Second pass produces the same score. One white two bulls.
Tev’s Third and last pass was his best yet he scored three bulls securing his advancement to the next round.
Quan’s first pass scored 25 One bull two whites.
