Town Square Park

[Tolbin]

Situated directly in the middle of town between the Thane and Governor's Palaces was the Town Square Park, Mystique's largest recreational area.

The park was always very busy. An open-air market was situated on the street where, for a small tax to the Aedile, vendors and merchants traded from far-off places. Here could be purchased loads of junk from pottery to small blades of varying craftsmanship to even livestock. Above all the noise and smoke and tents could be smelled the savory (or not-so savory) aromas of exotic foods. All could be sampled if one was brave enough and had the money to do so.

Patrolling the market for bandits, thieves, and pickpockets were several of Mystique's finest - guards carrying finely etched partisans capable of dicing a person in seconds. A smallish carnival was also set up which included a man who ate and breathed fire, a lady with a beard who could sleep on nails, a snake charmer, and a performing freak-child who as the saying went was semi-reptile.

Beyond the market to the south and occupying the largest portion of the park was a small coniferous forested area kept up by the local druids' academy. This area was considerably quieter than the market. Here, one could come to watch nature without leaving the safety of the city's walls. Chipmunks and squirrels chased one another and birds of all colors flew past. Throughout this part of the park were set up benches for resting, reading, or feeding the animals, which always appreciated a bite to eat. It was possible to find a druidic or two working within the park at any given time.

A large pond occupied the center of the forest. Here, the activity picked up on a clear day. A small marina was set up to rent boats for rowing across the pond and a small, shallow section was corded off where children could splash around and swim. Fishing was also possible here, though the water did not house many fish to be caught.

OOC: Tolbin, Im an ancient Alyerian, I've been poking around Alyeria since before the 2000's. However, I haven't played in a year or so, but I've been around Mystique since that time. So be gentle with me, as rules have changed since I've posted

IC: It wasn't like the elf to simply enjoy himself, but having been all over Alyeria since his journeyman training was completed, he forgot what enjoyment was. Aladamis had much to be grateful for: he was back in Mystique for starters. When he left he was an elf who had seldom been far from his home outside Mystique deep within the forest. The forest and Mystique had been his only exposure to the world! It was like eating only crusted bread and cheese, when pastries and delicious fruits and vegetables were just a few paces away. As a journeyman, Aladamis had traveled nearly the entire empire. His world view was widened, however its after you've tasted things too sweet for your palate, that you really begin to appreciate the nostalgic familarity of bread and cheese. Home. The elf was finally home. No more running and hiding when things got out of hand (the elf had spent several cycles running from Ogres), or anything like that.

Aladamis stretched his back, his dark green cloak rustling in the light breeze. His black clothing was worn with travel, he would still be carrying his pack, but he had dropped it off at his home before hand. Aladamis was not even sure what day it was! He searched around to hear what was current in the news, and although embarassing, what the date was. The elf had by his side only his silver tipped short blade. Aladamis made his way towards the Market side of the park, to find some answers.

The youth of the de Lylles had taken time to start visiting Mystique. It was a strange city. Forested, and beautiful, the Crystallium city was a jewel at the edge of the Empire. This was his first time visiting the Town Square park. It was a nice place filled with life. Something that Ebram appreciated. His blood hair framed his face, but today he had pushed it back to allow for better view. He green eyes lookd at the world around him witha clear vision.

He paused as he noticed a fellow elf walking the park as well. He appeared slightly lost, so it was that the youth approached him. "Serale good Sir. Is their something I can help you with."

Seeing the elf approach, Aladamis was glad that his desire was being graciously delivered to him. An elf he had never seen before, came towards him as they both were moseying through the beautiful gardens.

Then Aladamis heard the elf's words, and was very glad he was spared the task of opening up conversation. "Serale," he spoke in return, " Actually there is. I just arrived in Mystique for the first time in what seems like ages. You see, I was recently promoted to the status of Adept Druid, and I spent the last several eras traveling the entire empire. I grew up right outside of Mystique, in a home in the forest. I am now done with my travels, and I am trying to readjust to city life for a change. I don't even seem to know what day today is. I'm kind of out of the loop politically as well. I know you didn't ask for a long story, do you mind filling me in?"

The elf felt ridiculous. Anyone would at least know the date! He must remember never to go on era long adventures without a calender again.

"My name is Aladamis Portentus, by the way, and you sir?"

bram smiled and nodded his head listening. He had been across the empire him self a number of times in the previous eras. Now admitadly not in the same way as the druid before him. "As to your frist question. It is currently Cryxatum 6." He said with nodded of his head. "Politically, well the Lady Governor vanished but was later discovered and has resigned for medical reasons. So the province has an interm governor until such time as the Regent appoints a new one."

"It is a pleasure to meet you Aladamis Portentus." The youth said. "I am Ebramsom de Lylles, or Ebram for short." He contiuned. "So where have you visited this past era."

The elf was at a moment which he felt completely out of place. How dare he ask a favor from a stranger, especially someone from the de Lylles family! However Aladamis was more embarrassed than mad at himself. However, he was totally unschooled in how to properly address a family member of the de Lylles family. However, Ebramsom did seem young, so perhaps he would be gracious to him if he made a mistake with titles or whatnot.

However, luckily that was all in his head. From the outside the elf did not even seem to flinch, although he was quite anxious inwardly. Whether or not it was a mistake, the elf bowed his head a bit to Ebramson, and addressed him, "Your Grace, I apologize for not addressing you properly before, I just didn't know who you were." The elf's head streightened as he began to answer the young elf's question. "I have been all around Carmelya, Prime, Centripax, and Iefferon. Mostly in the wilderness, studying and taking sample of plants I can use in spells or in my garden. I must say it was very dangerous at times. A group of ogres had me on the run for weeks once..."

The elf paused for a moment and then continued, "Ebramsom, I've never seen you in Mystique before, have you arrived just recently?" The elf wanted to learn more about Ebramsom, because Aladamis had never had a family, or even parents to speak of. So he thought that because Ebramsom was a de Lylles family member, he would have lots of stories about his family and what they were like.

Ebram shock his head. "Please Aladamis. My title is for offical occasions, not walks in the park." He then contiuned. "Ebram please." The youth had not problem with formality, but he was in Lauryl, these were the de Lylles people, they were more then just other people they were citzens of this lovelly kingdom. "We are in Lauryl my friend, and the citzens are as extended family to the house de Lylles, and formality should really only be required with formal occasions."

"You are correct in your assuption. I am only of resent aquaintance to Mystique, my parents were assigned guardianship over lands near Natura, but after my mother's death, my father felt it was safter to have myself with family." Ebram said contiuning with their conversation.

Aladamis was relieved to see that Ebram was not wielding his power in an overbearing way. The druid began to speak again. "It would seem we both have been through a lot before our arrivals here in Mystique. How do you feel about being here? Out of all of the places in the empire, I find Mystique to be one of the most beautiful places. The forest of light, where my home is, the crystallium architecture, the temple to Carmelya. I think my favorite spot in the whole empire is the forest where I ride my elven windstepper, Adello. What do you plan on doing here Ebram?"

The youth smiled. "The city is pleasent, vastly different from Alleria Prime. The city puts on at peace were the city Imperial tends to be full of uncarring life." The youth said thinking for a moment. "It of a very agreable arangement to be with familia. They observe me for how I am not what my name is."

He smiled. "There are no specific goals. Mastering horse ridding would be a good thing. I also seek to help my familia reclaim some of there position in the world. To many sit back and say nothing, they tend their lands, but this kingdom needs more then that."

Aladamis nodded as the youth spoke, he listened intently, but also observed him and his every move. He slipped into a momentary meditation as the young elf spoke. Aladamis wanted to see something. Clara! The elf looked the youth over. Aladamis was no master, but he could not rule out the possibility of Ebram being capable of one day wielding the arcane.

"Ebram, have you ever considered becoming a druid? I am an adept druid, and perhaps soon I will be a Master... You enjoy riding you say, perhaps we should go for a ride somewhere, sometime."

The elf took a quick glance around them. The nature in his state of clara was very transparent to him. However, he quickly slipped out of that state so that he could continue the conversation.

Ebram smiled. "I have already started some sorcery lessons. I gave some thought to druidsm, but I just didn't feel the connection to nature required." He nodded his head though. "I would love to go for a ride. Feeling the wind in your hair is a wonder."

Aladamis nodded and replied, "Sorcery indeed is a powerful art. However, my new friend, It is getting dark, and I must return the forest. Perhaps we can meet tomorrow, If you were serious about taking a ride."
