Address to the People of Mystique (All Welcome)

Fourth Brightening of the Month of Cryxatum, Season of Summer of the Fourteenth Era Post Fractum

The brightening was gray with a low, overcast sky. The clouds seemed almost intrusive as they loomed overhead threatening rain and seemingly adding weight to every person who ventured from their cozy shelter. The town square had been cordoned off in order to set up a wooden platform about five feet from the ground. It had apparently been set up in the very early candlemarks as when the first citizens flowed through the city to begin their typical morning rituals, it was set up without a trace of who had done the work. They moved along without paying too much mind to it.

Rumors were currently flying from ear to ear about the Governor. Lady Anda had seemed so successful and there was no hint of trouble, but something had occurred and the Kingdom of Lauryl was without her presence. Some were saying she was kidnapped and taking for a hostage, others had spread stories about her childhood saying that her mother used to beat her every brightening growing up causing her to find young girls and do the same for vengeance. Young boys, calling themselves men, insisted that they were actually the one who took her and made love to her in the midst of the night while she was away from the Palace. The thought of returning was too much for Anda and she abandoned the city and the Kingdom.

Regardless of what rumor was heard that candlemark, the truth was that she was missing. Something had happened to the Lady Anda and to be sure, nobody really knew what. As the dark clouds rumbled on throughout the early part of the brightening, people started to gather around the small stage to wait for the announcement they knew would come. Some people were whispering in ears, others were praying, still others were laughing and joking. They carried on until a man approached the stairs and climbed them. Facing the audience with a solemn face, he waited for silence to fall over the crowd.

"Serale, citizens of Mystique. I am the Exchequer of our Kingdom of Lauryl, Frederick Taburno." The man was roughtly thirty with the beginning signs of gray hairs salting his dominant black locks. He stood still with his hands cupping each other in front of him as he looked over the scores of eyes watching him expectedly. "I bring news of our Governor, Lady Andavariel. She has been found," he was cut off by cheering and laughs and a general uproar from those gathered. He raised a hand in the air for silence before continuing. "However, she is not in the best of shape right now."

Whispers and mummerings were quickly overruled by the Exchequer's voice, "She is being taken to Aelyria Prime where she will stay in a ward until her condition strengthens. She has been unable to perform her job as her mental capacity to discharge her duties has been questionable as of late. We do not feel that she is in any danger physically, but she is no longer the Governor of the Kingdom of Lauryl."

Clearing his throat, Frederick Taburno continued, "I will take over interim duty as Governor until His Excellency appoints a permanent Governor to take her place. This process may take a while, but be sure that it is at the top of the Regent's business. Be understanding as things change and look forward with hope for the future. The Kingdom and Mystique will continue on strongly, though we will all miss Lady Anda. I ask that you pray for her health and please feel free to voice your concerns as usual in this time of change. I will answer a few questions now, if anybody has them."

Taburno smiled for the first time during his speech as he looked out at the sea of faces still staring at him. Blank stares and piercing gazes were cast up to the stage as he waited for anybody with questions or concerns to speak up.

Ebram was dressed in white pants and shirt, with a golden vest arrived at the meeting on horseback. He hard heard about some offical meeting and was there as a represenative of the house de Lylles. Around his neck was the chain that held a ring markng him as house de Lylles. His curly blound hair was the only part of his head that showed beneath the blue hooded cloack. His stallion pawed the ground, giving him a little more room in the crowd. Admitadly so did the two guards who had accompanied him.

He hadn't actually heard about the Lady Anda, and so had only come into town during the time of her absents. He remained quiet listening to the man speak. He smiled as the crowd cheered about discovery of Lady Anda.

He didn't say much beyond that. Just watched. He actually did have some questions, but they were really for here or now. Moving the horse around the crowd so that he would be able to catch the inturm governor before he got away, but after he was done with his speach.

Ouoo had been wondering what had been going on and why no one had aproched her over the proper paperwork to allow the assebly sinc she was teh only person currently working in the aediles office. Well that was not relly such a big deal as it was a minor fee and would have gon directly back into the cities treasury anyway. She took out her portable scribs kit that she had carried from the office since it was part of her duties now to do inspections of certain buildings . Most noteably this day she was inspecting the new building that the city had just baugh from the Gil'dea family for reseale. she promptly scribed a note and passed it up to the Exchequer Frederick Taburno.

Secrets :
My Dear Inerm Lord Govenor of Mystique,
I am Ouoo'Graw from the local aediles office and would like to request a meeting with you about a promotion at your earliest opertunity. Thank you for your time.

Your Servant;
Ouoo'Graw

She then waited around for the crowd to disperse. This of course gave the Lord Govenor a chance to respond to her if he so chose.

Even here, in a city so close to Ethgan’tor, the way of life was so incredibly different than that the Esh’lahier cherished. Tiyribi had followed the crowd toward the speaker out of habit more than actual interest. She had fallen out of knowledge of Aelyrian politics due to her eras of darkness, and now, though a small spark of interest still flamed, the Esh’lahier had little energy to reenter the foray of the political arena.

And yet…the story seemed all too familiar, the Pale Elf mused as she listened to the Lord Exchequer. Was such a speech given to the citizens of Centripax when Tiyribi herself had lost her ability to conduct her office of Governor? A half-smile crossed the alabaster face, both out of amusement at the irony as well as pity for the Lady Andavariel.

The Gods were not kind, but neither were mortals. To be put in a position between the two realms – Eternal and Material Planes – was to ask for Fate to twist and destroy one’s very soul.

And yet…

Perhaps not now. The violet eyes glanced over the crowd. Perhaps not now.

The Lord Exchequer and current Governor of the Kingdom of Lauryl descended the stairs after fielding very brief and relatively pointless questions. Upon his taking leave, the rumor mill started turning as the people who had gathered argued over this and that- some conversations already drifting from the subject just discussed.

At the foot of the short stair case, a familiar face found him. With parchment in hand, the aedile said nothing and seemed to wait patiently for space and time to discuss this matter with Frederick Taburno. From his accounts he could recall at the instant, Ouoo'Graw carried a good record of duty and her interest in promotion did not completely catch him off guard. "Please, come see me later this brightening at the thanal palace." He smiled politely and moved on, only to find another citizen attempting to get his attention.

The mounted elf clad in white approached Lord Taburno calmly. With another smile, he lifted his gaze and asked, "Is there anything I can help you with, sir?" The question was sincere though his exhausted smile may not have shown it.

Ouoo gave The Lord Exchequer a polite courtsey. Her white fur glinting in the sun as her dress rustled agaiunst the stones on which she stood. Her unsettling pink eyes watched him with the look of a preditor sizing up it's prey. not that she was actually doing so it was simply a natural state for her eyes. She was feeling good about this her career was finally gong places.

"As you wish, Lord Taburno. I will see you later this day."

After his attention left her she then rose and carefully made her way out of the crowd and then she headed for the thanal manor as she was requested to do. The Office was normlly slow and this being a government meeting she had left out a sign that had said so. still she stopped by teh office to make sure there was no one waiting for her before she headed to her meeting with the new head of the local government.

Anna Brodie is an upstanding Citizen
She had followed the crowds to the town square, carried along by the voices of those gossiping about what might be told. There was little interest in her heart in affairs of government or the goings on of a city, yet there was still the natural curiosity roused in any person when people gather in large numbers. Keeping herself slightly apart, Anna lingered at the back of the throng, her head turning every now and then to different conversations which caught her ear. Finally as a man climbed the stairs and the crowd fell silent, she slipped to the side to lean against the wall of one of the buildings lining the town square, and pulled her cloak about her against the chill of the overcast brightening.

It was interesting to observe the crowd’s reactions. Cheers and then murmurings. Anna knew nothing of Lady Andavariel yet it was obvious that the Governor was well liked. The man who spoke, Lord Taburno, seemed a competent enough official, able to hold the crowd’s attention and speaking with confidence. Handsome enough, Anna judged, to catch the fancy of women with wandering eyes and inattentive husbands. As he came to an end and waited for questions, she scanned the crowd to see if any would speak. Some young elf on a horse passed her by as they circumvented the crowd to make their way to the platform. Anna glanced at the youth for a bare second before seeing a distinctive looking dorin pass a note upwards to the Exchequer. Vague remembrances of having seen the dorin before stirred, before floating away. Finally she looked over the crowd once more, before pushing herself off the wall to make her way back to the stables where she worked. For a brief moment, her ice blue eyes met a violet pair and held the gaze for a second before Anna blinked and moved on.

Someone had been Governor. Now someone else would be. Life goes on.

OOC: Just marking Anna's presence for the speech

Ebramsom slipped off of his horse and walked over towards the acting governor. He bowed his head in greating and then spoke. "Serale, your Excellency, I am Ebramsom de Lylles, and I just wished to speak with you about the condition of the province and see in what way the house de Lylles and myself can help."

The Lord Exchequer smiled at Ebramsom and nodded. "It warms me to know of your House's commitment to the Kingdom of Lauryl young sir. Though I cannot think immediately of what sort of business I could ask of you, I do wish to know of anything I can do for you. I must admit that I have been somewhat ill informed of the current happenings with House de'Lylles and I do intend to rectify that situation. Perhaps you would like to meet some time? Or would a formal meeting be too much trouble?" Though obviously in a hurry to move on to his next appointment, it was nothing but sincerity for Lord Taburno to stop and address the concerns of his people and those who give so much to aid their great city and kingdom.

Soas is unknown and forgotten
A sleak Jagara entered the area dressed from head to tow in flat black clothes and black fur that shined so dark in was almost a blue. His eyes were just as black as well. It was as if the night sky had given a piece of its essence to shrouded that feline in the dark, yet here he was in plain day. He entered as the people were asking questions to the speaker. He did not hear the address, but from the people milling around discussing it he summarized there would be a new leader of the city. He looked at the marvelous place with a child's eye. Surely he would not forget how to come back this way. He decided to raise his voice with a question.

Pardon the interruption of this feline faupaw , His smooth smoky voice rang out but how will this affect those that have just entered the city and are looking for training and employment? Tis a matter of concern.

Ebram thought for a moment and then nodded his head. "A meeting would be fine." Ebram said. "Would a cycle from this brightning be okay about the same time?"
