In the past it was a feature of this periodical to publish its pages to the wider empire for the general interest and amusement of the kind reader. Much has happened in the little town on Libertas Bay and we the editorial staff of the “Voice” deem it time to tell our story.
The Island
The weather was atrocious for mid Aperitus but two local residents the giants Athos and Titus Chasmbreaker noticed a strange orange glow a mile off the docks of Trysvale
illuminating the sea
This phenomena was reported to the local authorities and certain decisions were taken by the Lady Thane Glory Trysvale.
It will be remembered by long standing readers that the incumbent thane of Trysvale was the very same person who was accused of various crimes including murder by poison of the Justicar of the province and of being involved in the illegal slave trade. These accusations and the events thereafter were the direct link that led to the well documented events which go under the title “The Battle of Trysvale” a heinous attack by the forces of the Church of Faith. The lady thane made her escape from Trysvale during the bombardment and no word of her whereabouts was heard until the lady thane returned to Trysvale a few cycles ago.
It should be said that as of yet the Lady Thane has made no public statement of any kind and spends her time in the Thanal mansion as a virtual recluse.
The lady thane did however take certain actions in person once it was realised that the orange glow was growing. She ordered the entire town to be
evacuated to higher ground as matter of extreme urgency. This undertaking reminiscent of the events of fives eras ago went off without a hitch and the entire population of the town were able to observe at first hand the extraordinary events a mile out to sea.
The orange glow in the water was the precursor to a volcanic eruption out to sea and from this violent beginning emerged the island. The massed ranks of Trysvales population saw this strange phenomena and the subsequent events. For several candlemarks the fate of Trysvale hung in the balance .A great acrid cloud of volcanic dust and gases threatened to engulf the town and its population but at the very last moment a strange breath of wind turned potential disaster to triumph.
Many eye witnesses felt the soft breath of deliverance on their cheek
Mrs Phylolcrus Tink marble polisher and washerwoman
I tells thee we were at our prayers as that dark cloud of death did approach us. There be no way that we could escape that foul cloud yet as death approached the multitude on the cliffs I doth feel the breath of the goddess on my face and praise be that cloud of destruction melted away. I tells thee Trysvale was saved that brightening
The divine deliverance from certain destruction is a widely held belief in the town and many people are looking for some form of explanation as to why the goddess would send destruction and then deliver us at the last moment. The editorial staff of the Voice are true to the facts and as such offer no rationalization of these events. We only report that many of our population are reconsidering their religious beliefs or not.
The island was first visited by the
giants Athos and Titus by means of a causeway that appeared on the first Solaria after the appearance of the island off our shore. The brave giants explored the island and gave an interview to the Voice on their return.
We were astonished the island supports a thriving eco structure with mature trees and colourful bird life we walked entranced in a sub tropical climate that was singularly delightful. At the very center of the island were one could expect to find the gaping maw of the volcano we discovered a temple of white marble a simple beautiful circular building. We entered easily and found just a statue inside the temple. The figure was of a woman who was chained to a cut gem a statue of such artistic skill that we could only stand at be amazed at the skill of the unknown sculpture.
Further news has come from the visitors to
Mrs Agatha Trevellyn a grandmother and a person who has for years suffered from the arthritis to her constant agony and the distress of her close family was seen dancing jigs in the “High Tides Inn” just a few darkenings ago. As she had been chair bound for three patterns this was strange and our reporter quizzed the old lady
Young man I drank from the waters of the pool on the island and was cured of the arthritis is a miracle I tells thee!
Her grandsons confirmed this story and swear she was dancing only minutes after drinking a cup of the water from the pool.
The island is a strange phenomena and this story deserves publication to a wider audience the Voice offers no explanation for these events but it is clear that strange forces are in place on our new neighbour .Whether the island is a sign of the gods. a gift to a long neglected town or a curse we cannot comment yet .Events will unfold and no doubt expert opinion will be sought from the Church of the Faith and the magical community in due course.
