2nd darkening Kalendryas of Winter, Era I of the Celestine Mandate, Era XV Post Fractum.

All was quiet around Saka as he took a seat in the empty classroom, it was the second night of winter and he was in school after the sun was far gone for awhile. He worked here part time and said he needed to get more work done for his Master Rayra Siros. She was an odd one but he did not mind that, he was not prefect.

He had his eyes shut, thinking slowly clearing his head. One word he kept his goal on to fill every thought he could use. Clara. That one word held so much meaning for him and other mages, it meant that they could enter a state of mind to cast there spells.

He was tired, not in the sense of his body but tired overall with people able to beat him and he could not call upon this state fast enough to really make a difference. Combat was just a laughing topic to a mage that just learned this stuff, few mages here really fought he saw then again this island was peaceful.

His Master knew he would be here, he told her to meet him and help him if she could. She gave him her books and scrolls but first he needed some source of light. Normally one would use torches but he would use the glowing sphere. A sphere that would be small but very bight that was made out of fire. It would float around him giving him more then enough light needed for his tasks ahead.

He would really not leave until he knew all he could and was pushed past his breaking point or at least close to it. Clara...Such a powerful word to him.

Rayra met with her assistant slash pupil and sat by her desk and tilted her pretty head.

"What brings you here? I don't have documents or tomes for you to sort? You wish to learn more from me, is that it?" Rayra reached clara and snapped her fingers, playing the mana to craft a spell of dancing fire by her fingertips. She shot at Saka like a gun and the fire danced by his feet before it became nothing but gray smoke.

Her spell broke him from clara as he was more or less shocked out of it from her shooting a small fireball spell at him. he hated the fact that the smallest things could break him from that state.

"I want to learn to get better, I need to know how to enter Clara faster without the simple things to break it like what you just did." He said as he looked at her once more trying to clear his head to craft his spells.

"Practice makes perfect Saka. There are no magic pills you can eat or with a snap of your finger can you enter clara quicker. An apprentice of elementalism can enter clara within one to two minutes. You at the moment enter clara anywhere from five minutes to ten minutes, am I right? The secret to reaching clara quicker is to meditate and practice. Alright? How much have you been practicing? If you wish, we can start apprenticeship training with you."

Saka did not answer for awhile, just sitting there lost in his own thoughts. Truth was he did not really practice all that much, so why was he not happy with his own skills if he did not put forth the time and effort it took to become better.

"No, I do not want to start that yet, I am just not ready in my own soul." He said as he started to meditate, it would take him awhile but once he would enter clara he would light up the area then keep leaving and entering it casting an spell each time until he could not anymore.

He knew what he had to do once the sun woke once more.

Rayra just sighed, he was her student one of many she had yet everyone of her students would jump at the idea of becoming an apprentice yet even if that was what he was looking for he did not take the offer. Such a odd child.

"Enter your Clara and read this book of arcane, it gives an idea what most Initiate's can do as you did not pick the spells like most. You won't be able to light any lights so think outside the box." She said as she handed him an small worn black book.

A quick study of the title page told Saka that the book contained five spells:

Earth Spike
Elemental Grasp
Elemental Shock
Glowing Sphere
Inner Radiance

It was difficult to tell if the book had been written by hand of it it had been printed. The letters were exceptionally neat, but did not seem exactly uniform either. Something about the book seemed alive, or at least vital, as it sat in Saka's hands.

Such a odd book he thought as he read what each spell did and looked like, it was less then words really and more of feelings as he read each letter as if it could be showing him. Such a odd book with no title he thought maybe she would let him keep it for later use.

He shut his eyes thinking of Clara, breathing slowly in and out thinking of how the ground would break sending spikes upwards, how the fires would twist and turn burning away life, how raging waters would let it rain upon the lands and how cold ice would stop the tallest foe in there path.

Inner Radiance a spell that would keep him safe with an cloak of flames almost as he thought about diffrent things that envoked the fire plane of thought with him. To Saka the planes were clam yet at the same time nothing but pure chaos and mages help formed that chaos into art.

No words left his lips as an small light color aura slowly warped around his body, He did not even feel the change along his skin as he opened he eyes slowly after finding his Clara.

His mind taking note of the feel of pulling and forming of Vis and ara to form mana which he then used to cast the spell. He still did not know all what went on just knew how to like breathing and living. The aura around him was on everything and everyone no matter dead or alive really. A white shade almost moving like small flames.

Rayra watched Saka work with interest. At last she said "Please don't forget yourself and try Elemental Spike in here, that spell is for outside only. Or at least not inside a place I'm interested in. Why don't you cast Inner Radiance for me?"

He nodded as he thought about the spell, it was as if everything just clicked in place as a hot wind warped around him. His aura became a deep crimson red cloak as if flames warped around his body. Anyone could see the change now as it was no longer only confined to vis or aras that mages could sense or see.

He slowly moved his fingers as the flames danced along his skin. "So this is Inner Radiance, a spell that can keep me safe from harm and harm any person in question who touches my skin only for a short period of time." He said as he made a mental note in that book.

"That's the thing!" Rayra said brightly. "But do mind the curtains, I wouldn't want to have to replace them. You will find this to be a very useful spell, it rather enforces pacifism on people who might otherwise wish to do you harm, or even remove ropes you happen to be tied up with. Do not use it to warm your brandy until you've become more profecient, that is my advice."

"Why don't you try Glowing sphere next?"

He knew this spell, a orb of fire or ice light color that would give off light and warmth or a cool air and he could move it with just thinking about it. He knew this spell from there first meeting as he breathed in and out going back into Clara.

It took less time this time, 6 or 7 minutes really before he saw the white colors around everything and him. Soon afterwards a fire like orb formed in thin air near his head giving off a small bright light that also gave off a soft warm heat.

"There you go," Rayra said. "Why don't you take a little rest, and then do Elemental Shock for me. Here." She handed Saka a mug of tea. "Why don't you freeze this tea. But take your time, hurried work makes for sloppy learning."

They always did not see eye to eye, maybe it was just a normal classroom and he dislike normal classrooms. He knew the spell and once more clear his mind as he drinked the tea. It was cold but the cold helped him think more or less.

Sliping his thoughts away he once more got to clara within what felt like the same amount of time. Blues, whites, red lights warped around every object living or dead as he opened his eyes, pulling and mixing the Vis and aras in him he formed the needed mana for his last spell for awhile.

Without even really thinking about it but knowing how to do he pushed an surge of the elemental energy into the cup, the heat from the force heatting the cup and letting the tea boilng slightly.

Rayra examined the boiling tea in Saka's hand. "Not exactly frozen there, but good job nonetheless. Well...that is three spells, and it is best if you do not attempt to cast any more today. Why don't we meet outdoors tomorrow where you can let your magic run free and not worry about damaging my classroom? Perhaps we will walk the beach, if the weather is nice."
