Frigid Rangers Now Hiring!!

A finely dressed elf with a longsword on each hip could be seen running around, and on the front gates, inns, bars, and shops alike was posting notices that read this:

Come ONLY if you're race tolerant and respect the land as well as other people. Anyone not with these qualities is welcome to not join.

As you read the notice, you see that a hobbit that had been following him has set up a little table near the flyer, with his own sign that says:

Inquire here about joining the Frigid Rangers!

The hobbit is busy writing a few things in a ledger, and he has a bag of items near him, presumably for those that wish to join.

" Serale, I would like to know what skills and training you'd need to become a ranger, and what you would do as a ranger."

Zyrxos: The Hobbit smiles at you warmly and says,

"Well, Serale, good Sir, skills needed would be the ability to walk, live in, and nurture nature as it were." The small creature laughs at his own joke, but then becomes politely serious again.

"We also need to make sure you can use a weapon to defend nature, the city, and other rangers, as well as other people. We will provide you with basic ranger training and basic weapon training of one weapon of your choice. Also, we provide some ranger essentials, shall we say, such as a symbol of your rank in our order, an ID card that permits you to be more than a citizen, but less then a city military offical. Lastly, we require that you give us service for one year in the local area, from which afterwards you may request a detatched assignment."

The hobbit takes a breath, as all this was one mouthful, and one breath's worth of air. Smiling again, he continues.

"We do, however, also pay rather generously, plus the services you provide can often generate their own rewards. We pay 100 crowns a cycle. Fees will be incured for your training should you decide to leave within the first year, as well as a penalty to your inital pay. Essentially, you'll owe us if you try to leave outside of the first agreed apon year."

Zyrxos thinks for a while... He was out of work, he didn't want to be in the military, and he had always loved nature. "Sure, I will join the Rangers, however I do not have a weapon yet. As soon as I get one I will be happy to start training."

The hobbit nods, reaches into a satchel with papers, and removes one for you.

"If I could have you fill out this form here, Sir." He acknowledges.

What do you hope to accomplish with the Frigid Rangers?
I hope to learn more about nature and make it so it is the same when I die as it is right now.

Why do you feel you will make a good addition to the Frigid Rangers? When I was a child I used to sopenf dawn to dusk (when I wasn't in school, of course) outside. I learned to identify every type of plant and animal around here. I think I will make a good Ranger for my natrual abilities. I do not have any experience fighting, but I hope to earn some via Frigid Rangers.

OOC: by innocent I hope you mean that they desecrated the land but to the rangers extent the didn't know they did anything(not actually written on paper)
Ic: I would immediatly subdue the "druids". Druids know that two wrongs don't make a right, and that by killing the humans jus makes the balance worse. Druids know that there are other ways to help stop nature detriment. After subdueing the druids I would take them to the local Archdruis and let them decide a punishment.

Sinara waited in a shadow nearby, her tail curling around her legs as she carefully watched the half-elf and the hobbit. This "Rangers for hire" poster could be what she was looking for, but it was still a big decision...
Finally she made up her mind. Lifting her head high, her ears erect, Sinara quietly padded her way to the little table. She towered over the hobbit.
"Serale," she said in a low, rough voice. "You are hiring those who wish to be Rangers?"

IC:Looking up Zyrxos sees the Kata lady "ah serale friend" he says as he looks down and finished his form " Yes this is the place, I suppose you want to become a ranger?" ,he says inquisitivly as he gives the form to the hobbit, "And you, Halfling, are you a ranger or just working for one?" Quoth Zyrxos after he reaches his right hand over to the Halfling "oh, and of course" He says as he reaches his left arm across his body and under his right hand to the kata "pleased to meet you both"

The halfling hands the Katta the same form as the half-elf (see above) and shakes the half-elf's hand simultaniously.

"I am indeed a ranger, My name is Rogar Bumblebottom. For the most part, my detatched assignment is recruitment and bookkeeping. Yes, Madam, this is where one signs up for the Frigid Rangers, if I could just have you fill out this form here."

Looking over to Zyrxos, the halfling grants the man his full attention after reviewing his answers.

"Very well. Your answers are permissable. Welcome to the Frigid Rangers. You have two brightenings to get your things in order, then report the Frigid Ranger Headquarters for training. Good luck, Trainee Rozk."

Zyxos: The hobbit sighed amusedly. Standing, he reached for a clasp and ID card from a satchel, shaking his head. The simple clasp is one of an evergreen tree with the letters "FR" emblazioned on it. Reching up to your shoulder (causing him to stand on his tippy toes) he closes it around your shirt and says aloud, handing you the ID card and shaking your hand,

"Congratulations, and welcome to the Frigid Rangers. Your clasp is the sign of your rank, the evergreen you wear signifying trainee. Now, you may report to Headquarters."

Going back to his seat, you notice he wears the clasp of a bear's head, also with the letters "FR". What little you can tell from spying a look is that a bear is pretty high on the list of ranks. The hobbit begins to write, but stops to tell you something.

"Normally, we wait until you report to training at Headquarters, but I guess this'll have to do. Off with you now, don't scare anyone away from here." Bumblebottom finishes laughing.

Sinara shook Zyrxos' proffered hand, then coolly glanced down the sheet the Hobbit had given her. The questions were not difficult, so Sinara answered them rapidly:

What do you hope to accomplish with the Frigid Rangers?
I hope to protect all the precious things of life from those that desire to destroy them - to stand up for the weak, take down antagonists, and help those who need it.

Why do you feel you will make a good addition to the Frigid Rangers?
I am brave, loyal, and willing to sacrifice. When I devote myself to a cause, I do not look back and I do not quit. I have always admired the Rangers and wished to join them. Now I have a chance.

Hypothetical Situation:
Arrest them immediately, but be careful - they may be disturbed and therefore dangerous. It is wrong to kill so casually, whether the victims are innocent or not. To kill those who are innocent is to deliberately destroy the balance of nature, which is what we are sworn to protect.

Sinara hands the paper to the Hobbit, then waits, slightly nervous, for his reply.

Sinara: The hobbit looks over your application and a wan smile crosses his face.

"Very good. Very good indeed. I am quite impressed, and impressing this hobbit is not easily done. The answers to your questions are very good."

He leans over and begins to write on a scroll that he soon rolls up and seals with a velvet tie, and then hands it to you along with an ID badge.

"Your clasp will be given you as you arrive for training. As for the scroll, give it to Buckler, the ranger at the front desk at headquarters when you arrive. You have two brightenings to put your affairs into order and then report to headquarters for training. Dismissed, Trainee."

With that the Hobbit chuckles, shaking his head, awaiting more recruits.

Sinara smiled, relieved and feeling a little proud of herself. She gathered up the scroll and the ID badge, bowed carefully to Bumblebottom, and padded quickly down the street.
