Rose Ieffreon Life: An Overview

An Overview of Ieffreon:
Quote:

Ieffreon was established in Eight-Thousand, Three-Hundred, and Forty-One (8341) by Lord Ieffreus Polytropos Panthoretes. The city of which is now Ieffreon did not always go by this name. It seems the original name of Ieffreon has long been forgotten, or is the topic of scholarly debates. Such an issue is merely water around the Isle, as we say here in Ieffreon. In this guide, of sorts, I will try to bring you mainlanders up to par as to what’s what, and who’s who, in our quaint little corner of the world, Ieffreon.

First, I will try to delve into different customs here on Ieffreon. The Isles have always been noted for our fierce independence, and rightfully so. There are many customs that the mainlanders and we share. But by the same token, there are many we do not share or even fancy.

A large difference is the overall mentality of those who have lived in Ieffreon for several eras or even there entire lives. To those who live upon the mainland. Ieffreon’s are not so hasty in getting things done. I have observed the mainlanders are always in a rush, and for what? One of our greatest philosophers, Arein Leslies once wrote that: “Why are the masses in such a rush? Do they think they can possibly hurry the wills of the Gods? It is folly to rush; it bares neither meaning nor purpose…”

The Ieffreon Pattern

The mainland has always taken the pattern, and given way to a mere two days of rest. Ieffreon we often celebrate the patterns closing with a day of festivities. The beginning of the week, being of course Solaria, is started by rolling out of your lavish bed, and going to your appropriate job. Such is this story until, Srennia. Having lived in Ieffreon all my days, I can to this moment think of no one who raises early on Srennia. Srennia is a day of rest, and nothing more. Orodisia and Kuras, the near end of the pattern, the Seaside Agora opens up, and nearly everyone flocks there. Orodisia and Kuras are often considered the days of which people spend there money, on very worthless items; if you don’t mind me saying.

The end of the pattern, the day of Lunaria, is full of festivities of some sort. I know many families and friends who get together to spend the day at the beaches, packing there meals with them. Many congregate to the taverns, and hostels. Many of the youth, here on Ieffreon, think they have us veterans of age fooled. They like to believe they can go to the Resort, without us knowing of what they do. They so often forget that we old-timers were once young.

The Ieffreon Holidays

Ieffreon’s love to celebrate, but we do not partake of all the celebrations familiar to your mainlanders. It is unknown, to me, on specifics of why. But I would much imagine it is the will of the City Council. The following holidays are not celebrated on Ieffreon:
Reginalia
Mera de Afaimasso**
Kestrel Tourney
Libertas Day
Imperial Day
Empress Michelle Day

Mera de Afaimasso, or the Day of Blood is day of mourning. Every era the citizens of Ieffreon make a trip to the Panthoretes Stream. On any other day the stream is a light blue. It’s purity is uncanny. It is rumored that this water is by some means magical and has the ability to rejuvenate the body. But on Mera de Afaimasso the water turns red. Many will try and tell you it is real blood. But I assure you it is not.

Mera De Afaimasso is held to honor the Eunesians who lost their lives. It is written history books, the epic of Eunesia and Arium war. I shall not speak on that grim note. But Mera De Afaimasso honors the lives of all the men and women of Eunesia who lost their lives in that bloody war.

The Ieffreon Cubotri

The mainlanders break their meals into two categories, which I find alarming. How in the name of Ioannes eat twice a day? And worse yet, they think snacks as a rarity! Well, we here on Ieffreon eat when our bellies require it. I assure you, if it is it in the middle of the work-brightening, and I hear a rumble from that area. Out the door I go, to get me some soup. Visitors to Ieffreon have my assurances you will never hear the word Pracenda or rosyun on white beaches of Ieffreon.

Ieffreon Fashion

I have observed over the course of my journeys that mainlanders have such horrible fashion sense. They all seem to favor dreary colors. Ieffreon’s are quite the opposite. It is probably to your guessing that one would surely wear clothing of a light material. And you would be correct! Silk is the predominant material for nearly almost all clothing articles worn. Some people of well enough purses have Arakmatian silks imported. As for the colors we, Ieffreon’s favor, bright and vivid; Oranges, Yellows, Reds, Blues, Greens, and many others.

Mainlanders also tend to wear rather tight clothing. Ieffreon’s differ extremely to this end. Find me a local who wears tight clothing, and I’ll give you one-hundred crowns! I assure you my purse will not go down. Clothing here is worn loose. To keep the clothing upon our bodies, cords and ribbons are most often used. Men tend to wear loose trousers, and loose shirts. Women tend to favor blouses and skirts, nothing too heavy. As for shoes, both genders prefer sandals, versus stuffy boots.

Religion on Ieffreon

Religion is not such a big issue here in Ieffreon. That is, of course, in comparison to the mainland. Ieffreon’s consider religion a casual affair. Giving praise and worship to Ioannes is done whenever a person feels compelled to do so. As aforementioned Ioannes is the god of which most Ieffreon’s worship. Only in recent years has another deity been given praise from Ieffreon’s. Rak, or the Planetar of Power.

The Church of Faith is not a recognized organization in Ieffreon, nor in most of Eunesia. Religion as mentioned is considered a private thing. Most Eunesians have the hardest of times trying to understand the Church of Faith and their; often ridiculed; radical faith in Diana.

Government in Eunesia

Ieffreon's local city government does not match that of the rest of the Alyssan Civitate. It has a Lady Thane, who has served largely as a figurehead and nothing more. The power of governance in the cities of Eunesia is held by the City Councils who are elected by the people; for the people. This concept is known to Eunesia as Demokratia, this concept has echoed beyond Eunesia with recent times; and with the arrival of the Rakrya as the sovereign monarchs of the Aelyrian Empire.

The concept of Demokratia has long held that officials must be accountable to the will of the governed, and the rule of the people is expressed in Ieffreon through the powerful City Council and the Council President, who often influence who holds the clout to be appointed thane.

The Ieffreon city-council is the protocol for other islands in the Eunesian territories. Each city is split up into population districts; all equal. Each district is given one representative on the City Council. If at any time a district wishes to investigate their representative they may call for a vote of no confidence and elect a new representative. This protocol is something used to prevent corruption on the political circles; and has worked very well for Eunesia as a whole.

The provincial government of Eunesia is the Council of Eunesia. Each island in the Nesocratic Federation of Eunesia is given two representatives to sit upon the Council of Eunesia. The Governor of the Nesocratic Federation of Eunesia is elected by all of the people in Eunesia. The position of Governor holds considerable power; and always has.

The Assembly Federation is the term used to describe the branch of government that monitors everything in the domain of influence that is Eunesia. The Federation Assembly is responsible to the administration of all business, industry, imports, exports, building codes, laws and anything else imaginable within the Nesocratic Federation of Eunesia.

The Assembly Federation is often scoffed at by the mainland political circles; and questioned. The Assembly Federation does control nearly every aspect of the lives of Eunesians. However, the Assembly Federation has long guaranteed what they call the “Three S’s” safety, security and success. The citizens of Eunesia do not question this; and have come to appreciate the form of government they call their own. All that matters to them is that it works; and it does.

Architecture

Many of you mainlanders will note the architecture of the city. I do not know of any establishment or house, within the sphere of control that is Ieffreon, which is not made of the most white of marble. I’ve tried to research the origins of this marble, but alas have found no answers. All buildings have been built by, or from the support of the Ieffreon City Council. It is illegal within Ieffreon to build anything, without proper certificates. The City Council is reluctant to permit more growth. It was a hard-fought battle to allow the construction of ‘Le Domiciolius Ieffreon. ‘Le Domiciolius Ieffreon is a multi-story building, specifically used to house the citizens of Ieffreon. Last I checked, the Aedile was turning away potential applicants, I fear it is full once again.

Ieffreon is mathematically parallel and perpendicular, in lieu of the city-layout. Every street is the same size, and shape. Each street within the city-limits is also paved, with the very same material used to construct all the buildings. Such redundancy would seem, dull. Well, quite frankly it is not. I can not begin to describe the beauty of Ieffreon. All I can do is give you simple facts, and pertinent information. I will allow you, the visitor, to explore Ieffreon as you see fit, and then you shall be the judge of this glorious city.
