To See The Sea [Open]
After many false starts and wrong turns that were entirely of her own doing, Shu finally made her way to the docklands of Medonia. Upon spotting the blueness of the horizon, she actually ran the last few steps to the edge of the jetty she found herself upon in an uncharacteristic child-like demeanor. Initially, as she surveyed the blue-green expanse of the Sea of the Diana the tips of her sandals were all but touching the edge of dry land, but as the realization of the vast entity in front of her hit home she involuntarily took a few steps backwards away from the deep blue pool that seemed to want to suck her in.
One of the reasons that she had found herself in the city was to observe the sea, that she had heard much about but never seen. Oh, she had seen Lake Melody several times on rare trips out of Zinn'Sunn but she had been informed that it was tiny compared to the wide ocean, and she would have scoffed at her elders when they said that if she had been that sort of child. In actuality, it turned out that they had been right, and more to the point, the one thing she had wanted to see had, now she had seen it, become the one thing that she felt uncomfortable in the presence of.
A sea-breeze writhed its way from the ocean to the dockland and curled itself around Shu's black hair which was already looking slightly wild from travel, and the zephyr did not help matters much. Absently she took a small strand of the raven locks and twiddled it through thumb and forefinger as she stared at the scene in front of her. Despite the fact that the landscape filled her with a faint dread, she could not seem to look away.

And a bird bobbing on the ocean was watching her. A strange looking bird, not normally associated with the sea. But sitting on the sea nonetheless, quite comfortably. Were web-footed eagles usually considered to be sea birds? And since when were eagles web footed anyhow? Or, for that matter, tinted green and orange?
Not that it's something most people instantly notice. After all, it was only a bird. Bobbing ominously closer, and closer and closer, nearly reaching the shore. Waddling on its two webbed feet towards the watcher and inspecting her with beady blue-sapphire eyes that seem to be carved out of solid rock. And then, with a sudden flutter of oddly-hued wings, it hopped up onto a nearby rock and sat there, looking at her curiously, it's mouth occasionally opening as if attempting to speak but not quite managing it.

Rougenoe sat on the gangplank of the Redman Inn. Behind him was a walkway leading up to one of the cheapest and surprisingly cleanest inns in the city. the proprietor had undercut the other inns in price and on occasion offered the owner dueling a guest. It might seem strange to some but the owner of the inn found better friendship from patrons than beggars looking for a night's bed to rest their head.
Rougenoe quietly went about his post and gradually sharpened his gauche.

After a moment or two of contemplation Shu felt as if she was being watched. Remaining calm, no sign of her suspicion showed on her face, but her eyes roved the area for the culprit, starting on dry land and then heading out to sea. That was when she spotted the bird. Only then did she frown. Whilst it was true she had no idea what sea birds looked like, she had seen eagles once or twice before and the bird in front of her looked like one of their kin. Except she had never heard of eagles being associated with the sea. Perhaps it was a distant cousin. Or extremely lost?
The kemite observed the bird for a while longer, slightly out of curiousity and mostly out of want of anything better to do, her hunger being forgotton in the shock of seeing the sea for the first time. She noted that it was coloured unlike anything she had observed before. Definitely a cousin then. She pondered over whether the bird had any relatives in Zinn'Sunn, and whether she had seen them before. When it hopped up onto the rock and looked as if it was about to speak, Shu decided that it seemed rather intelligent, and like it was specifically trying to get her attention, for whatever reason. She wasn't entirely sure why a bird would want to talk to her, but it was probably important, for a bird to want to talk at all.
"Hello?"
As she glanced at the bird she noticed the sign of the Redman Inn in the distance, with a figure sitting on the walkway that led up to it. Shu remembered that the guard at the gate had recommended it, but she blanched slightly at the fact that it was floating. In the sea. With nothing much to stop it from sinking, if it felt so inclined. When she glanced back at the eagle there was a slightly worried look in her eyes.
