A tall plant with mauve flowers that look like bells with silvery-green leaves. The leaves make the plant appear to be a ladder as they stick straight out from the thick stalks. The plant blooms in the Fall, just as the weather begins to turn cool. When the fresh or dried flowers are mixed with water or wine and applied directly to a wound, they act as a painkiller.
