The Thelyri walked slowly down the cobbled road, headed towards the Old Schola. He had received strict instructions to meet his instructor at the Academy, and then the two of them were to go out on a day's worth of sailing. His training would be a cycle's worth of sailing, studying, and then more sailing. According to the receptionist, his very last day would be spent sailing the sailing the boat by himself, under his instructor's guided and cautious eye. He wore a loose white linen shirt laced up the front, black woven wool pants underneath accompanied by hard leather, black pointed boots. He sported golden-blonde hair, tied into locks cleverly concealed by a fanciful blue bandanna, which in turn was hidden by a red velvet hat, topped with a royal-blue feather. The slight tinge of a tan crossed his pale skin, with aquatic sea-green eyes and a crescent smile upon his pale lips. Finally he would be back out in the ocean, with a good number of wooden planks underneath his feet, rocking to the lullaby of the sea.

After a few twists and turns in the large entrance corridor, he found himself knocking at the room where his 'instructor' was to be in supposedly. He was greeted by the rough reply of a human, sailor by accent. "Aye? What's it now ye bloody teacher! I ain't got time for an'e more of yer lectures!"

Ver'drak knocked tentatively at the door once more, before it slammed itself opened. He was greeted with a large amount of smoke and the fuzzy vision of a human sailor with a smoking pipe sticking out of his mouth. Couching and sputtering, the Thelyri tried to get a deep breath of fresh air. Meanwhile, the sailor looked him up and down, judging with a perspective eye what this one's intents might be. He had thick curly brown hair that was hidden by a cap. He wore emerald green trousers hooked over his shoulders with suspenders, along with a red tunic that was rolled up to his muscular biceps. Brown leather boots caked with dust, salt, and sweat were at his feet. Over his right shoulder he held rope, over his left he held charted maps. "Ye must be that new student...erm...Zerdak...no..Ver'drak! Ah, ye thats it!" the aged sailor spoke, letting out another billow of smoke as he did so.

OOC: k I'll peer mod this I guess, but by the look of it, its your turn to post reply to comment int he first post.

and just quick, will you be useing your lil ship, if so post me up some details. and if not I'll just use a small two man sail. any other details fromt he set up of this would be good as well

OOC: Nah I figured we'd just use his ship...he'd be more familiar with it.

Ver'drak continued to sputter and cough as the bellow of smoke passed over him, enshrouding his face and the ridges along his neck with the tar inside of it. Taking a few steps back, pale slender fingers undid the water flask that had previously been latched to his belt, and after a few seconds Ver'drak felt the soothing sensation as water was pleasantly stroked along his gills. After a moment's worth of peace, he latched his water flask back to his belt and adjusted the collar of his shirt, covering the lower two lines upon either side of his neck. It was increasingly apparant that Ver'drak would be using his gills while sailing, and if anything was to get in the way or clog them, he would be the one to pay. Turning around he took a deep breath of fresh air, then turned on the ball of his foot to meet the Sea Captain, his Instructor for the cycle.

"Sorry about that, you got me by suprise for a moment," Ver'drak spoke with a nervous laugh, hastily adjusting his collar once more. With a sweeping gesture, he plucked his velvet red hat off his head and made a low bow, his hat's edge only just brushing the dust from the floor before being brought up to his chest. "Ver'drak, your pupil for the day," he glanced up and spoke with a merry wink, showing his amusement at the situation. Quickly straightening his back, he fixed his hat back upon his head and lightly stroked the royal-blue feather upon it. Hands falling back to his sides, he bounced eagerly on the heel of his boots, saying in a pleasant and overall enjoyable manner, "Soo...Mr., um what's your name again Sir?" After the Thelyri had been granted a name, he chuckled cheerfully and spoke again, "So...when do we start!"

"Names michal hawk boy, and well get started soon as you take the time to describe yoru sailin experiance to me. I dont want to be wastin my time showing you thinks you allready know. Its not like I got all day ta be teachin stupid kids that aint got a lick o experiance. " He said takeing a nother puff of his pipe.

His stance was one of annoyance and frustration. It also held that slightly bent leg stance that those who spent their lives at sea often developed. He was more acustomed to the swaying of a ship as it rolled over the waves, even on sturdy ground his legs were prepared for any sudden movement.

The Thelyri elf stared at the man for a few moments, taking in what the Sea Captain had just said and letting it jog through his memory. Delicately he stroked the gills on either side of his neck as he thought - a nasty habit he had gotten into. "Well, let's see..." Ver'drak began, his hands falling loosely to either side of his waist as he addressed the bent sailor before him. "I have a small boat of my own that has a simple rudder and sail. I can steer the boat with the rudder...I know that much. The sail I only know how to put up and pull down, and when to use it. I can anchor a ship, draw it back up, and find my way around the deck. Otherwise, I just know a little bit. I can roughly direct my ship in the direction I want it to go, but I'm sure theres a lot more you can teach me about navigation. And perhaps how to keep a ship in good condition," Ver'drak spoke, adding the latter as an afterthought. He smiled reluctantly and looked up at the burly man, searching for an answer.

Leading Ver'drak along the path to the docks, Ver saw many larger ships. The one they eventualy came up to was just a small Catamaran. Barely even worth calling a ship.

The sail was down and it was only loosely tied to the dock. "Get on there and raise dat sail boy. Lets see if you at least know how ta do that properly." He said in a gruff tone
