(Quest) walking on the dangerous path of the turtle

Sundown had momentarily lost the human he was following and to his dismay it looked as though he was not finding him again, he pulled of his hood and went to sit on a small bench that was standing just a few yards away from him. As he approached the bench his ears caught the end of yet another conversation this again was about the wish giving turtle's heart or the treasure that the shell holds.
It was all beginning to make sundown’s head spin the way the story never changed and how the people around him were buying into it completely, he actually began to believe it true himself what if he could find this heart he could undo the night his wife was killed or better still make his life be free of guilt and distress.

He pulled out a tiny copper ring from his pocket the last thing left of his wife he stared plainly at it for what seemed like an eternity until someone began yet another conversation about the turtle. He paused. looked at the ring and then threw it from him, it was time he let go and time for him to move on this rumor was going to cause harm to people and he was not going to let that happen he was going to look for this turtle and do what he must.

Sundown griffon stood up and left the bench without even looking in the direction he threw the ring. He wished raven was here and began to watch out for her shadow witch he was sure was following him. However he found nothing and continued on his path. Someone in this place knows information on this turtle and he was going to find them.

Sundown griffon was back and was following the dangerous path of the turtle….

Raven smiled as her old friend removed his hood. Creeping in closer she saw him turning the old copper ring in his hands. Instinctively her hand flew to her necklet, fingers closing around the cool, stone, bird.

A frown threw the smile from her face as the man threw his old wedding ring away before standing to leave. Raven shook her head and moved from her place.

Nearby she heard a conversation on turtles and their hearts being used for wishes. Her thoughts returned, as they often did, to Cole and his love for adventure and legend. She let her hand drop to her side as she followed Sundown, silently vowing that if he was searching for the turtle she would follow and lend her services. As always her loyalty lay with him and she was his unseen shadow.

Beneath the Ocean Blue

It would seem for Sundown that his wish immediately came true, for as he turned away fromt he direction where he tossed his copper ring, Raven stood seemingly waiting for her friend and companion. At this point, however, the duo would have heard enough rumors and stories and conversations about the Zaratans to have come up with some reasonable knowledge about the lore surrounding the majestic and gigantic creatures that roamed along the Trident Isles.

~ According to historical accounts, numerable shipwrecks have occurred around the usual migrating routes of the Zaratan between Jaedaxia's Trident Isles and the Northern and Southern routes leading to colder and tropical waters depending on the season and era. These shipwrecks, however, have been mostly attributed to 'reefs' and other seemingly mundane accidents. At least, that's what the shipping and trading companies claim.

The sailors and sea captains, however, tell a different tale.

The Trident Isles have always been known to be home to mysterious and magical creatures. Many talented magi, aspiring mercenaries, and curious intellectuals have ventured into the Isles in search for rare animals, hidden artifacts, and guarded secrets of civillizations long lost and forgotten by time.

Rumors have it that an unspeakable terror also lurks beneath the soft, calm waves of the Trident Isles. A sea snake so large, so powerful that is is said to be capable of consuming entire ships with its massive jaws. This horror has wrecked havoc upon local fishermen and whalers for centuries. But no proof has ever surfaced regarding the creature's existence. In this way, rumors are discredited and called superstition; and any effort to bring to light any sea monster is prevented by 'representatives' from the shipping and trading companies who are typically thugs or mercenaries who threaten and sometimes even kill to protect their investors.

But with the suddenly spike in pirating in the oceans of Jaedaxia the private shipping and trading companies are loosing profits -- not only due to 'mysterious' shipwrecks, but also due to privateering and other criminal activity. And according to fishermen, the monster has become even more active as of late. Instead of hunting solely in the darkening, it is beginning to attack even in daylight.

sundown had heard that the various fisherman had infomation on these creatures and if he were to be very lucky he might be able to get a boat or some help in locating the turtle's oh well he thought he must head to the........ "wait a sec" he said to him self he turned sharply and then he saw her "raven" he said to him self again.

he waited for her to see him and then thought "my bow, my arrows, my longsword and the 5 coins i have in my pocket is all i need now she's here" "i guess now its an adventure" he said

Raven smiled when her friend turned around. She knew what the man was looking for and had a vague idea on what he was going to do next. She stepped forwards slowly, letting the smile fade. She wasn't exactly prepared for adventure with only her daggers and a few coins in her pockets but she'd never been one to turn it away when adventure came knocking.

"Turtle hunting?" She asked after Sundown mentioned adventure. She was more than a little sceptical on the legends but wherever Sundown went she would follow and try to limit the damage caused by the archer. "It's good to see you Griffon." She added the smile reappearing. "Where to now then O supreme archer?" Raven laughed shaking her hood from her head and looking up at Sundown.

While Raven and Sundown assumed to consider their options, there was something else occuring in the crowd of citizens atop the cobblestones. Between the whispers of rumor and the consistent news regarding the Zaratans, a trio of urchins were criss-crossing between bodies of people. They each had a set of fairly ragged clothes, their hair and demeanor reflecting their unkempt environment. These were the kids most mothers avoided when taking their own children to Schola; these were kids even the most humble citizen in Jaedaxia avoided for fear of loosing their purse.

Approaching Sundown and Raven, a boy of about eight or nine ordinations flicked him a look of utter arrogance before a grin broke over his face. "Ay, you're in mah way", he said. The two boys on his either side agreed, nodding sheepishly. Should Raven and Sundown look around, however, they would see enough space for the trio to simply walk around their current position without any major hindrance. "If you don't wanna start nuthin', you better move outta the way", the leader of the trio suggested ruggedly.

Raven's mouth quirked upwards slightly as she was approached by a trio of young, ragged looking boys; the clear leader remarking that she and Sundown were in his way. Silently she regarded the boy in front of her, eyes flicking across his young face and bright smile but she knew better than to be fooled by looks. That young boy could easily be a thief and many other things besides. Raven didn't want to judge him simply by his surroundings and attire so she stepped to the side.

"I do not 'want to start anything'." She smiled openly at the child, now clearly out of his path. "But I trust neither do you." She added, tactfully pulling a piece of her cloak to the side, revealing her smoke-blackened dagger as her smile faded. "Now if you don't mind..." Raven waved to the space in front of her, gesturing for the boys to pass.

But the trio of boys did not seem anywhere keen on obeying the girl before them. In fact, the lead youngster seemed to grin in amusement. He laughed then extended his arms outward, challenging the woman and her partner to some kind of match. "I do mind", he pointed out inching a little forward. His buddies, also eager to see some action, followed suit, flanking him in the same manner as before.

"I think you better get your boyfriend over here quick like", he added with a sneer, "before you hurt your little self messing around with the men."

Raven bristled at the child's words. She could feel the familiar rage rising but immediately pulled it back down, she could not afford to resort to old measures. Instead she smiled with the boys drawing her smoke-blackened dagger and began to flip it across and through her fingers. "I don't see any men here. Only three boys who think they can handle the world." Her smile faded as she registered the boy's last comment.
Raven shook her head at the leader of the trio. "And I can handle myself perfectly fine thank you." She stepped forwards to face the boy, dagger taking it's familiar place in her raised palm as she angled it downwards, towards the boy. "How about you?"

The lead boy twitched a little when Raven refused to step out of the way. Surely he would be respected on his terrain! The pair of chunky looking boys beside him raised their hands aggressively, turning into meaty fists. But the lead boy, as arrogant as he was, did not seem at all alarmed when a glint of metal revealed Raven's dagger. He did, however, make a tentative step backward perhaps to ready himself into a defensive stance.

Suddenly, he lashed out -- hoping to catch Raven in a sucker punch with a right hook. The pair of boys, wasting no time, threw themselves at Sundown in hopes of bringing the man down with their combined efforts.

OOC: OK I'll see what I can do....

Raven jerked backwards as the boys fist flew towards her. She vaguely registered his lackeys diving towards Sundown but she though even he could handle a couple of kids, hopefully without causing them serious damage.

Raven clenched her fist around her dagger, she didn't want to use it on a child, sighing slightly she resheathed it at her belt and settled into a combative stance with her fists raised and face set. "I don't want to hurt you kid." She told the boy, half-knowing he wouldn't listen but she felt obligated to say it anyway as she dropped to the floor, kicking her legs out in an attempt to knock the boy off of his feet.

In one swift motion, the lead boy opened his mouth to release a flow of obscenities before his legs gave out from beneath him. He fell, sideways, with a crack and an audible groan. He hadn't expected that from a little girl.

Sundown, on the other hand, was being bombarded with a furry of ... chicken punches. The duo of boys were probably just reaching puberty and hadn't the raw power they pretended to have. Each strike was like cake batter -- annoying but otherwise not deadly.

Raven smiled slightly as the boy fell to the floor, carefully she rested a boot on his chest. "So. Still think I'm going to 'hurt myself messing around with the men'?" She asked innocently, adding a little pressure to the foot on the boy's chest. "Call your boys off, I think Griffon's ticklish." She added recognising the hollow sound of weak blows hitting flesh.

OOC: Still no Sundown huh?

The lead boy stiffened silghtly as Raven placed her boot to his chest. There was no greater humiliation; at least not in his overly masculine rule book. He was defeated. By a girl. Grunting hesitantly he growled for the pair of boys to stop slapping around before he, himself, scurried backward and onto his feet. His eyes blazed in sheer hatred and annoyance for a second before darting away as quick as he could. The two boys were wise enough to follow behind him.

"That was quite impressive" came a nearby voice. Spinning around Raven would be the first to find a skinny old man with a snowy moustache and matching frizzled hair. Bronze skin covered the rest of his demeanor with a set of hazel colored eyes. He wore a thick cloak over a simple outfit which labeled him as some kind of fisherman. They were near the docks after all. He stood about a head shorter than Raven and even less compared to Sundown but the skinny fisher was clapping his tired hands together as if he had just seen the show of his life. "With moves like that, you could take down a Zaratan" he grinned "name's Shrim."

He extended his left hand and greeted both adventurers in kind then added, "what do you say about treasure and glory and fame?" he winked "you interested in getting rich and famous?"

OOC: Nope no Sundown

Apparantly his pc's broken...

Raven held back a quiet laugh when the boys scurried away. The laugh faded to a smile when she heard a voice behind her. She turned quickly, relaxing when she registered a skinny old man, clapping. Shrim, he told them a smile on his tanned face. Raven felt her own smile grow as she looked at the fisherman. " Thank you. I'm Raven." She said shaking the offered hand politely.

"Rich and famous is more Sundown's style." She added, shooting a sideways glance towards the archer. "Glory however... I don't suppose you know where we could find the Zaratans, Shrim?" It was a long shot that the man would help them in their search but still Shrim had mentioned the Zaratans first.
