The Market Square
Just outside gates of Midpoint Fortress lies a neat cobblestone square which, brightening after brightening, is the center of activity and commerce. Stalls and tents are set together in roughly-straight ranks and line the edge of the cobblestone square, leaving little room between for any potential customer to pass by undetected. From dawn until dusk merchants call out their wares, and never miss a chance to persuade another crown out of a gullible customer's pocket. Fruits and vegetables sweeten the air with their fragrances, though a runaway peach or two may prove distasteful for one who does not watch his step. Children run among the stalls, unheeding of a marketer's objections, and patrolling Alyssans watch carefully for wandering eyes and missing wallets, their clean uniforms bright amidst the throngs of people and wares.

The largest stall at the market, Fruits and Foodstuffs, boasts a wide supply of fruits, vegetables, meats, and grain that are displayed proudly for all to see. A set of shelves cascades down like a staircase, allowing customers to choose the foods they wish to purchase. Fresh meat is hung from the beam that crossed the stall, ready to be bought at a word to Millie, the shopkeep, a jolly Human woman with constant smile and smooth gesture.

Liana's Pet Shop and Supplies, as well, had set up a location in the market square. There are only a few small animals on display in their cages, but Adori, the Dwarfish seller, assures all customers that the majority of the animals are kept outside the square in suitable conditions. One need only ask, and the prospective pets will be produced.

Special requests are encouraged, as the merchant is renowned for welcoming new challenges, though a thick supply of standard weapons are ready for purchase. Next to the Tigerpaw was the location of Dalin's Armory. Whole suits of armor stood at either side of the stall while cuirasses, greaves, bracers, and iron gloves hung from the walls within. The forger and shopkeeper was a red-bearded Dwarf with a proud glint in his eye that matched the shine on his works of art.

Giant's General Store and Trading Post has always boasted the phrase, "If you can't find it there, you can find it here." From pipes to soaps to fine wines, the General Store is the place to go for anything and everything that just can't be found anywhere else. It is run, of course, by a Giant who only goes by the name...Giant. He is a bit slow, but his mathematics are never inaccurate.

During the night, a peculiar little shop literally rolled into the town and established itself at a corner of the market square. The oversized wagon was weather-beaten and splintering; its wheels were slightly less than round, and many of the boards that made up the sides of the structure were curved and twisted. The bed of the wagon was encased by a sturdy structure of wooden planking, over which was stretched a quilt of animal skins to keep out the weather. Over the side of the wagon which was facing the road was attached a large cut of white cloth, upon which was calligraphed in large bright letters: Madame Eiy's Fortunes.
A set of makeshift steps had been situated at the rear of the wagon to allow free entry to the business. The only light within the enclosement flickered from a single candle, which lay half-melted on a little shelf in a far corner. Beads were hanging everywhere from floor to ceiling, and reflected the light quite well throughout the rest of the wagon, though with a somewhat eerie shine. Clusters of dried herbs hung from the beams, giving the room a sweet aroma; these were mingled with small chimes and bells that would ring cheerily when a breeze found its way into the shop. Small shelves spanned the length of the structure, on which were arranged stacks of cards, crudely-made figures of people and animals, various wooden and metal symbols of the Airerielites, and some random trinkets that seemed to bear no purpose but to fill empty space.
A small table had been placed conspicuously in the center of the room, on which a clouded ball of crystal lay carefully in its stand. On the nearest side was an empty seat, while on the opposite sat a hefty human woman dressed in bright, eccentric colors and floral patterns. Her jolly face beamed in the candlelight, and her eyes had a friendly, if not mischievous, gleam. When someone entered her shop, she would grin broadly and raise her hands in praise rather than stand herself, since the roof of the shop was not nearly high enough to stand straight in.
"Serale! Serale!" she would call out in a joyous exclamation. "Welcome! Welcome! Come, sit down, traveler, and know what fortunes await you! I see into the crystal ball, read the lines in your hand, count the cards of the Tarot, whatever you wish! Ah, of course, for a small fee."

Fluid Time Stamp (roughly, event markers only): Shortly after Zandos had left the Alyssans, directly after the conversation between Khelek and Frost Tippes at Frost Tippes' house, and shortly before entering the Command Center
Frost Tippes and Khelek entered the cobblestone square, Khelek's eyes wandering from one stall to another in bright-eyed amazement. Frost Tippes, wearing the uniform of an Alyssan, flicked his ear good-naturedly and led the young Dorin pup by interesting stalls and strange scents that floated by their senses.
He was about to give up his search for a clothing stall when Khelek spotted just that. The pup gave a merry tug on his guardian's arm, and they both headed towards the store entitled Stitches.
Khelek's ears flattened immediately, the scent of Katta strong in the air surrounding the store. Frost Tippes gave his single ear a flick, and deliberately kept it in the air to show his good-natured approach. He stepped into the apparel shop, a firm paw resting on the pup's shoulder.
He glanced around, browsing through the items and looking for something that caught his eye. Both himself and the pup would need some clothes for traveling, and the 300 gold that he had made in his stay with the Alyssans would be going towards this purchase. He planned to purchase two pairs of trousers, a cloak, a doublet, and a tunic. But he also felt that the cloak should be embroidered.
He began to search for one of the Katta whom apparently ran the stall, unless the area had been under seige by them in the past half an hour. Khelek's gaze drifted from one piece of fabric to the next, the bright colors and beautiful designs allowing him to forget about the scent of Katta in the air. His ears rose tentatively, taking reassurance in the posture of his mentor.

Frost Tippes Xande
All four Tabbiri that were bustling about the small shop seemed to slow down in their work and perk their ears as the two Dorin approached, having caught their scent in the wind. When it became apparent that the Dorin were purposely heading for their clothing stall, the sisters gathered at the back and whispered quietly to one another in a hissing debate. At the moment that Frost Tippes and Khelek stopped at the desk, however, one of the Katta stepped forward. She forced a smile as she addressed them, obviously trying her very best to be polite.
"Serrrale!" she purred fluidly. "Welcome! What may I and my sisterrrs do forrr you?" She turned her eyes down to Khelek. "We sell all sizes, all shapes, all fabrrrics, all embrrroiderrries." She watched the child awhile longer, more comfortable looking at the cute cub than his battle-scarred guardian. Finally, however, she raised her smile to Frost Tippes in wait for an answer. Behind her, her three sisters worked slowly as they listened intently to the conversation.

Khelek looked up at Frost Tippes expectantly, his paw seeking out the older Dorin's for comfort. Frost Tippes kept his single ear raised for good manners, though his nose twitched occasionally. Luckily, he wasn't threatened by a sneeze that often seemed to come from his company of humans and elves.
Khelek's ears flicked up with some difficulty, and he kept glancing at the older Dorin to make sure he was supposed to try this hard to not growl at the Katta.
"Serale, I'm looking for a doublet and a pair of trousers that would fit my pup, as well as a pair of trousers and a tunic for me. I'm also interested in a traveling cloak for my pup," Frost Tippes gave a nod to Khelek, "with an embroidered design. I'm not entirely sure what could be done with embroidery, though."
Frost Tippes was somewhat at ease, a small non-predatorial grin on his features, the same grin he reserved for when he didn't want to frighten humans off. His single ear was pricked up without too much effort now, and he was silently wondering why all Katta couldn't be so hospitable and civilized.

Frost Tippes Xande
The Katta nodded, feeling a bit more at ease as she was able to rely on her knowledge of clothing. "Of courrrse, a doublet and trrouserrs for the puppy, and trrouserrs and tunic for the older Dorrin is no problem at all. You both should be measurred quickly for the best fit, if you would not mind." She pulled out a few pieces of parchment, each with a different design on it.
"I do the embrroiderry here, and I assurre you that any sort of design you desirrre may be stitched into the puppy's cloak. Morre detailed designs may take longerr and are a crrrown orr two morre expensive. Look thrrrough these, if you like. If you have an idea in mind, I could sketch it quickly." She pushed the stack of papers toward Frost Tippes. Most of them depicted simple designs that could be embroidered around the edge of a cloak, but there were some more advanced symbols and pictures that could be sewn into the center.

Frost Tippes nodded his head in agreement. The sooner the clothes were purchase, the sooner he could leave Midpoint. He looked over the parchment pieces for a few moments before noticing that Khelek was trying to see as well, not quite tall enough to see over the older Dorin's arm. Frost Tippes smiled, and took the pieces off of the counter. He kneeled and rested them on his knee, and Khelek followed him with interest.
The pair flipped through the parchment, Frost Tippes leaning towards the more intricate pictures and symbols availible as a center piece to the cloak. Khelek pointed out a few that he liked, slightly bashful at the fact that Mister Frost was going to all this trouble for him.
Finally, Frost Tippes stood with a small smile on his face. He laid the pieces of parchment back onto the counter and flipped back to a design which represented Aslan.
"I do believe we have come to a decision on the design. How long would it take you to make this one, and how much extra would it cost?" Although Frost Tippes didn't mind too much about spending some of his money, he also wanted to make sure he wasn't spending too much of it on one thing.

Frost Tippes Xande
The Katta wiggled her whiskers as she looked at the design, then nodded pleasantly. "Ah, that one will take about three hours to embroider, and will be another 10 crowns for its detail work. The other clothing will be made by my sisters at the same time, so everything should be finished within three hours." She nodded again and flicked an ear, a bit confused that this Dorin was acting so good-natured.
"Now, if you both wouldn't mind, we need to take a few measurements." Just as she finished speaking, her two sisters emerged from the back of the stall with their measuring thread. The girl that measured Frost Tippes was quick and considerate, and took only a few moments to jot down the appropriate measurements. The other that was measuring Khelek, however, was habitually fussing over the 'adorable little puppy.'
Finally, when all was through, the Tabbiri entered the stall again and immediately began work on the order. "Come back in three hours, sir, and your clothes should be ready."
