The Bounty Hunters Guild

Not three blocks from the edge of the Deep Down Market, the bounty hunters had situated themselves in a rather large, stone office. Originally nearly as old as the city itself, it had been destroyed roughly six eras ago when a man by who went by the name "The Piper" had broken free from his shackles and ravaged the place, utterly destroying the guild. Nearly all of the members where killed in the incident, and almost all knowledge of the Piper was lost in the destruction. The only thing that remained was a single wanted poster, which is the main attraction at the newly revbuilt guild.

Those who survived went into hiding, fearing for both their lives and their reputation. After all, they had been completely humiliated. Now, six eras later, the Malician Bounty Hunter's Guild was back in business. Along the wall stone walls where posted nearly two dozen posters of fugitives of all make, from 50 crown bounties all the way up to 50,000. Of course, the 50,000 gold reward went the the capture of the Piper, but it was really nothing more than a pipedream. No one even tried any more. No one even knew if he was still alive. But the poster remained...set forever in stone to be a reminder of the cost of failure...

As one enters the Guildhouse, it's fairly obvious who the hunters are. Most wore bolted leather or chainmail. Some of the orcs wore heavier armour, but not many others. All of them gave off the air of a warrior, and all of them could easily handle themselves. These hunters, however, served more as guards. After the 'incident' six eras ago, the guild had become tenfold mor defensive. Most of the field workers, any more, where greens looking to make a name for themselves.

At the desk in the middle of the room, there could be seen a beautiful, raven-headed girl wearing a funny looking hat and what seemed to be a skirt. Bronze skin and pointy ears pointed at a mysterious descent, but that was of little consequence to most. She was known simply as the Huntress. Now a Clerk, her past is a shady one. She, however, is the person that all newcomers are directed to, and she smiled prettily at all whom approach.

Posted on a square, stone column next to the front desk could be seen a long parchment, scribed in ink.

Quote:
Guild Charter

With the death of general Eric Redblade, and a shift in power, the rules for the guild have now been changed. Thank you.

-All interested in becoming a hunter should speak to the clerk present. From there, you will be assigned to an instructor and examiner who will be deciding whether or not you have what it takes to become a hunter. If you pass, then you will be issued a Hunter's License.

-In situations where innocent bystanders and property receive damage, payment for all injuries suffered will be directly removed from the reward for capture of said criminal. If the fugitive is not captured, said hunter will be required to pay for all damages out of his or her own pocket. If on direct guild assignment, some damages incurred will be covered by the guild. The amount which the guild will pay towards damages, however, is directly affected by the recklessness of said hunter.

-Check back often for updates. Rules are subject to change without prior notice.

Kuras, twenty-fourth brightening in the month of Imperos
Summer
Era XI in the Age of the Darkening

Bounty hunting... hah.

Daemn K'rryl wasn't one to jump up and offer his services in the tracking down of criminals. It was against his nature to... what was that word? Apprehend the suckers and bring them back. For what? To face justice? To be chained away and rot in a cell, not dead but a senseless waste of Life? It was all too confusing for the jagara and something he didn't wish to try and comprehend. In his opinion, targeted felons should be hunted down, incapacitated and clinically killed on the spot. It made things so much easier, plus there was the bonus of an unworthy life being broken down to provide energy for a new creation.

However, they did pay quite well, and the katta was in need of some extra cash.

He entered the building quietly, neither looking nor talking to anyone. It was not strange that such a building needed such thick fortifications; after all, Daemn reasoned, they didn't want anyone to escape, did they? He had absolutely no knowledge of the Piper, whose poster hung like a trophy in the main Guildhall, and frankly even if he did he wouldn't have cared. Let others go after the dangerous nutters, others who had the brute force required to handle and subdue such an individual. The jagara snorted slightly, wrinkling his nose at the familiar - but not pleasant - odour of the orcs present, reaching into the pocket sewn inside his large cape.

Withdrawing an almost-empty carton of cheap cigarettes, Daemn silently put one to his mouth and reached out blindly behind him. The match he wielded scraped and ignited against the stone wall he was in front of, and as he applied it to the smoke he inhaled gratefully and leaned against the barrier. He did nothing for a minute or so, just watching the bustle and banter of the hunters as they came and went... just scoping out the location. It soon became apparent that the clerk at the front was in charge of this particular area.

Daemn casually slipped a paw inside the right-side pocket of his pants. Concealed within were three very important and very illegal documents - Visas. The katta had long since had the sense to aquire fake ID's, to supplement his real one when conducting business of a slightly unsavoury nature. He'd probably need one here, just in case - after all, if the tables turned and he suddenly found himself targetted by the Guild, then it would do him no good to have them know his real name. The Malician Guards hadn't asked to see identification when he entered, no-one had... he was starting on a clean slate, if needed. He had a specific order to the documents, as it would be a fine thing to riffle through pieces of paper in front of people...

Yeah. That one. The middle one.

The jagara stubbed the cigarette against the wall, dropping it behind him and striding casually forwards. As he reached the desk he leaned on it nonchalantly on a forearm, smiling at the clerk. "Ser, chica... lookin' for some work here, yah? Wha's on offer?"

ooc: sorry about not so good reply. shops i'm not all that good with...

The lady at the desk looked up at Daemn with a bit of a quizzical look in her eye. It had been a while since the guild had had any new visitors, what with the war, but since it had been over new arrivals at the city had begun a slow influx of traffic. This was good for the guild, who needed temporary hunters almost as much as they needed full fledged licensed hunters. The girl, the huntress, who sat before Daemn smiled when the jagara leaned against the table, her cheerful demeanor in contrast to the rest of the guild, most of whom seemed to be the strong, warrior types more than the boasting, talkative type. But that was also only at a rough glance, as all the Daemn could see here was the waiting area, like at a doctor's office. Not that the katta had probably ever seen a doctor's office. Or a dentist's office for that matter.

"Hmm well," she was saying coyly before pointing the pen in her hand at the katta who stood in front of her, "would you like to join? Or would you simply like a temporary license? There are a few bountyheads in that case, but you're limited to what all you can do with a temporary license. You could undergo the tests, and become a lifetime full fledged hunter here, if you want. Which would you like, sirrah?"

She was a pretty girl, in a kind of hybrid uniform that vaguely resembled a naval or military uniform of some kind. On the left shoulder was the crest of malice, and on the right was the insignia of the bounty hunter's guild. It was a nice jacket, grey and blue and very expensive looking. Her hat, a charming little beret, sat placently on her had as she shuffled through a list of papers written in ink in a mix of elven and charismean languages.

Daemn grinned, buffing his claws on his fur and inspecting them nonchalantly. "Tempr'y? Nah, no good, chica," he purred, wiping of bit of dirt from his cloak. He didn't want to just have a temporary licence that would run out an an inopportune moment, he wanted to this all now, right here, and not worry about technicalities again. "I lookin' for a full license, somet'in' to tide I over for long time."

His slight smile wavered for a split second as a thought hit him - he'd given his real name to the person in The Barrel. Still keeping up an indifferent demeanour he relaxed as thoughts coursed their way through his brain. Using another name here would not be too much of a problem, he could just say that 'Daemn' was his fighting alias.

This thought took about a picosecond. Though his broken speech might have belied it, the jagara was quite bright. People automatically assumed that foreigners were stupid because they could speak the language properly... hah, well, they'd have another thing coming to them. Daemn leaned down and grinned toothily at the attendant.

"Sign I up."

The girl paused, not sure what to make of the katta's accent, but finally figured it really didn't matter. He seemed like a flighty type, one who wouldn't be around too too much, so making sense of things would only serve a limited purpose.

"Right then. Just sign here and," she leaned over the desk and pointed to the left, to a door,"go down the hall until you see a room marked with the guild's insignia on it. It's a gold crown with three swords through it."

The Huntress smiled and passed him a sheet of parchment and a quill pen.

Daemn frowned, pulling the piece of paper towards him. While he may not have been able to speak the language that well, Common was easy enough to read and write. You could get all the information you needed without the confusing accents and dialects, plus you could do it at your own speed. He grasped a quill in a furry black paw, dipping it in the ink before hovering it over the dotted line. He scanned the document quickly, checking to see if there were any hidden clauses or restrictions he should know about. Satisfied, he made his mark quickly, in a surprisingly neat and angular script. A human may have wondered how a wilderkatta's calligraphy would become so rigid and flawless, right up until they were shown katta runes.

Lothaer Gaun

Not his real name, of course, just for his own paranoid security. He already planned to make a runner if it turned out that he became General and the post didn't suit him. It'd help his situation an awful lot to give them the name of a dead ratta. The real Lothaer Gaun had been chained up in a sidechamber of the Temple of Jalat in Medonia, and it had been simple enough to attain a Visa with that name. Marking the signature with a flourish and a dot, he smiled and set the quill down, striding down the hall towards the door that the Huntress had described.

ooc: woo sorry I guess I got all caught up in the tournament and forgot about this -_-

"Hey, kid," the voice said as Daemn lay a hand on the door and began to open it, "better not open that door..." but it was already too late. The black little paw had pulled free the obstacle blocking his path into the perscribed room he had been directed to. In an instant, the unlucky black cat found himself flung against the wall, his back aching, with something sort-of-heavy-but-not-quite clinging to his chest. A head. It popped up, looking at him. A charming face, human, but still charming nonetheless.

His eyes were like golden butterflies, flighty and shimmering and utterly magnificent to behold. The radiated within bright white pools, surrounded on all sides by a sea of lovely white flesh. Blue and blonde locks of hair fell in heavy strips about his eyes and a smirk had crossed his soft, pink lips. It was then that Daemn realized he was stuck. Pinned against the wall. Looking down, he'd discover that not only was the guy clinging to him, but pressing him against the wall so that he was unable to even move his torso in the slightest. His arms and legs were free, but the man's arms coiling around him, crossing in his back and somehow digging into the wall.

He was still smirking when he said "told you not to open that door..." he was grinning when he planted a playful bite on the katta's wet nose and released him, swinging his arms out wide as if to embrace the world, "yes, quite sweet, and charming too. Humm lemme guess, you're name is Gaun right? Am I right? Of course I am, well come on, let's get this show on the road." he reentered the room, waving for Daemn to follow. Looking back he could see a crack in the wall where he had been forced to assume the position. Still hurt...

Inside the room was beautifully furnished. A wooden, circular table stood in the middle with two chairs, one at each end. Many plants and some spectacular lighting graced the sides of the room.

"Romaer Calitz is my name," Calitz said with a small and courteous bow, "please, won't you have a seat? I've got some questions for you, Gaun."

What had Daemn gotten himself into...?
