Celethor Tyran is an upstanding Citizen
Practice on the Field (invite only)

Timestamp: Autumn, Era II, Year IX in the Age of the Darkening

Celethor ran back to the dorms after his greatsword training. He was quite tired after an especially tiring session of lessons today, and he has more than ready for a shower. He knew he had to meet Steve at the excercise field soon, so he quickened his pace a bit.

Once he got to the dorms, he took a shower in the bathroom and changed his clothes. He used his training outfit. It was very comfortable for military atire. The dracon would have thought that military garb would have been more stiff and uptight. But it was a very relaxing suit, giving him the encouragement he needed to go on with the day. It seemed that his entire life was devoted to training, now that he had joined the military. There wasn't many spare seconds in the day where he could do anything, and most of those spare seconds were set aside for sleep. The dracon was pretty short on that essential element of life these days.

So Celethor sprinted off towards the excercise field, bringing his great sword along with him. It was the great sword he had purchased at Vers. It was quite a good make, even though Vers was a very peaceful city. Celethor had been surprised they had such a good selection of weapons and armour. But, the quietness of Vers hadn't suited him, so he left off for Narim. Celethor still wasn't quite sure whether that had been either the best decision of his life or the worst one. Sure, he had met many new friends, and was becoming a lot stronger, but now he had no leisure time. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise. Either way, Celethor would stay here until his training was finished. He had promised himself that.

Celethor reached the excercise field, looking out for Steve.

Steve Lionhart Gil'dae is an upstanding Citizen
Steve had just been through another load of tiring training. He was already in his training uniform, and he knew he had arranged to meet his dracon friend Celethor. Steve went straight to the dormitaries and fetched his sword, although he wanted rest, he also wanted to go see his friend, who Steve had met on his first day, they had both signed up on the same brightening.
Sleep was alot less than he was used to, and Steve was tired, but at least he got a bed, Steve had slept alot on cold hard ground during his time.

But fun was alot more important than sleep, he thought to himself with a small smile, and he retrieved his sword, clipped the sheath to his belt, and headed off for the training field. No doubt his buddy would be there first, Steve had a knack for being late, and getting shouted at by various sergants. Steve sure found it hard ajusting to the military, before he hadn't ever been told what to do.

Steve, deciding not to keep Celethor waiting, started to jog towards the field, warming up his muscels before he started doing anything. It was rare now for Steve to get any time to do anything, it was training, sleep, training, and the occasional time off. It had been to long since Steve had gone and had a ale in the flounders. Steve was tired, but he had to use all the time he got when he was not asleep and not training with the sergants.

Steve reached the field and looked around for Celethor. The Dracon had no doubt got there before Steve, the lazy Quater elf, so he expected to see his friend. When he did, he called out

"Serale Celethor!"

Although both heavily burdened with their military training, both Celethor and Steve valued spending time with friends. And, by practising together, they would make their time together not only pleasant, but perhaps beneficial as well. Being taught how to wield weapons was vital to training, but so was experience. And without a superior around, barking orders, this might be a nice chance to experiment somewhat...

When Steve arrived at the training ground, he found Celethor was already there. The Elf called out a serale to his dracon friend, waiting for a reply...

ooc: Please be clear about what weapon is to be wielded etc. in your next post. I assume there will be little need for small talk?

OoC: Yeah, we already know each other, so a casual greeting will do. We don't really need to talk about much, unless you (Steve) want to chit-chat while sparing or something of the sort. What this is mainly for is to improve our technique, practice parrying, and get experience of what it would really be like battling an enemy.

IC: Celethor was still searching around for Steve when he turned and saw him jogging up to the field. When he heard the greeting, he waved back and jogged up to the half-elf. From the way Steve looked, Celethor guessed that he was tired also. The dracon doubted they could get much done if they were both tired all the time. He would be sure to get to bed early tonight, so he could be ready for tommorow.

"Hey, Steve!" Celethor said once he got up to the quarter elf. "You ready? You've already stretched and warmed up, I assume? We both have training in the mornings so I expect we're both already worked-out by now, right? I know I am."

Celethor waited for Steve to answer. Once he did, he would continue on, saying, "Anyway, I was thinking that we would start with a quick spar to see how we're both doing. We'll have to make sure none of us gets hit, though. Just stop when you get to a point where it is obvious that you would have a blow and say, 'Hit!' or something to the effect. We can go over our strengths and weaknesses, improve on our techniques, come up with some new stratagies, even moves. What do you think?"

Steve stood still catching his breath as he was approached by his friend. Jogging hadn't really tired him out though, so it wasn't long untill he was breathing normally agian. Steve looked at the Dracon, a smile playing on his lips. The dracon seemed exited, and why not? This should be fun.

"Yep, i'm nice and warmed up, and i don't think my muscels need further stretching somehow" He said with a small smile, he was refering to his ongoing training.

It sure was tough, and after training, he really didn't need any more muscel stretching. Steve and Celethor were here to test their skills, have a bit of friendly sparring. It was a good way to hang out and improve skills at the same time. Steve was interested to know how good the Dracon was. Sure, he had seen him fight, but he, as well as practising, wanted to see how good Celethor was compared to Steve.

Steve listened the Dracon speak his plan and nodded, his smile increasing.

"Sure, sounds good, shall we get started?" Steve asked his clearly enthusiastic friend, and without time for Celethor to reply, Steve didn't doubt what the answer would be anyway, Steve unsheathed his weapon. Steves custom made, to his own request, 37 inch long elven steel longsword glinted beautifully in the suns rays. His sword shined almost as it did when he had first seen it. His swords blade was well decorated, intricate dark flames climbed up one edge, standing out clearly from the shine of the elven steel. At the bottom of the blade was a skillfully etched charging lion, as symbol of Steves family name, it marked the blade as that of a Lionhart. The hilt was made of silver, adorned with small carvings of lions, and around the grip of the hilt was black leather, there to make holding the blade easier. The blade had been expensive, numerous people had wanted to steal it, and Steve still had no idea why he had spent so much money on the sword when he could have left it plain, undecorated, but he was glad he hadn't.

Putting a bit of distance between himself and Celethor, he then swiped a bit with his sword and spun it in his hand, just to get used to its weight, the elven steel making it lighter than the swords he had been training with lately.

"So my friend, are you ready?"

Steve got into a fighting stance, ready to recieve a attack, or attack, as soon as his friend was ready to fight, well, it wasn't a fight in the sense they were going to hurt each other, just a friendly test of skill

"Be carefull with your sword, that thing could take a eye out, i'll be careful too" he told him with a smile on his face

OoC: (Gatekeeper) I'll just post again, describing my weapon and attack. It seemed like the last two posts left nothing for you to moderate.

IC: Celethor watched as Steve drew out his sword. The dracon admired it. It was quite intricate and ordorned with many decorations. Celethor did not have the money right now to customize a sword for himself at the moment, but he figured that, even though the pay in the military right now was low (just barely enough to live on), as he moved up in the ranks, his pay would get more substantial. After all, that was how they kept people in the military, wasn't it? One would hardly join the military if he could make more trading or blacksmithing. Celethor guessed the low pay thing was yet another try from the generals to humble the new recruits. They seemed to want a lot of humbling to go on in the first weeks of training.

Celethor smiled at Steve's sarcasm. His sword could put an eye out... along with various other bodily organs. But he felt that he had grown much stronger during training, and wouldn't swing his sword that hard anyways.

The dracon also wanted to know how much the quarter elf had grown. Since their afternoon off (fighting off Blackie and various other minions of some wierd cult), Celethor hadn't seen Steve fight at all. He was anxious to get the fight started with, so he drew his sword.

There wasn't much to say about his sword. It had been a very plain one he had spotted in Vers. Vers wasn't exactly blacksmith capital of Alleria, but the dracon had bought it anyway because it had been so cheap. He was still confounded that he had bought a great sword in such good shape for only 300 crowns. The sword itself was a steel blade, with nothing on it, and a bronze hilt, the handle wrapped with leather for gripping. The sheath came with the sword (another bargain!); it was a leather sheath with oils on the inside to keep the blade from rusting. It was strapped to Celethor's back so he could carry it more effeciently.

Celethor got into a basic stance, as he had been show by Sergeant Camou, with his legs shoulder width apart, his left leg in front, and his right leg bend slightly.

"You ready?" Celethor didn't wait for an answer. "Go!" The dracon sped towards Steve. He held his sword behind him. When he reached the quarter elf, he would perform a horizontal slash, but not do it too hard, just in case Steve didn't manage to block or dodge it. That would be a shame, however, as they had just started. Celethor dearly hoped that Steve would block it, or something of the sort, because he was looking forward to a good, hardy battle.

Steve watched Celethor rush towards him, but he stood his ground. A horizontal slash was not easily dodged, so he decided to block it. With his sword at the ready point he swung at Celethors blade to deflect it, his sword flashing brightly as it sliced through the air to meet Celethors blade. Steve however did not underestimate his friend, Steve did expect a counter attack, which is why he wanted to lash out agian as soon as possible to put Celethor on the defensive.

If and when he blocked Celethors blade he would attack agian. Hopefully Steve's strike would knock back Celethors sword, he didn't want to get thier blades locked, Steve didn't doubt Celethors reptilian muscels were stronger than his and the Dracon would push him back. If they did end up pushing each others swords, Steve would pull his back and try and strike as fast as possible at Celethors stomach while he was still off-guard. He would of course stop the blade before he stabbed him.

If he managed to deflect Celethors blade he would simply slash from his swords position horizontally at Celethor, agian not actually hitting him. Steve was used to his light blade and was sure he could control it well enough to stop it. He would keep his blade edge a good 2 inches, or maybe slightly less later on in the battle, away from Celethors flesh just to make sure he didn't cause a injury, although he was sure one of them was likely to get scratched at least once, such was the way with combat, even a practise fight like this

Small sparks were sent flying as the swords collided. Celethor's horizontal slash had been well executed, but Steve had seen it coming. He had raised his longsword, and deflected his friends large blade to the side.

He then took up the initiative, by pulling back, and performing a counterstrike. He swung his blade at the dracon, aiming for the stomach.

Celethor had little time to react now, as his own attack had been deflected. How would he react to this attack?

ooc: Celethor posts first, then me, then Steve

OoC: It wouldv'e helped to know which way Steve deflected my attack, but for now, I'll assume that since Steve "sliced through the air" that he deflected it upwards.

IC: Celethor didn't have much time to react, so he did the first thing that came to his mind, he hopped backwards a fair distance, then, while doing this, brought his sword down from the air in a diagonal motion, attempting to send Steve's sword to the ground, aiming not only for Steve's sword, but also towards the ground. That way, even if his attempts to knock his sword down failed, he would still have a bit of room to move and execute a secondary attack. Because, if Celethor's parry failed, he would drop to the ground and use his legs to help push his sword up in a sort of upward jab. He would definetely stop before hitting Steve, which meant that he would be able to use as much force in his move, but he was confident that if Steve's sword missed him, it would be to the side, useless to him now.

ooc: It's my first time, still learning...

ic: As Steve's blade swung towards the dracon's mid-section, Celethor hopped back, and then used the length of his great sword to attempt to parry the Elf's attack. He was just in time to raise his weapon, and use it to bring it down to Steve's sword.

As a result, the two men now both stood with their swords pointing at the ground, Celethor's great sword on top, pushing down on Steve's longsword.

They then both took a few steps back, and a new round could begin.

ooc: Steve first, with an attack, then Celethor with a reaction and possible counterattack.

Steve ended up with his sword pointing to the ground with Celethors sword forcing it down. Steve wasn't sure if it was a draw or a win for Celethor, but it didn't really matter. Steve stepped back and readied himself agian for the next round of fighting, getting into a fighting stance. Waiting just long enough for Celethor to get ready, Steve sprung fowards, swinging his blade two-handed from his left shoulder diagonaly at Celethors mid section.Steve readied himself to halt his blade in case Celethor didn't block it, but he was sure the Dracon would. Celethor had proved himself agian to be a very capable fighter and Steve could see they were probably evenly matched. Steve was perhaps a little more agile, and his sword was easier to wield than Celethors, so he did perhaps have a small advantage, but Celethor was stronger than him and carried a longer sword, which was a advantage for Celethor

Celethor had gotten into his basic stance again at the start of the round. He didn't know how both him and Steve knew the round had ended, but it seemed obvious that it was over at the time. When the dracon saw the quarter-elf spring forwards, he was ready. It was clear that it was Steve's turn to start the round so he had been ready. Celethor brought his sword up to meet Steve's, putting lots of weight behind it, and attempting to push Steve's sword back. Once he had done that, he would counter-attack with a hard kick to Steve's right side. Celethor didn't aim towards Steve's groin because, well, he didn't want to be responsible for Steve's possible lack of being able to have children. He didn't want to hurt his friend in that respect, or at all, for that matter. But the dracon knew that a kick to the side wouldn't seriously injure him at all. So it was a safe bet.

With a few feet between them, both fighters got ready for the next round. It was then Steve who took the initiative. Taking a few strides towards his dracon friend, the Elf produced a diagonal slash, aiming for the midsection.

As he had expected, Celethor was ready to block this rather simple attack. He had his greatsword ready, and parried. After the blades clashed, Celethor attempted a kick, aiming for the Elf's side...

Steve just saw Celethors foot, and because it was a friend he was fighting he wasn't going to take a swing at it, but he didn't plan on being hit by it either. Steve jumped sideways in a attempt to dodge the blow, he was still sore from alot of training and didn't really want to get kicked as well. If he managed to escape the blow he would take a small swing at the Dracons chest and then strike agian but harder when it was blocked, he was sure the strike would be blocked because he knew Celethor was a capable fighter, afterall, the Dracon had killed a giant.

Steve was enjoying this. True, he was tired, and he was fighting agian, but the great thing was he was fighting with a friend, not a crazy orc, and he was not in great danger, although one badly aimed swing from Celethor could end his life, he trusted his pal not to kill or seriously injure him.
