Seeking out a Mysticist (open)
Brightening 2 of Kalendryas
Autumn of Era II, Era XI PF
Midday
Gaining a visa was simply far too much trouble. Rialyn had decided this the moment she had stepped back on to the grounds of the Universitas, still not sure whether or not she really wanted to find a mysticist here. Though the girl did not know exactly what the sphere of magic involved she certainly had some ideas, considering that she had been asked to go and find one.
"Mysticist or not, this just may not be a good idea," she said aloud, stopping before the great three-headed beast monument that stood in the exact center of the triangle created by each of the three areas. Looking up, she followed the gaze of the almost dragon-esque head to the buildings she had visited only the month prior when seeking out her own training. Sighing, she brushed a strand of hair behind her hair, one of the few that had escaped the tight braid the locks were currently bound in.
Taking a seat at the base of the statue, she continued staring at the building, trying to build up the courage to do what she had to do. The fact of the matter was that she was almost happy not knowing about her past. The Gods must have had some reason for stealing those memories from her. Perhaps it was for the best. "Still...they could have at least let me know my last name..." she muttered, fisting a hand in the hem of her blouse, very much frustrated by the direction this was all going in.
She sat there like that for a while, not even sure how to go about finding a practicioner of that specific sphere if she ever did decide to get up and go in. Well, perhaps they'll read my thoughts and come to me, she thought sarcastically, finally tearing her eyes from the buildings and turning them to the bright sky instead.

Keydall felt light-headed. Her lesson today had gone relatively well and though they were always tiring, she always felt better afterwards. It didn't matter that she somewhat despised her teacher - she respected Mistress Laria for what she could teach her. And what she was learning was impressive and exciting, and so she put up with the woman as best she could. She now understood exactly why Mistress Dominique had seemed to hate the Mystic as well.
Had Keydall been able to sing (it was one of the few areas where she had no talent whatsoever) she would have been humming. Instead, she simply strode past the statue. There was a bit of bounce in her step that normally was lacking, but other than that one could hardly tell her good mood. Her face was set into stern, purposeful expression as per usual, her pace was quick and efficient, and she spared little more than a glance for others in the area. In short, she looked as though she belonged and knew exactly where she was going. She didn't wear the red-striped white robes of the magi of the academy - and her brown travelling clothing marked her as an outsider - but she looked as though she... fit, nonetheless.
If Rialyn was looking for a mage, this woman might at least know where one was.

The girl had turned her attention from the sky long enough to watch the various people who passed by, most ignoring her presence by the monument. Sighing as she watched yet another robed, supposedly a mage, man walk by, on his way back towards one of the three points of the Universitas.
"Stop putting it off any longer," she muttered to herself. It was a habit the black-haired girl found herself falling in to quite a bit lately. She jumped to her feet, perhaps a bit too quickly, as she almost lost her balance, stumbling forward over her own feet.
"A-ah! Serale!" She called out the greeting to the very first person she saw walking by, who, in this case, just so happened to be Keydall. She was unfamiliar to Rialyn, and judging from the dark coloring of her clothing she was not native to Demios. Well, at least that was one way Rialyn could relate. Her own clothing consisted of a deap blue cloak, white tunic, and black slacks. Her own taste of clothing seemed to be halfway between the bright colors of Demios and the darker shades the rest of the world seemed to enjoy.
"I was wondering if you could help me." She jogged the short distance over to the other woman, glancing nervously back at the school. "I'm looking for...anyone who practices Mysticism I guess. I just need them to give me a bit of help with something." She stopped her explanation there, not really wishing to explain her whole situation to a complete stranger, already suspecting that she would get next to nothing out of this whole attempt.
"Well, you seem to know your way around here," she said, looking up at the girl who stood a good few inches taller then she. "I was hoping you might know someone here."

Keydall was nearly charged into by an unknown woman, who looked more than unsuaully nervous. Sighing slightly - she hated to be interrupted - Keydall stopped, hand on her hip, discreetly sizing this intruder up. Dark clothing, human, female, and somewhat desperate in the way of conversation. However, she offered an oppertunity for more than momentary irritation, perhaps even target practice for her lessons.
"I practice Mysticism." Keydall said frankly, which was odd. Normally she avoided volunteering information - it was just good practice. "What sort of assistance do you need?" Her tone was brisk. While this might present an interesting oppertunity for expansion, it might also turn out to be a dead end. Diana knew this woman didn't look like much of interest... but who knew?

It was quite a shock to the girl to find that the very first stranger she ran in to and asked was actually, very possibley, one of the few people who could actually help her. Clapping her hands together, she took a step back, grinning up at Keydall.
"Well, it's really a type of legal matter I suppose. You see...I need to get a new visa, but I need someone to prove that I am just who I am, and...I really don't know anyone here." Unfortunately, it was not all that simple, and Rialyn honly hoped that this woman would be able to do what she asked; if she ever got around to actually asking that is.
"The woman at the Aedile's Office said I should try and find a student mysticist...mystic...Whatever you may call them," she shrugged lightly, crossing her arms now. "Unfortunately, there is one more bit of an issue...I...can't really remember my last name myself..." Letting out a sigh, it took her a minute to realize that she had just spoken the truth, outloud, to a perfect stranger. Strangely enough, the confession did not make the world end. "I don't know what you're really capable of, but...I really do need some identity."

OOC: Sorry for delays - backpacking and then a lack of internet in my new apartment.
IC: Keydall furrowed her brow, forgetting for the moment that it would cause her death in wrinkles later. "You don't remember your own last name?" She repeated, looking halfway between disbelief and deep concern. Shaking her head, the girl shrugged. "Well, if you want me to read your mind I'll do my best. But it might hurt. If your lack of memory is due to some sort of awful memory then it's anyone's guess as to what revealing it will do." Well, Keydall wasn't neccessarily certain that she had the capabilitie to reveal this memory, but the oppertunity presenting itself was very hard to resist.
"If you're still interested, I suggest we find some place comfortable. This sort of thing is hardly something you want done while you're standing up, and as you might well scream, I imagine a private place would be best."

"I don't remember it," she said forcefully, hoping that the mystic would actually believe her. She did not think the claim was all that far-fetched. Rialyn was sure that dozens of people probably lost their memories on a daily basis. Perhaps it's just not the kind of thing to happen in Demios. Still, Keydall did not exactly look like she was a native of Demios.
She continued to listen to the older woman talk, suddenly feeling less and less sure of herself. She had held off this little mission because she did not exactly care to have her past revealed to her. Ignorance was bliss after all. The woman's words did not comfort her any at all. Her resolve slowly vanished little by little, the idea of any kind of excruciating pain not exactly helping. The thought that the pain may be more mental then physical did not even cross her thinking process.
"Well, I guess I really have no other choice then. Can't do much without a visa, and I can't get myself one of those without an identity." She sighed quite visibly, not really liking her lack of options. "Well, how shall we start this then?" There was no thrill in her voice.

Ugh. Honestly, while the naivety of some folk gave her powers of manipulation an easy time of it, they certainly could be irritating in their perverse tendancy to refuse to listen. "As I said, I reccomend retreating to a .... quieter place." She said quietly. "In addition, someplace where you would be comfortable would be best - the more familiar the surroundings, the easier it will be to slip in and out of your memories. The more relaxed you are, the more pleasant it will be." While this was not neccessarily true, Keydall did need somewhere quiet and secluded to go about her magic. Granted, this was more because she wanted to use the woman as a guinea pig than due to a need to block out noises... like any self-respecting Journeywoman, she could cast spells with others around her.
But she got the feeling that having witnesses might not be the best plan... depending on what she planned on doing to her oh-so-willing victim.

Well, Rialyn could understand the thought behind Keydall's suggestion to get this whole process started. Still, that did not make it any easier for the girl to actually pick out some spot and take them there. For starters, Rialyn's sense of direction was absolutely horrendous. Even in a small town like Demios the girl seemed to have trouble remembering which direction on the street her home lay. How could this woman possibly expect her to find a quiet, comfortable place that she was familiar with?
"Ah, well..." She mumbled the words, tapping her chin with a slim finger, searching her memory for any place that fit the woman's description. Preferably one that she could find. "I suppose...anywhere outside of Demios among the trees." It was a vague enough location, and Rialyn did know that she was comfortable among the greenery on the island. "Although not too far..." she quickly added. The girl was not as comfortable with the thought of giant spiders nor getting themselves lost in the woods. "I really can't say I know anywhere in particular..." She murmured the words, her tone apologetic, very much embarrassed by her own inability to merely lead them to a certain locale.
"Somewhere in that direction I suppose?" She pointed her hand in a vague direction, past the entrance to the grounds, towards the road through Demios, and hopefully, eventually, to the woods beyond.

"That sounds... fantastic." Keydall said with a nod. "Come, we'll find some spot." The woman turned on her heel and strode immediately for the forest, not waiting to see if Rialyn was following. The forest was not so far, and finding a secluded spot far away from human ears was not so hard either; it was Autumn and few wished to play in the woods in this chilling weather. Keydall stopped in a slight grassy clearing and turned to regard the woman. Closing her eyes, Keydall breathed out slowly, shoving away concious thought until all that was left was herself and her magic.
Rialyn had made a slight mistake. While Keydall wasn't in the habit of killing women, she wasn't a nice person and she'd been waiting for a guinea pig to try out her spells on. As a journeyman she was now knowledgable enough in the ways of her art that she could begin to make new spells or recombine the ones she already knew. And her arts required targets... at least, the spells that Keydall preferred did. Rialyn was now stuck in the woods with a moralless scientist who fully intented upon experimenting.
Keydall reopened her eyes and focused on the woman before her. Using her own vis, she shaped the magic in the world around her, tying herself to Rialyn with strands of magic. Through these strands that connected the two, Keydall sent a command. It was a simple command for a simple spell, Suggestion, but Keydall was simply warming up. Sit. She told Rialyn and wated to see the reaction.
OOC: Do you want to find a moderator for this? According to this we can probably mod this ourselves unless I decide to make up a spell.

Rialyn nodded, following obediently behind the taller woman, trusting the other girl far more than was good for her. Perhaps she would not have been as trustful if Rialyn realized just what exactly being a mysticist entailed. Unfortunately, the girl's lack of knowledge and her rather naive nature was only throwing her in to a situation that may not be entirely healthy.
Well, hopefully this will all work out... She nodded to herself, eyes focused on the other's back, not quite sure what to expect from this. Still, as long as she could satisfy the Aedile and get her identity all sorted out than there was nothing to worry about.
So lost in her thoughts was she that she almost did not see Keydall hault. She managed to stop her own steps at the last moment, not wanting to run straight in to the other woman. She blinked in confusion, looking around curiously, wondering if this was the spot Keydall had chosen. No words were spoken and Rialyn was not quite sure just what to do with herself now.
Sighing, she shifted uncomfortably, trying hard not to stare at the other girl, waiting for her to do something. Well, whatever it was that kept the other so focused, she certainly was not one to interrupt. She did not want to anger the other girl after all, nor did she want to make a mess out of anything.
Still, I can't really just..stand here all day... As that thought passed through her mind, she slowly sank to the grass, sitting cross legged. One hand rested in her lap, the other absentmindedly picked at the grass around her. Well, whatever the other girl was doing, Ria really hoped she would turn to something a little more interesting soon.

Keydall smiled as she watched the girl sit down. Her work had been so subtle that the girl hadn't even realized that she was being given a magical order. Her teacher would be so proud. Now for the interesting stuff. Keydall closed her eyes again to regain the calming state of clara, then began to weave her second spell. She drew the ara around her, considering which spell she wanted to use. She'd already secured an excuse for herself with the idea of pain mingled with memories. Time to have some fun with this oh so willing target.
Concentrating her thought, she forced ara into every crevice of Rialyn's brain, suddenly, abruptly and painfully. The force of Psionic Shock, if it were successful, would overload the brain and cause something similar to a seizure. But these spasms would be filled with and due to pain. Her spell finished, Keydall lingered back and waited to see the effect of her spell, eager.
