[LOCATION] -Offices of the Commanding Officer-

OOC: To post to this thread you must enter first the 8ths base through one of two gates.

IC:

Near the flags is the office and home of the Commanding Officer of the 8th Imperial Legion. It is a simple design of stone and mortar composed of two levels. The front of the structure has a double door with a window set to either side of it, both doors are swung out in a full open position with a wedge set under each to hold them thusly. The right door has posted on the inside the expected grooming standards of the legionnaires, using more pictures then words to set an example of expectations. The left door has posted the current chain of command starting from the current regent down to the officers in charge of various function on base.

As you enter there is a rough looking mat made of woven straw with a free standing sign that say ‘Wipe Your Feet.’ To your left and right are legionnaire guardsmen standing at parade rest, with their eyes locked forward. Across the way is a desk run by Shield-Daekin. Behind him are several doors leading to various offices. “How may I help you?” He asks in a rough but friendly voice.

tyr enters the room and wipes his feet on the mat, small amounts of soot forming clouds around his feet. he notices the desk clerk.

"i would like to join the imperial legion, i was told to speak with commander te'quer. could you please direct me to his office?"

tyr waited for the mans reply.

The desk clerk eyed the civilian who entered the building. He had apparently been directed here or else he would never have found the place. Assuming the guards had done their job properly, he went ahead and waved him in. "The Commander can see you now. He's through those doors." Pointing, the secretary alerted the Commander that his attention was needed.

As Tyr entered the office, he saw a luxurious mahogany desk with a tall-backed leather chair behind it. The Imperatis sat with an expecting face and his hands crossed on the desk before him and behind the engraved marble prism which read: Commander Zinda Tel'Quer. He welcomed the man to sit with a motion of his hand and said, "Serale young man. I know that you have need to see me, so how may I be of any assistance to you this brightening?" He smiled genuinely in attempt to allow the man to feel more comfortable in this setting.

tyr examines the man briefly before sitting down. he could tell the commander was a sincere man just by the look of his eyes.

"serale, sir. lets get right down to business. as of late, I've been feeling a tidbit bored with the civilian life, and I would very much like to join the imperial legion."

tyr emphasized the last few words in order to give a sense of importance. he then leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. he was sure commander te'quer would allow him entry, the legion in this area was just beginning to grow.

Tel'Quer studied the young man's face and nodded. He understood what the civilian was going through as he remembered feelings of the same nature. Of course, that seemed like so long ago when his body was more able and enthusiastic- more importantly, not held back by aging joints and muscles. Though the Commander was not what would be described as old, her certainly had the experience of an officer reaching the other side of his prime.

"The Legion here certainly is growing. And we love to see new faces here," he replied genuinely. "First, though, you will need to complete our basic training program. This is a six cycle program that will teach you the basic skills you will need to be considered a Legionnaire. Unfortunately, we only hold basic training in the Capital city of Aelyria Prime." He watched the man's face for signs of what he may be thinking.

"The city is a good distance from here. On foot, it can take about two cycles. Considering you would need to travel and I would really like to see you complete your trip, I can probably work something out to give you some crowns to help you buy supplies to get you there." He looked at the man before asking, "Is that what you would like to do? I know it seems far, but you can put in to transfer back here once you finish training." He watched the man and patiently waited for his reply, hoping the offer sounded good. He did not mention how much soldiers got paid, but the young man certainly would know it was not half bad.

Escorted by four guardsmen Keldon made his way to the office of the commanding officer. Entering through the door Keldon smirked briefly when he noticed the words on the mat and scanned the room. His eyes instantly locked onto the officer sitting behind the desk and approached.

"Serale, I am Provost Keldon Elsdragon the Surveyor-General for the empire. I am here to speak to Imperatis Tel'Quer if available." he finished firmly looking to the officer awaiting a reply.

tyr's face creased into a smile as he heard tel'quer mention aelyria prime. tyr had heard stories of the great city. surely, mystique was a brilliant place, but aelyria prime was the gem of the empire.

"i fully willing to make this journey sir. the money will not be neccessary, for i have my own funds, but i will not turn it down if you insist."

tyr noticed the officer walk in, so he stood up and bowed. the man looked rather arrogant' but he had an air of authority.

"serale, sir."

Tyr

With a smile, the commander stood. Tel'Quer replied, "Please, take the crowns. I do insist. You never know what you may run into and I certainly hope the incentive with help you make it to Aelyria Prime, if you know what I mean." He winked and patted Tyr on the shoulder. "When you arrive in Aelyria Prime, just find the military district. The guards can direct you to where you need to go from there, but it should be pretty easy to find. Please have a safe journey and I hope to see you as a strong Legionnaire in the near future."

Several times, people have promised the Imperatis that they would go to the capital city to join the Legion but have mysteriously disappeared before making it. Some may have found death prevented their travel, but others simply took the crowns and used it for themselves, changing their minds along the way. Tel'Quer could only hope Tyr would be one of those who actually signed up.

Keldon
The young officer nodded and hurried into the Commander's office. Within a few bright moments, he returned and announced that Imperatis Tel'Quer would see him immediately.

Upon entering the office, Keldon would find the Commander in a rather amiable mood but expecting the Surveyor-General to get quickly to the reason of his appearance.

tyr took the crowns from the mans hand, and placed them in his pocket. he could tell the man was hiding something, but it didn't bother him. tyr thought of his future, riding on the back of a war charger in shining plate armor, the feeling made him smile.

"have a good day."

tyr turned and left the room. he walked toward the barracks gate.

Keldon entered the office and saluted the Imperatis out of respect. But he did not wait for permission to come out of the salute. He casted a brief smile and a gentle nod and got straight into things. "Serale Imperatis, I hope your brightening goes well." he said with a brief pause.

"I received your correspondence and with what it contained and what was not contained I decided I needed to come here myself to fill in the blanks."
he said firmly holding a parch of paper in his hand which was the original letter.

Secrets :
To the Surveyor-General, Aelyrian Imperial Legions

From, Imperatis Zinda Tel'Quer
Commander, Constantine's Reckoners, 8th Imperial Legion

Serale,

To assist in fulfilling your duties as Surveyor-General, please consider the following information when determining the most appropriate way to allocate your precious resources:

The Constantine's Reckoners are in a developing state in the city of Mystique. By this, I mean that the 10,000 legionnaires who currently operate within the city, though able to perform and execute simple missions to assist in law enforcement, are not in a position to carry out any higher level operations. Though they are training, we simply do not have the experience nor the numbers as many other legions do.

This has not been an issue in the past considering the support of the local druids and the rest of the arcane community, but as Mystique grows and prospers, we will require more of a military force, even if it is from the Mage Corps.

As far as fortifications and structures go, we have our own military district to conduct training and exercises and administration, but we have no strong fortifications or outposts to be manned. Again, we have not found a need for such physical defenses because of the local mages, but I cannot find any reason why not to prepare for the future.

Mystique is a very unique city, Provost, and one to be considered as such when determining how to use your resources. Remember that as of right now there is no foreseeable threat to the city, but one cannot predict what the future may hold. Developing the Legion further in this region could be a valuable asset in the future.

Thank you for your attention regarding this matter and please continue to discharge the duties of your office in a responsible and effective manner.

Signed,
Imperatis Zinda Tel'Quer
Commander, Constantine's Reckoners, 8th Imperial Legion
Mystique, Lylles Kingdom of Lauryl

"Now you mention your forces are still ill trained and not that capable correct? If this is so then we need to look at means to put them to use in the local area to start honing there skills, which raises another question how many unit's are currently assigned to your legion? I apologize for not requesting further details, but alas they are needed."
he finished, he had several more questions namely how much the legion relied on the local mages for protection and so forth, something that while acceptable was also a risk and needed to be changed.

Tel'Quer nodded at the Surveyor-General's questions. They were well founded requests and they gave the Commander the feeling that the man truly cared about his forces and the 8th Legion on a more personal basis. The mentioning of mages forced his eye browns to peak as he considered how to answer.

"First, understand that warriors in general have not been too welcome in this city until relatively recently," he started. "Luckily, their status has grown to be a much more respectable profession, but some locals are still slightly uneasy when they see armed Legionnaires walking the streets of the city. However, I understand this is necessary and I feel that the citizens need to get used to the sight. On the same note, though, we need them to feel comfortable and safe or else why are were here at all?" The officer cleared his throat and poured a cup of water from a pitcher on the corner of his desk, motioning for Keldon to help himself if he desired.

Continuing, Tel'Quer added, "We have roughly ten thousand here. They are helping in the community, maintaining peace while our local government irons out current wrinkles, and they are patrolling the city and the surrounding areas like any other Legion would do. They are also training and carrying out any typical duties you would find any typical Legionnaire doing anywhere else in the Empire. Only here, as I mentioned, they are not welcome everywhere." He stopped and waited for the Surveyor-General to pipe in with any thoughts or questions or concerns he felt he should add at the moment.
