Pursuit and Capture, Tale of a She-Giant (Riconus & Klue, Private)
ooc: Continued from HERE which was continued from HERE
TIMESTAMP: Grandfathered From Late Spring Era XI
Private Ghurnam was not exactly the best of soldiers. Fresh into the military, he barely knew the basics of any weapon. His knowledge of swordsmanship was limited to 'stick the pointy end in the other person, and try not to cut yourself.' His military protocol wasn't much better, probably worse even. Still, he was a terribly enthusiastic human who could go far if given the chance, so long as he could handle the pressure of combat when it arrived. He was green and had never had to kill a man, nor even legitimately fought one.
As the young man; barely 17 patterns to his name, stood waiting for his chance to guide the troops, his hands obviously could not stop shaking. Thoughts crossed his mind. Thoughts like 'What if we get there and they're gone?', and 'What if we get there and they fight... I don't want to fight a giant!'. The first time jitters had plagued his mind and body.
The twenty soldiers that Riconus had ordered to scramble to the ready were present, all in near perfect formation as they waited for orders from Captain Frostblood. None of them knew exactly where they were going yet, told only to assemble and not what for. Still, they had been well trained, and were all at least a little more experienced than their peer who had to lead them to their destination. It was only for the Captain and the Lieutenant that they waited.
ooc: I'll let you decide the armaments of the troops, since you'll know more about FRs military than me. I ask that you say how many troops have each type of applicable weapon, shields, armour, etc... now just so I know. I'm a stickler for consistancy in military =D You can post it here or PM me... your choice.

OOC: Shaaw, the equipment list is here, and being on patrol, they would all be in full garb. Being infantry, they would have tower shields and longswords.
Training:
-Intermediate Sword
-Basic Etiquette (marching, formations, etc.)
-Basic endurance.
-------
The men marched in two ranks, ten soldiers deep, with Captain Frostblood standing at the forefront of the formation. He was a skilled officer and brave soldier, who wore his scars like badges of honor. It would be a shame to anyone who mistook his slightly wrinkled face and thining hair as a sign of weakness, for the only thing stronger than the influence he had on his soldiers was the braun he still possessed underneath his shining armor.
"Ten-hut! Present arms!"
Shouted Frostblood, with the soldiers falling into attention and immediately withdrawing the blades from their sheathes in response. By now, he had hoped that Lieutenant Malinconico was already outside in full battle garments, as the sun gleamed off the two silver bars on his shoulders, indicating his rank of captain. The barely-adolescent human who would lead them to this giantess may not have been skilled, but he knew well that the soldiers under his direct command were trained to be skilled soldiers, and that most of their fears were driven out by the hard-nosed drill sergeants that the Prince Maverius Regiment has to offer.
"Alright, Lieutenant." said Frostblood to Klue. "You'll take up command of Foxtrot squadron. You're still way too green to issue orders independantly, so just follow my instructions, and make sure those instructions are carried out by your men. You copy?"
After instructing Klue, he turned to the 20 men assigned to the mission.
"Alright, soldiers. We are in the pursuit of a female suspect, of the giant race. It's possible that she is also in the presense of four or five other accomplices. We will demand their immediate surrender on sight, and if they refuse in any way, we will be forced to initiate hostilities through armed conflict.
Private, you may lead the way." his final statement was directed to the young scout, ready to begin the operation.

By the time Klue had outfitted himself and taken his leave of the commander’s office, the squads were formed up outside. Making double time, he joined them and approached Captain Frostblood, just finishing off strapping the borrowed long sword in place over his kilt. In was the finest weapon he’d seen or held, and naturally he vowed the thing wouldn’t come to any harm. Gods help him it wouldn’t. After the trouble he’d managed to stir up already, simply by inadvertantly being in the place where it started, the last thing he wanted was to draw more fire in his direction.
Snapping off a quick salute to the captain he stood at attention to receive his orders. Foxtrot. Right. ”Aye, yes sir,” he said and turned to face his men while the captain issued their instructions. And when the private was told to lead the way, Klue waited on the order to move out, so he could assure his own men did just that. Like the rest, he carried a shield supplied with the rest of his gear by the captain, and now had his sword at the ready.

ooc: Sorry for the wait, wouldn't have been this long but I knew Riconus was on vacation anyways...
ic: There was little more on Private Ghurnam's mind at the moment than the castigation he would face should he not deliver. Still, after maintaining his dilatory demeanor for only a short few seconds, he began to move. Adjusting the armour which was not only too big but also to heavy to be supported by his meager frame, the private kept a slow pace. The man wore at LEAST a quarter his own weight worth of armour, weapons, and other necessities in the uniform. After being on duty for a while, and running back to the compound, it was obvious he was tired. Not to mention that the idea of actually fighting a giant quite frankly scared the **** right out of him and would continue to do so even if he did have twenty other men backing him up.
As the group progressed, it seemed they had to travel to almos tthe complete opposite end of town. It became painfully obvious; given the time span involved, that Private Ghurnam had really booked it to. Finally, after a decent march and in the middle of literally the second last block before leaving town, he stopped and pointed.
"That's it... Sir, Captain, Sir! Right over there!" the somewhat overly enthusiastic private shouted to the captain, quite possibly arousing some of the nearby citizens from the sleep with the high pitched squeel.
The building was a free stander. Right on the corner of two roads, it had an roads on the front and side, and an alley on both the others. Upon closer inspection one would note that each alley was about five or six feet wide, and litered with various junk from the local citizens. The building had a look as if it was an inn; however, there was no sign or marker labelling it as such. Two windows on one side were boarded up, as were the two windows on each alley facing side. The only unboarded windows were those on either side of the door, and those on the second floor... Again two on each side. Those two windows were almost completely obstructed by thick cloth curtains. The front door itself was a thick old styled wooden door. Judging only from the look and the lack of any handle, it could be assumed both that is swung inwards and that it would have a crossbeam to lock it from the inside rather than a more modern locking mechanism.
The second floor was possibly accessible by a wooden 'fire escape' type structure that lead to the backmost window. The only question here would be if the rickety old structure; which had obviously been held in very poor maintenance, would hold the wait of a person who tried to actually use it. Even a single soldier would be taking a big risk by going in that way. The back door would be another possible point of entry, but it was also a thick wooden door. It seemed to be designed to stop anyone from getting in without somebody noticing. The thick wood had thicker bands of metal than those on the front door keeping it together.
At this point it was entirely up to Captain Frostblood to decide how to direct the men, but the descision would be best made fast. Exposed as they were at the moment, even a casual glance out through the curtains from one of the residents would make it terribly obvious that something was happening. Twenty three fully garbed soldiers standing in the middle of the street late at night was not exactly commonplace in Frigid River, it would draw attention.
