Malinka's Initiate Elementalism

Two brightenings later from the brightening when Malinka paid 400 crowns in the University, a master was waiting for her in room 203. Fortunately or not this brightening was an extremely hot one, most people decided to stay at home where it was not as hot or to go to the beach and take a swim in the cool sea. However Malinka had her elementalism classes and master Nicholas had to teach them, so both of them were forced to endure the heat. Fortunately though the University's walls were thick and not all windows were big, so the air was quite cool in the inside.

Master Nicholas was a human of 67 patterns. He had white, short hair that were rarely ever combed. He had blue eyes that shined with wisdom and experience. A large scar ran along his whole left arm, which he got when summoning a Fire Elemental. Fire and Earth were his main Essences. Like all mages of the University he wore a white robe with red stripes going through the whole length of it that go rather well on his plump, but tall built and did a good job hiding the scar. It was him that waited in the room, looking outside the window.

As for the room, it was was one of the usual classrooms in the University. Just a few chairs, one desk and quite a few cupboards. On the ground there were quite a few pillows, probably for students to fall onto when the Unbinding technique knocked them out. The two windows were rather small and helped to keep the heat away. The room also had quite a few of Glowing Spheres hovering in the air and illuminating the place as good as candles would.

" Perfect," she thought, " Just bloody perfect." She was late, she knew it; the first day to make an impression on her soon to be master and she was already at a bad start. She knew she shouldn't have camped outside, she knew she wouldn't have woke up on time. But did she listen to her better judgement? Of course not, that would have been too simple.

She ran down the length of the hall searching for room 203. Sweat beads appeared on her forehead and arms, it was a warm morning as early as it was and that didn't help the fact that she had been running since she left her camp. Despite her lateness, the fear of being dismissed, the heat, and all her other promblems weighing on her mind right now the sea-elf couldn't helpbut feel a certain sense of excitment. Rather like child on the first day of school she wondered what was in store for her, if she didn't get rejected that was.

She whizzed by room 203 and came to screeched halt. She then turned around and ran through the door. Unforntunatly Malinka had never been any good at stopping, she tripped and landed into a pile of conventant pillows. She closed her eyesand thought, " I can't beileve this is happening! How many mistakes can imake in one day!?"

She saw her master standing with his back to the window, giving her a look of surprise and amusement. She stood up and tried to catch her breath, " Sorry for being late, won't happen again." She took a deep breath and said, " I'm Malinka Bansudos. I'm here for Intiate elementism as you've proably already guessed," she looked down feeling quite stupid at this point then looked up again; locking her mismatched eyes with the man's icy blue ones.

OOC: Your post made me laugh for a long while!

Nicholas looked at the girl in shock. His eyes were wide as if they belonged to some hippo instead of an allerian. Then he ran his hand across his face as if with that gesture he could remove all the worries. It didn't however and he was still starring at the girl that was speaking as if she was on fire. And of course he knew that this was a hot brightening and that running could make one sweaty, but this girl... she was on fire. "You know... I think the element in which you'll exceed will be fire..." His soft voice spoke the first words.

That said he went to Malinka, took her hand without a warning and kissed it like a gentleman. "A pleasure to meet you, poppet." For someone new such a name might have sounded weird, but for those who knew the master such a name did not even register after a while. The master called everyone poppets, heroes and all other such names. That said he went to te table and sat down. "No need to worry and I'm sure it won't. Please take a seat." His wrinkly hand waved at the pillows that were on the ground. They were mainly for students who were going to be Unbound. For that usually sent them into a deep sleep and sleeping on the ground was not such a sweet thing.

"So you've chosen elementalism, my dear, care to tell me why this sphere and why arcana in the first place? I'm sure there are many more places where a young woman like you could spend her money." It was a question which the master asked half from curiousity, half from duty. All of the masters had to ask this. Since making mages that had goals as setting the province on fire was not something they wanted to be known for. Other than that, some students provided really interesting answers, while others gave a touching story. Now it was Malinka's turn to tell her own.

(OCC) Oh good lol

Fire...

She smiled.. she liked that. Of course, she would like to have at least basic skills with all the elements but fire... that suited her. She immedatley liked Master Nicholas, he projected a feeling of warmth and wisdom that she had not seen for many cycles. The sea-elf almost giggled out loud when he kissed her hand without warning. Not in rudeness of course but because she had never been treated that way before it made her happy. She smiled at the man once again took his advice and sat down not too far from where she had made her oh-so-graceful entrance.

She thought before she answered his question. How could she put something like that into words. ? She closed her eyes and tried to put as honestly as possible,

" Why to further my knowledge," she said as if it where the simplest thing in the world. " My entire life I've been curious about well.... everything. Magic and elementism is one of those things." She stopped there not knowing how else to describe her intense desire to learn. She hoped he understood, she hoped he saw what she could not convey with words. Se closed her eyes and remembered something her mother always said. More often than not Malinka , great things come from humble origins and m-dear your origins are about as humble as they come. The sea-elf simled at that, she remembered how her mother laughed at that and then quieted looking at her only daughter with hope and conviction burning in her dark eyes.

Malinka straightened her back placed her hands on either of her knees and smiled , " So, when do we begin? "

"I see." The master smiled. Not as interesting a story as his last student gave, but he was happy. He knew that he took arcana without having a good reason at all back all the patterns ago. "You probably know that there are mages that can simply cast spells and that you simply can't do it. A lot who don't know much about arcana, wonder why and try in vain to create a fireball in all kinds of ways, usually getting nothing more than a headache. That is simply because all people are born with their minds locked from the magics of this world and can not access the powers that are there. Do you understand?"

The master explained and waited for the girl to answer. "Now there are a lot of people who simply can not be Unbound or in other words granted the ability to cast spells. And there's nothing they can do about. No one really knows why they can't, but most of the times it is because of their age. Usually those who start arcana above teenager age go not far or can't even start. We'll see how this will go with you. I also must warn you, that sometimes Unbinding may 'cause bad results. You might end up with a headache or something worse." On the something worse, the master was silent. There were occurances when people even died through the process, even if they weren't exactly common.

"If you are ready. Then we shall try to grant you these powers. Are you now?" The master asked the girl and waited for her response before doing anything else. Unbinding could not be rushed. Oh of course it could, but there was no need to rush it in classes. Besides Malinka paid for them and so Nicholas was going to treat everything slow and smoothly. After all he did not want insane elementalist running around the town setting everyting on fire. Not that he did not dream of doing it himself of course.

She listened queitly as the Master talked , never taking her eyes off of him. Fear shot through her as he talked about people who couldn't be unlocked. What if she was one of those people! That would mean that she had come here for nothing, that she was inferior, that she was useless.

"No," she thought, " I won't let fear eat me alive." With resolve and determantion as her tools she buried her fears, took a deep breath and said " I understand."

He countined, warning her about possible pain she smiled at that, " I have no fear of pain or death sir, foolish as that may sound. I am ready." Her last statement seemed to ring in her pointed ears, for once she had no idea what was going to happen next.

"Then we shall begin, braveheart." The master said with a smile, happy that his student did not fear arcana, nor its possible consiquenses. People with fear were better of with thaumathury, or so he thought. "Now try to relax and you'll feel something wonderful wash over you." There weren't going to be any rituals, nor dances, nor chanting. Most of the things in arcana were done by the mind, by the thoughts and feelings. It rarely ever took gestures, words or specific times, however there were things that needed even that.

For a while Malinka could not feel anything at all, and then there was something in her mind. She could not really explain the feeling, something between something being squeezed into her brain and pulled out at the same time. This wasn't really painful and even if it was she had no time to realize this, for the next moment her mind completely shut off and the girl fell down on the pillows unconscious. The master was still sitting where he was moments ago, watching at the girl lie on the pillows, sleeping and for sure dreamind. He took a deep, silent breath watching her chest rise and fall with her breathing, waited a few moments longer and then left the room.

The master returned a candlemark later, most of the students fell into a dream which lasted from one to a few candlemarks at least. He saw Malinka still asleep, but she was already waking, no longer dreaming. As for what she dreamed... no one but Malinka could tell. Unbinding dreams were spectacular and unpredictable. Sometimes they showed the past, sometimes the possible future, sometimes a wish come true, sometimes even gods seemed to speak to the newly unbinded mages. Anything was possible. This was the Unbinding Dream. Unique for every person and just as unpredictable. The master waited for Malinka to wake up with a cup of tea in his hands, which he made in the spare candlemark and spoke to her once she fully woke up. "How are you feeling my dear?"

OOC: Feel free to describe the dream however you wish. It can be absolutely anything, but it will be just a dream Have fun!

(OCC) Sorry about the length. Started and couldn't stop! Once again sorry to put you through all that reading

".......you'll feel something wonderful wash over you." She didn't feel anything at first. She waited a beat and was about to say something when she felt something pull at her. Like an over eager child demanding attention. Darkness fell over her and her eyes suddenly rolled back into her head and she passed out onto the welcoming pillows.

The she was floating underwater, it's suppressive quiet and calm all around her. For a moment she panicked and struggled, thrashing around in the water; lungs burning her mind racing. Then she felt her body relax as her gills opened and supplied her with oxygen. She then took a moment to look around, trying to understand were she was. She saw nothing but beautiful blue in every direaction she looked . She smiled, this is were she belonged, everything in her being told her that this was right. She swam around, playing in the water, becoming one with it, letting it possess her, and enjoying herself entirely too much.

The she happened to look up and see a blinding light penetrating through the dark water. It seemed to call to her beckoning her. Her own curiosty got the better of her, the half-thelera swam upwards leaving her underwater playground behind.

She broke the surface of the water and let out an impassive sigh as her gills closed and she began breathing normally. She pushed her clinging wet hair out of her eyes and once again she found herself looking around. It was dark, she waited for her eyes to adjust and looked for the light that drew her to the surface. High above her far off to her right it was waiting, so she swam. Malinka didn't know how long she swam but she stoppped suddenly just as her muscles started to ache. She stoopped at a shore to a large island. She got out of the water and went further into the strange island , following the ever present light.

She found herself in a small grove of trees. The grove, she had to admit, was the most amazing most beautiful place she had ever seen. She had been to the depths of the Naturain forests, seen the mountains around Nexus Prime, and gasped at the beauty of the Fire Isles; but all that compared to this they seemed nothing more than a second hand copy. The colors were brighter and more intense. The air was cleaner and clearer, somewere in the distance she could her music and laughter. The sights, smells, sounds were all enchanting and strange to her. There were three large oak trees in the very center of the grove. Each tree was in varying degrees of life, one was young and healthy looking, while another was one the brink of death decay throughout its trunk and the last one falling somewhere between the two. In the center of each of the trees gnarled is a mirrior clouded over. She steps closer to the healthest looking tree and the fog clears ans she sees a familiar scene played out:

She is four years old sitting on a small stool her small hands clenched. Her father sits before her. He is a tall man with pale skin, long inky blank hair, black eyes, and a proud smile on his face. A needle is in his hand as he tattoos his young daughter's face. Quite sounds of comfort escape his lips as he countines with his work. He knows he is hurting her, he also knows that this is a nessary pain. a single tear slides down her face, " Papa why do I have to do this? It hurts so much!" The man stops in his work and looks at his daughter seriously, " Why would you say that little one ?" His voice is like water lapping on the shore. " Because it does! Can you please stop" The girl is one the edge of tears. " Little one, this is a part of who you are. This is the mark of my people," he paushes ,"Our people, you must be proud of who and what you are no matter what do you understand? " The little girl nods sets her jaw and lets him countinue. As he works he sings a slow haunting lullaby to relax her. The scene fades.

Tears come to the half-telera's eyes, she didn't even know she remebered that. But now it all came rushing back with painful accuracy. She sniffs loudly and moves to the next mirror. The fog rolls back as she appraoches:

She is fourteen years old sitting in a dim room lit only by a single candle, she is trying not to falls asleep. In the center of the room is a bed, her mother is sleeping. The slow movement of her chest as she breaths seems to get slower and slower with each passing moment. Sweat is pouring off her body, her normally olive color skin is pale, she is cold to the touch despite the nurmouse blankets piled ontop of her thin body. Her eyes suddenly snap open and she looks around wildly. She opens her mouth to speak but her daughter is already at her side, " What is it Mother? Do you need water?" The women shakes her head and gestures for her daughter to listen. Her voice in barely a whisper, " I'm dying Malinka, But your not alone," The girl is on the edge of tears she's been holding back for weeks, " Don't say that mother you'll be fine," The women shakes her head again, " Listen, I don't have much time, " she paushes a look of pain passes over face. "Not alone, your not alone. Father your father still alive," she reaches for the thin chain and pulls out her necklace. She hands it to Malinka, "Belonged to your father. You have to believe Malinka my pet he loved you he had to leave. But you must you must , " she coughed violently. " You must find him, the charm is the key follow your instincts. I know you can do it. " She stopped and looked at Malinka, her hand touched her duaghters face, " Oh my girl, I hope you can forgive me one day." A distant look came to her eyes, a second later she collasped in her daughters arms. Sounds or despair echo in the small room. The scene fades.

Malinka wipes her face takes a shuddering breath and moves to the next mirror. When she gets there nothing happenes the mirror is broken. Large cracks spread out from the middle like a so many fingers. Maybe she did something wrong? She reaches out to touch the broken mirror but the instant she does she is thrown backward, hits hard wall. and falls into a broken heap.

She looks up to find herself surrounded by cold mist and white light. Her vision is blurry at first, she sees two figures outlined by the blinding light. She stands up and she sees who stands infront of her. Shock freezes her she gasps a little to loudly. Infront of her are two women. One stands a little shorter than the other, her raven hair falls to her waist. Surrounding her is what seems to be smoke but on closer look one would notice that they are flicker images wrapping around her like ivy on a tree. She is Kaimela, the goddess of dreams. The other is what shocks Malinka the most, her white wings unfurled, her wise benevolent eyes full of warmth and a touch of amusement. On her brow sits the Aethercrown, in her right hand is the mighty sowrd of Ioannes. the Goddess Diana. She approaches Malinka her eyes trail over the sea-elf and she smiles. The half-thelera is frozen, parlyzed in the presence of her gods. The women touches Malinka in the center of her forehead, sparks fly and a intense burning sensation washes through her. "You are given a gift Malinka Bansudos, daughter of the the land and sea. Use it well, now awaken!"
Malinka sits up and sees Master Nicholas intently watching her with a cup of tea in his hands. Her hand flies to her forehead she doesn't feel anything so she assumes nothing is there. " It was just a dream," she says so low so that only she can hear. " So how are you feeling my dear? " Master Nicholas says . She looks at him her attention brought back to reality. She answers, " Oh Master Nicholas! It was amazing," she paushes looking for the right words," Alive and blessed Master Nicholas." She says this with such conviction that she even scares herself.

OOC: Nice dream! And I don't mind long posts, I do them long quite often too and I enjoy reading descriptive ones *hugs* And just a tip, try writing in Past Tense, practically everyone does that

"I'm glad it was! It almost always is. One of the best things that happen to a mage through his whole training." He paused there and scratched his chin "It is however a dream and not reality. Once in a millenium it might be more than just a dream, but most of the times, it is just that. All mages have different and all amazing dream. I'd say half of them dream of gods, while a lot of others dream of the past. But that is not important. The important thing is that it was wonderful for you and you should treasure it." Master Nicholas offered a warm smile and took a sip of his tea.

"Unbinding is what lets you access the magical energies and magical planes. What we'll learn this brightening and quite possibly a few others, is how to access them. Now that we have the power, we just need to learn how to use it." He spoke and spoke like a real university teacher, much like in classes of younger children, even if this was arcana. "The only way to see the magical plane and to get components of spells from there is by going into Clara. And Clara is called a state of mind when the mind is completely clear of all thoughts, feelings and worries. Equanimity or trance perhaps. Only Clara is the key to concentrating and casting later on. So to reach clara you need to meditate. Monks and priests do this quite often, but if they are Bound, then they can not reach Clara or cast spells."

There he stood up and walked to a few candles that were in the room. With a snap of his fingers a few globes of fire lit up in the air, small ones, but hot enough. He guided them to the candles and lit them all, walking from one to the other. "These candles set an aroma to the room which will help you calm down, relax and concentrate. The heat is not too distracting now either, so you have no things to distract you. Apart from your own thoughts, poppet." That done he went back to his chair and sat down. Taking a few more steps and quite enjoying teaching the young girl.

"So, try to calm your mind, try to seek peace, your inner calm. Don't struggle, but instead calm your mind from all thoughts. Make everything vanish. Seek Clara - your inner calm. And don't be afraid if you won't be able to do this today or even this cycle. Initiates struggle a lot till they reach Clara the first time. Once they are no longer magic virgins, they can do it much, much easier the next time. So. Give it a try, ask anything that's on your mind, poppet." With another warm smile, Nicholas waited for Malinka to start Meditating, the first technique of all new mages. Only after that arcana was possible to use.

The thelera listened and watched as her Master lit the candles, a calming air filled the room what was that scent ? Lavender, jasmine, maybe both? It didn't matter she had to focus on the matter at hand. Meditating that sounded easy enough, it was the Clara part that worried the half-elf. " What do I have to lose? " she thought, " Its worth a try anyway." She sighed letting her breath out slowly, sat up striaght , placed both hands on either knee, and closed her eyes.

"Quiet your mind," she thought. That meant no thoughts about anything like food or men or if she could do this or not or where she had left her flask. She struggled , " No! None of that!" She shook her head in frustration trying to erase such thoughts. Had she feed her horse before she left? She could remember getting the grain out but... Ugghhh. Peace clarity of mind, she once knew a girl named Claire a bit stupid always good for a laugh though. She shook her head again. "Inner peace," she thought. She remembered a monk she had met on the road told her she had a monkey mind always bouncing from one place to another. A smile twitched on her lips and she lost her focus again. "Stop it now.........Deep breaths," she told herself, " Focus on your breathing."

In and out, in and out a repeative cycle. Rise and fall, deep in and out. Suddenly everything treating her focus faded to the edge of her mind. In and out. Her body relaxed, she didn't appear quite as rigid as before. She was deep inside herself now searching for Clara. Nothing happened. Fifteen minutes or so had passed and while her focus was still intact she couldn't find Clara , she didn't even know were to look.

It was then, when she had stopped looking that she found it. Like a warm blanket, it incircled her. Gathering her up, filling her with calm quiet tranquilty. She found contentment like she had never known before. Her restless heart was at ease, her wanderlust was far away, worries and troubles seemed small and trival now.

She opened her eyes and smiled. In a lower calm voice she said, " What do I do now Master?"

Just when Malinka managed to reach the state of Clara she lost it at basically the same time. The Master only smiled warmly when he spoke. "First rule for all Initiates. Meditating takes time and you'll need to spend at least a month with constant practise till you'll be able to manage anything better than ten minutes. And I am sure that you won't make it faster than in five, you need to have a stronger connection to the arcane world that you could. And you will if you'll ever become an apprentice. Still. I congratulate you. You managed to reach Clara in the first brightening! That is wonderful and I am very proud. It took you just three hours. Congratulations poppet."

Three hours was indeed the time that Malinka had to spend Meditating till she succeeded. And it did not fly. "Now, you're probably wondering why you lost Clara so fast? That is simple. You are an Initiate my dear and keeping Clara is hard. Distractions simply kick you out of Clara. You can't be totally in peace with the world and with a clear mind, when you want to talk as well. In order to be able to keep Clara and do something else, listen, talk, walk, you need to train. Paladins for example spend a lot of time training to keep Clara while fighting. After patterns of practise they master this. If they know how to juggle, they could juggle and create spells at the same time." The master let out a small lough and looked out the window.

"Well... it is getting late, you need rest. I want you to go on on yourself for a few brightenings and return to me when you'll be able to reach Clara within fithteen or ten minutes. If you practise a lot each brightening, I'm sure I'll have you back here by the end of the cycle. Now I'm afraid I can not wait for hours. Also, remember that you should not do anything else with the arcana world without me. Practise just Meditation. Alright, poppet? Then I'll tell you what to do next." With that he offered the girl a hand and guided her out of his office. "Don't forget calming atmosphere. I'm sure you can buy some incense or drinks in Demios market." And then unless Malinka had anything to add, they parted their ways till the next lesson.

Her heart sank and she knew before the master said it. She had lost Clara as soon as she had found it. How frusrating. Even worst she had taken three hours just to get there whata waste of her master's time. She tried to keep her dissapointment from her face. Her Master's words saved her though. Proud he said and that was all she needed.

She listened carefully to his words taking everything he said in. Then it was time to go. He asked her to train and she intended to do so. She said good bye to Master Nicholas and walked back through the town.

She didn't return for four days. She asked Duck for the extra time off and he didn't mind as long as didn't complain about the pay raise. Those days were spent practicing meditation form the time she woke up until late afternoon. Slowly she started reducing the time it took for her to reach Clara. On the last day she reached Clara in ten minutes under heavy strain. The rest of the day she spent refining her meditation technique until it was no trouble at all. Thats when she knew she was ready to return.

She walked into room 203 and wasn't suprised at all to find Nicholas standing by the window with his usual cup of tea nestled in his hands. She smiled brightly at him as he turned to face her, " Hello Master Nicholas." With that she sat down on the wonderfully welcome pile of pillows. " I've been training like you asked Master," she paushed, " And I'll prove it." She grew very quite closed her eyes and concetrated. Five ten minutes passed she reached Clara. She could only hold it for a few moments but soon lost it. She opened her eyes and smiled again waiting for her master to answer.

Master Nicholas watched the woman try and reach Clara. She had confidence, she had a goal and she had some experience. To the master's pleasant surprise Malinka managed to reach clara within just seven minutes. "Wonderful. Wonderful." The master praised with a smile on his face, watching Malinka as the woman still managed to stay in Clara. At least so far. So he continued. "Now, I want you to look around a bit, to pay attention to the details, then you tell me what you see. Proabably no longer in clara, but ti does not matter. Look around, remember the world of magic. Then tell me how it changed."

Fact was that each mage actually saw the world of magic, the world of clara, the world of ara, vis and essence. The surprising and strange thing was that every mage saw the magic world differently. Some saw it filled with yellow or green clouds, some with tiny sparks, some in other strange colours or forms. All that strange world was the world of Clara. Later on Malinka would be taught to control it. To form that world, to use it to create spells. Soon she'd be taught to take Ara from the magic world and merge it with her Vis. Ara was easy to see while in Clara. It was everywhere. Everything and everyone was surrounded and made by it. Vis was Malinka's personal Ara, her personal energy. Quite a few mages could see Vis as well while in Clara. But the main thing they could see was that Ara, to each unique, beautiful or sometimes disgusting.

She glowed in her Master's praise. Then he started asked her to look around speaking of the world of magic. She knew that she had no idea what he was talking about but hoped she would find out soon.

She looked around her a bit, and at first she didn't notice anything. But then slowly the differences in what she saw hit her. At first they were subtle, like a slight simmer to the air, a whif of something spicy. But then it all came together all at once ; she gasped in suprise. The colors grew brighter and more intense. Only making the entire room more beautiful. Every now and again the surface of some object would ripple and change in shade of its original color. The shadows around the room seemed to be made of liquid and constantly grew and shrank as if fighting with the light. The air was filled with sparks of what seemed to be some wild wonderful energy that was constanly in motion. On top of that everything in the room pulsed with the same soft white light. Some were different in brightness and tint but all were filled with the same light. It all added up to make the world around her more beautiful and exotic. What she saw confused he, she stood up and turned on her heels slowly trying to make sense of what she saw. She reached out to touch a nearby book self which was humming with its own light . her hand reached out and just as she touched it she looked at her own hand. It too was more detailed and brighter. A kind of light glowed and pulsed within her. This light quickly and quite often change colors as if trying to match her moods and feelings.

She tried to speak, to describe what she saw to her master, but found she could not speak. She tried twice more only to fail then struggling she muttered, "Everything is more intense Master . Like what I have been seeing before is just some second hand copy. The colors are brighter, there are some colors I'm seeing that I cannot even name. The details of everything are sharper. And everything in this room, including you and I pulses with some odd sort of energy. Some greater than others of course." She paushed and tried to gather her thoughts, " There are these spraks floating in the air they keep moving almost as if they are dancing. And the shadows they move like water. Then the surface of objects they ripple and change colors like they're alive..... It's all so beautiful Master. You'll have to forgive me my description is lacking, for this is so beyond anything.. " she eft the thought unfinshed. She countined to look around the room studying it lost in her own thoughts and observations until Master Nicholas brought her back to reality.

"Wonderful, Malinka. Wonderful. Quite a few mages fall in love with the view of the magic world, with the sight of Ara." Nicholas was quite happy that Malinka saw the arcana world the way she described it. Some mages saw it not so pleasantly, some even feared being in clara for longer. Most, like Malinka, enjoyed it. "Now, I shall tell you how to create Mana. From mana you'll shape a spell. All this will happen very fast, since after you'll start messing with the arcane world your mind shall do these arcanic wonders almost at instant speed. That's all you'll be able to do at such speed, so don't get your ideas too sky high. Most of all your mind knows what to do, I am just explaining it to you." The master smiled for a bit, watching if Malinka was listening to him.

"You see this Ara yes? You'll have to drag it to you and mix it with your Vis. That will create a so called Arcalysis which will bring your mind to the Astral Plane, while we are now in the Material Plane. Don't worry about how to do it. Your mind knows and it will do it by your wish, just like you can raise your hand by just wishing." Again the master stopped and waited a bit, letting Malinka mull over the information. Soon, he continued. "Once your mind shall appear in the Astral Plane, you'll need to Focus on your Essence Plane and on your Essence - Air, Water, Fire or Earth, or in another words Element. You'll have to choose one of the Element Essences. Again don't worry about how, your mind knows how to Focus in the Astral Plane, just like it knew how to Focus on Ara. After that you simply need to Channel that Essence back here and mix it with your Vis. Just like you mixed Ara with Vis to get an Arcalysis." Again the master stopped and continued a few moments later.

"Once you have Channeled enough Essence and mixed it with your Vis, you'll have Mana to play with. As an initiate you are able to channel just a small amount of Essence, enough for one Initiate spell. If you'll ever be an Apprentice, you'll be able to control more essence, more mana and bigger spells. So. After you have this mana, you simply shape it into your first spell. Into what you shape this mana, that spell you make. Again, don't worry how to shape it, your mind knows how. You just wish for it, have a clear mind, clear thoughts, one specific spell in mind, my dove. Your first spell shall be a simple harmless one called a Glowing Sphere. You'll summon forth a small manifestation of either fire or reflective ice to provide a floating sphere of light that provides cool illumination. The light remains so long as minimal concentration can be retained by the spellcaster, and the sphere can be moved at will. You'll have to choose either Fire or Water essence for this spell. After you shape mana into that spell, simply release it and we'll see if you did it right or if the spell fizzled. Now, give it a try or ask all the questions, my dear."
