Early Winter, Era XV Post Fractum
ARCONIS --- Enamoria. There was wholesale joy and mirth in the streets here during the last cycles of summer after Alexis Sapientia, Imperial Minister of War and former student at the Rosa Academia Arcanum, most generously donated a total of two hundred thousand crowns of imperial monies for the rebuilding and revitalization of the city.
Arconis had been debilitated during a protracted siege by the giants who live nearby more than an era ago. The Arcana and Art schools which had driven much of the city economy were closed as students fled the city, and a mass exodus of the nobility and businessmen followed. The City Council has overseen the government since Thane Branch, son of former Lord Protector Pescado Branch, left his post.
"Why, this is amazing! Incredible! This city hasn't seen such munificence since Duke Serra-Kane departed the mortal plane!" Said Mr. Picknick, Arconis' Council President, with a tear in his eye.
"Diana preserve his lordship - his most excellent excellency - Sir Sapientia! And all his family!"
Now that the festivities and general merriment is over, the City Council has settled down to the pressing matter of how to distribute the monies. Opinions have varied, ranging from re-opening the Academies to investing in the cross-breeding of native Khardran goats with the hardier and hairier Ariumite yak.
"Yaks 'r the goats o' the future," commented
Little Gil, owner of a goat-breeding farm on the outskirts of the city.
"My ma said so - and feth me if it ain't true!"
All that has been decided so far is to give all current businesses in Arconis a
one thousand crown stimulus bonus. This offer will also be extended to any new businesses begun in the Winter or in the Spring of this era.
It has also been decided to rename the 14th of Junctior, when the Imperial War Minister announced to a gathering of City Council members his intentions toward the city,
Sapientia Brightening.
In desperation about the rest of the funds, the City Council has proposed to hold an
Open Door Meeting at which any and all citizens may express their thoughts and ideas. This Meeting will be held on the first brightening of Ponutis, and will be followed by a Public Feast and Display of Ice Sculptures at the Thanal Mansion.
