Archdruidess' 'Everwinter Shield' Protects Jaedaxia!
The Thirteenth of Aperitus, Era Sixteenth of the Longest Winter Part Deux.
JAEDAXIA -- rumors run wild as hundreds, if not thousands, of Jaedaxians flock to Le Cathedral du Carmelya following the breathtaking display of magic earlier last darkening. In a surprising show of prowess and guardianship to their city, the druids of Le cathedral unleashed a magical shield. Witnesses claim that trees throughout the city literally bloomed as if it were Spring while nearby vineyards claim that an ethereal glow hovered over the frozen farmlands as if the earth itself was responding to to the druids' magic.
"We serve Carmelya and she desires nothing more than harmony between man and nature", comments the Archdruidess Aa'ondora of the Druids Copse, "obviously this weather is abnormal and needs to be tamed. I have spent an excess of of one hundred fifty brightenings constructing the enchantments that hold this spell in place." When the Sentinel asked her about this process to save an entire city, the Archdruidess humbly provided us with an answer comprehensible by mere mundane.
"It is an Archmage version of a Journeyman Druidism spell", she explains, "and with the help of my Council here in the Cathedral, we were able to construct it to cover a majority of the city. Our next step is to maintain a warmer climate and accelerate the growth of additional foodstuffs. But this will take time. And more magi."
Though it was obvious that many Jaedaxians are eternally grateful for the efforts of the Archdruidess and her faction, some are skeptical about the use of the invisible shield. "Is it even there?", a local whaler scoffed when we asked his opinion regarding the druids' efforts, "I can't really trust what I can't see, ye know what I'm sayin' ?" Others are clearly more concerned about their immediate needs. One woman, who requested to be anonymous, says that her husband recently passed while joining up with a local mercenary group. "There are still bandits and wild things outside the gates", she said between heartfelt tears, "We can't go back to our farm. When will this winter end? Tell me? Will my children and I survive long enough to see another Spring?"
That is, perhaps, the greatest question of it all. Despite the obvious advantages to having this 'Everwinter Shield' protecting the city, Jaedaxians still have to eat, keep warm, and work for a living. Even with its harbors reopened, the city will need much more than an invisible roof to save its populace. The city's Grand Council is sending an open invitation to all mages of any rank to join the Archdruidess and her faction to save every city from this Longest Winter.
